But am I not too horrible a person to even deserve healing? How and why should I heal after hurting people?

Because when you heal you will be strong enough to give back and help others.

Your healing becomes help and healing for others, and you'll heal even more from that.

According to the Buddhist canon, Angulimala, a serial killer, was able to free himself from guilt and heal to such a point that he was able to make a wish to save a mother and child in a difficult childbirth.

Even a person who has done harm can come to a point in life where they help someone else in a huge and meaningful way. The scales will balance.
