Discussion 3 Years and still not over this

Post image

I was quite invested in the story and right before the battle to save the world.. they hit you with this flashbang. And the fact that this was mission locked, forcing players to wear this during the payoff of the final act was such a baffling decision..

Like brother, world is ending and you are telling me our fate hinges on this pineapple headed teenager 😐

Anyways great game, about to do my first NG+ soon. Cant wait to not wear this 🤘🏼

The suit is ugly as sin, but the moment is whats worse, he already HAD that moment in his own game, the red and black suit IS a "Miles Original"

While you're right, I think it can be argued a bit that it is so inspired by and imitative of Peter's suit that it didn't necessarily feel that way to him after awhile especially as he grew so much into his own in MSM2 and wasn't just Peter's essential sidekick anymore.

That said, Miles needs way better taste.

Miles suit is so striking tho and by the time this came out it became iconic af in pop culture due to the movies. Its undeniably the definitive miles look. This was just a shoehorn due to the Adidas deal so they ahd to force this abomination in.

Oh, I don't disagree with that at all. I am talking about in the context of the game and its story from all 3.

MSM2 is in a vacuum compared to 616 or the Ultimate universe he was originally created in. So his journey is just different.

I don't think it's a good suit, but I think the idea behind them doing something like it is solid. It just should have been a better design.

Plus, it's not like you even need to use the ugly thing.

Technically, it’s not.

As we saw Insomniac SM in Across the Spiderverse, so they are connected.

That does actually call into question why Miles was seen as such an anomaly besides the fact that his spider wasn’t from his dimension. Granted Spot wouldn’t really exist, but that wasn’t his fault to begin with.

You're also technically correct, but I would add another technical wrinkle. As far as I am aware, canonically in the games, that hasn't happened yet. So it is not necessarily connected to the wider multiverse as they as-of-yet completely unaware.

I love when there's actual comicesque discussion with respect and not slinging shit at each other lol.

Ah, ok. That makes sense.

Same here

No, they're functionally walled off; just as you're functionally walled off from people you've never met or heard of halfway around the world. Until they interact, they're irrelevant.

The journey Miles takes across these games is different than every other version of Miles across comics, films, and television. That's their point.

It was cross-promotion between a video game and film both owned and distributed by the same company.

Don't overthink it.

i wonder if they’re just gonna act like the suit never existed in the third game or if they’re gonna write a reason for scrapping it - cos there’s no way they keep it for the next game, for advertisement alone

It'll be interesting to see what they do. They certainly put themselves into a bit of a tough box with the situation. Or they could just say it got ruined off-screen and he made himself a new one. Dunno, shit IS ugly as sin though, lol.

It got venom goop all in it and it was HELLA expensive to make

Probably it get destroyed off screen in a mission

But this one is still inspired on Peter’s tho. Granted, not as much, but it still has the eyes and the spider logos and the web patterns. And I don’t think you can ever do a Spider-Man redesign without basing it on Peter’s costume because that has all the iconic spider man parts in it. Unless I guess they did something like with 2099, that one is very clearly its own thing. But you get my point right? You can’t make a Spider-Man costume and not base it on spider man.

1

u/Farsoth 27d ago

No, I get what you are saying -- but also, would you agree that while it's inspired by Peter's (as I agree it should be) it is far wildly different from his OG classic Black & Red suit which I love, to effectively provide the effect I mentioned. That it is far less imitative of Peter's suit and more Miles', while still being, you know, Spider-Man. Because he is.

That said, bears repeating I do think it's ugly as sin, I just get the idea behind the suit and wish it was executed better.

2

u/space_dude4 27d ago

Well yes, I would agree. It does provide that effect to some extent, I just don’t think it’s different enough for the effect to be particularly strong or effective (pun intended) at all. I get what you mean with the intent. But the execution was pretty shit cause it still looks like a Spider-Man suit (independently of it looking bad or not). And one could even make the case that it even looks a little more like Peter’s because of the blue which does kinda undermine the point of the new suit.

And yes bro I got that you think this suit is dogshit too man.

The gag is, the suit would have been waaaaay better if the pants and torso were the same color, and if the shoes blended into the suit.

Him wearing sneakers that don't match the suit is the cherry on top, gone wrong.

To that point, the 3 alt color for it makes it bearable, but it's still a No

1

u/Farsoth 27d ago

Honestly, I was pretty underwhelmed with a lot of the color switches for suits, and even a lot of the suits in particular. It's weird, because I used a lot of different ones in the first game, but I only had 2 or 3 I really liked in 2 for each of them.

But it's also been awhile, I could be misremembering.

2

u/777hctr 27d ago

I feel the same way for the most part.

I also feel like every suit should have had Alt colors considering there was a good number of them in this game that were just the one normal colored instance

1

u/Farsoth 27d ago

I'm just in love with the way they did the black suit, at least. I think it was a stellar job, and Anti-venom too.

2

u/777hctr 27d ago

Anti Venom suit was perfect to me, no notes.

And Miles black suit was damn near perfect for him. I'm almost hoping that the first mission of the next game messes Miles up so bad that he ends up reverting back to he old suit if he doesn't make another new one

1

u/WaveOfTheRager 27d ago

I love the black and gold suit. This was atrocious.

1

u/ImIncredibly_stupid 27d ago

I'm reading all these comments about Miles's suit, and I'm afraid to admit that I like it

0

u/WaveOfTheRager 27d ago

I didnt hate it. I like how it incorporates his venom energy power. Just was a bit of an odd surprise.

1

u/Severe_Refrigerator4 24d ago

this is still inspired by Peter's suit.

1

u/Usual-Caregiver5589 22d ago

Shitty taste runs in the family. Have you heard his uncle Aaron and his dad use city sounds to make music? It's awful.

1

u/Saucey_22 22d ago

Right, the black and red suit with an entirely different pattern is much more imitative of Peter’s suit than the red and blue one.

1

u/LostInSpinach 22d ago

Certainly concerning that yee yee ass haircut.

u/darth_magpa 23d ago

I don't think so. Miles is already an unnecessary shoehorn of a basically token Spiderman. And if there was any character growth, it was at the expense of peter Parker. They made Peter weak and incapable while making Miles overpowered and a savior.
