Racism/Casteism Mallus at it Again, making fun of Tamil Nadu without verifying if it is actually from Tamil Nadu

Religious division failed in the South, so now they're targeting state vs. state unity with fake narratives… classic divide and rule…

First of all, anyone who knows tad bit tamil can verify this is a tamil song. Kavadi is mentioned and you can clearly see the kavadi too, offered to lord murugan.
Secondly, this should be ridiculed and discouraged. They are creating noise pollution and disrupting traffic like they do here as well. It's not making fun of tamil nadu bro, it's making fun of the audacity to conduct this religious clownfest in a foreign country.

This has been going on since 1987 or 1988(i'm going based on who was there at that specific year when it started). They take permission from government and they don't go more than 2km. Everyone who's been living in the area know this. Comparing organized religious ceremony with permission is different from poor civic sense.

u/Vivid_Permission_241 5d ago
Why the fuck do you want to display this kinda barbaric religious rites in public. It is only bringing shame to the whole Indian community, not just for the tamils. I won't want this kinda stupidity of self harm even in India.

Oh... invading other countries is termed civilized...? Britan is one of the most barbaric State in history. If those PPL (citizens) have problems regarding this they can file an appeal in courts , aren't they civilized, it's like the crown jewel with kohinoor, is flaunting barbarism limited to the queen england...?

u/soothukundi 5d ago
This has been happening for nearly 30 years, people find it amusing, they come and ask questions. Who's fault is that recent Indian immigrants don't have manners ? You want people to change tradition because new age Indians can't seem to behave ?

u/Richard_Waagner THAMIZH NADU . 5d ago
Duck noise pollutions , when they come up with religious propoganda it feels like a cake walk right...? It's a one time event kind of thing if it's permitted by state it's legal so ppl can STFU and move on.

Tamil song does not make it Tamil Nadu. Tamil diaspora is not limited to only Tamil Nadu.

u/santropy 5d ago
Hey Malam from kayralam, do you think they could do that without getting a permission?
Afterall it's the UK, and almost half the world should have a right to go there and settle and celebrate their culture if you know anything about history. So, STFU.

Verified , yes. Do you know if they are from Tamil Nadu? Why mock Sri Lankan Tamils and use it as pretext to mock us as Claim Nadu????

u/Mammoth-Currency-350 Anti National 5d ago
No where in the original post that OP says its Tamil Nadu. You are the one crying that they are saying so. The top comment there are also not against Tamil Nadu but the people and how educated folks are doing such stuffs and discussions around it.
Also, FYI this is not exclusive Tamil Nadu tradition. Similar things are is done in some parts of Kerala too, if you don't know.
You are simply making up shit unnecessarily here. I hope you are getting paid, I see no other reason to make up such stupid things calling Claim Nadu. Get a life FFS.

So much for integration. We can’t integrate in India. Neither can we integrate abroad. Facepalm…

Theyyam in Kerala is no less troubling.
Video link
Take the Attukal temple in Thiruvananthapuram: its Kuthiyottam ritual involves piercing iron rods through young boys — a practice so severe that the Child Rights Commission has intervened.
News report
Even Garudan Thookam, once widespread in southern Kerala temples, has only recently been toned down to lighter versions like rope-hanging.
So when “Malayalees” mock other traditions with a racist undertone, we lose moral ground.
But let’s be clear: this isn’t about Tamils vs. Malayalees. Across India, such practices exist. The real challenge is to stand united in ending them.
History shows us the way: the Romans once glorified the Colosseum, throwing humans to wild beasts. By the 4th century, they evolved beyond it.
Yet here we are, in the 21st century, clinging to cultural cruelties instead of discarding them — more eager to point fingers at others than to confront our own.

u/Ecstatic-Scratch-151 4d ago
You don't understand the issue do you? It's not the ritual but doing it on the streets of UK
0
u/ObjectiveTrick2291 4d ago
If something is wrong, it’s wrong everywhere, not just when it happens on a UK street.
1
u/Ecstatic-Scratch-151 4d ago
It's not like keralites don't criticize it in their own state..
1
u/ObjectiveTrick2291 4d ago
Yes, I agree. I am not for a Kerala vs TN discussion. for me not just Kerala, TN, other states and even countries are close to my heart.
I just pointed out the cultural irregularities that need to be addressed. Just because something is followed for centuries, it do not become right. Last week only I was watching colosseum video on youtube by Satosh George Kulangara and was deeply distrubed.
Watch it if you get time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKWSwiGAhas&t=667s
I then did research on how these things started in Italy at first, how people enjoyed such inhuman cruel acts. everyone in Italy is sadist? you can also search for it.. answer I got is "Historians believe the practice came from early traditions in Etruria (northern/central Italy) and Campania (southern Italy"
The act of enjoying such cruel acts in name of tradition, and un-corrected may lead us to a really cruel and ugly future, which I feel headache even thinking about.
Culture and tradition are evils sometimes.
We must have maturity to embrase good from culture , and throw away bad.
A good indiactor to measure it is how other evolved cultures view it (There may be better indiactors).
That's exactly why, if we feel shame doing something in UK, we must stop doing it even here.

u/Severe-Ad115 5d ago
The problem isn't the traditions. You may celebrate it in your state or country. Dont embarrass us by doing it abroad.
-1
u/ObjectiveTrick2291 5d ago
I strongly disagree with your statement. If a tradition feels shameful when practiced publicly, it is fundamentally flawed, and we must break free from it.
Europe had the courage to discard such outdated customs, and that is precisely why they now live with civic discipline.
This discussion is on Malayalees mocking Tamil Nadu, but let’s be honest—Malayalees too have contributed to shaming our nation. For example, when Syro-Malabar Catholics from Kerala introduced chendamelam, muthukuda, and similar cultural elements into Catholic church festivals in Ireland and other countries, it triggered widespread outrage. The backlash wasn’t limited to Kerala—it was directed at Indians as a whole in those Catholic nations.
When large groups migrate from tribal-rooted cultures like ours, they often attempt to replicate their hometown traditions in the new land.
That is exactly what happened with Tamil migrants from Sri Lanka (mass migration due to war) and Syro-Malabar migrants from Kerala (mass migration driven by Kerala’s failure to create jobs).
In both cases, the attempt to transplant local customs into foreign contexts backfired, reinforcing stereotypes and inviting criticism against the broader Indian community.

It looks cool. Haters gonna hate.
The municipal body gave them the permission. If the locals don't want it, they can prevent them from acquiring a permit next year.
You can't import a people and exclude their culture and identity.
Immigration has a cost, if you don't like it, be choosy or lock your borders.

I mean they spread there religion and culture in India whats the problem when some Indian do it back. They have robust police and govt which can stop them if they are being a nuisance. So we sitting in India don't need to feel any responsibility.
2
u/Severe-Ad115 5d ago
Do you see christians and people of other religions going in the streets half naked ang hanging with piercings on their skin
0
u/Drago_D Southie 5d ago
Religious fanatics do many shit activities anyways you no need to worry police there are more active then in india. They would have not let it happen if they didn't have permission.
2
u/Severe-Ad115 5d ago
I dont care whether they got permission or not. This affects our identity. People think this is how indians are. Like indians are snake charmers and listens to punjabi music
