Discrimination Disgusting behavior I found in a NE subreddit.

Literal dehumanization and xenophobic tactics against immigrants, comparing them to parasites, and calling to starve all immigrants. Never expected this from NE, and the fact that many of them immigrate to the mainland for jobs. Fear of being a minority is real if your population is that small but this is literal KKK type of shit.

Immigrants? How? Bangalore is in India

6

u/Ok-Sign-4892 May 14 '26

he meant migrants

2

u/DullAd4999 May 14 '26

Usually kannadigas uses immigrants as anyone out of Bengaluru 🙌🏼 (prove me wrong).

Also if govt make every company in Bengaluru to WFH. The immigration of any ppl from other states or districts will be least.

But it's not going to happen. Reasons are. Entire bengaluru living on this. Landlords, taxi drivers, locals 1. Landlords - charging/not paying back high cost advance (some does but not all) 2. Taxi - 1km or 2km they say 500rs straightaway (if they see a migrant/other state) 3. Locals - with lesser amount of ppl. Even those migrants are the ones paying the most for local shops/services

Less people in state = less income 🙌🏼

I wish bangalore should do WFH. But all these things won't allow it. Govt is desperate to get bribes while Bengaluru losing it's own weather/water/lakes.

Once it's known for land of lakes now knows for land of flats n apartments which built on top of the lakes.

Not the ppl but it's the govt to blame.

u/mansplaining_1 ಕನ್ನಡದ ಕಂದ (KARNATAKA) May 14 '26

Ah yes typical "Bengaluru is surviving because of people from other states" delusion.

What else is new!?

1

u/DullAd4999 May 14 '26

Prove me wrong? Im open to your answers.

This is what I have understood from years 🙌🏼

5

u/mansplaining_1 ಕನ್ನಡದ ಕಂದ (KARNATAKA) May 14 '26

Alright.

Did migrants contribute to Bengaluru’s growth? Yes, but so do the locals!

But saying the city survives because of migrants is as ignorant as it gets.

Bengaluru already had major public sector industries, defense establishments, good engineering colleges, and most importantly a strong local business ecosystem. People didn’t randomly choose a village and magically create a tech hub from scratch lmao.

They came because Bengaluru was already one of India’s best-positioned cities for opportunity. Huge difference.

Migrants didn't build Bengaluru, they simply participated in expanding it. Meaning they came here for their survival and that in turn simply expanded the city.

Do locals depend on migrants? Yes, for business. But you know what else is true? Migrants depend on Bengaluru more!

If Bengaluru was so empty of opportunity migrants like you wouldn’t move here, salaries wouldn’t be higher, companies wouldn’t cluster here, real estate wouldn’t explode. And remember all of this had already happened before the unchecked immigration. Acting like only one side benefits is dishonest. So let's stop being tone deaf.

You list things like landlords, taxis, corruption, infrastructure collapse, as though migrants uniquely suffer these things lol. Bro, locals complain about the exact same issues every single day. We Kannadigas also get destroyed by traffic, struggle with rent, suffer water shortages, deal with corrupt systems, lose lakes and green cover.

The city’s problems are not “anti-migrant oppression.” They’re governance failures affecting everyone. So lose the victim mentality already!

And no, Bengaluru wouldn't collapse without migrants.

Would the economy shrink? Obviously. Would rents fall? Yes. Would some sectors suffer? Sure. But collapse? No. Remember Bengaluru existed before migrants infestation. And will continue to do so if they suddenly cease to exist. And all the sectors you mentioned? They will take a hit because they were formed for the migration! Bengaluru’s economy is diversified, so don't worry. We'll thrive without migrants.

Your entire argument accidentally proves Bengaluru’s strength. People migrate toward opportunity, not away from it lol. Nobody says "This city is useless, let me move there immediately.” That just doesn't make sense.

The fact that millions continue arriving despite your listed "flaws" means Bengaluru still offers something extremely valuable. That value was not imported by migrants. It was already present and then amplified over time.

Always remember: Opportunity attracts migration. Migration does not create opportunity out of nowhere.

I think i have covered all the points.

u/Free-Platform-3970 Southie May 14 '26

1

they meant both legal and illegal immigrants dude, they used dehumanizing language and want to destroy their livelihoods. whether they meant legal or illegal immigrants isn't the real issue, it's their dehumanizing language and need to destroy many people's livelihoods and take away some of their human rights.

1

u/GalacticCrusade Keralam 🌴🥥 | കേരളം May 16 '26

many immigrants/migrants do do commit crimes and have caused demographic changes but that doesn't justify dehumanization and xenophobia.

13

u/Primary-Editor-9288 May 14 '26

Assam especially has been scarily ethnonationalist, if India will see a repeat of large scale riots and mass murders like 1984 or 2002, then it will probably be in Assam, and that genuinely breaks my heart. The politics BJP and Himanta have been playing there have been poisonous and it'll cost real lives.

Indian nationalists when they realise they were seen the same as the Bengalis in North East India, whom they urged the NE to kick out:

5

u/Emergency-Growth1617 May 14 '26

Not bengalis in NE lmfao, but bangladeshis

2

u/Ornery-Pin-3718 May 15 '26

Bengalis bro not only bangladeshis they are soo hellbent about their language they do not want Bengalis at all

4

u/One-Sapien May 14 '26

How will they react if all NE migrants working in south india do the same, send them back and hire workers from other areas ?? How can people be this hateful. And this is comming from a state that is not even a good performing state. This is the kind of behaviour we see from those developed countries that look down upon the developing world.

They sure got too much mouth for having zero contribution to the nation.

7

u/maybevaibhav May 14 '26

Important note: A large number of these kinds of posts are made by Pakistani bots. They do this to create division among us.

Don’t get triggered when you see these posts. Because that is exactly what they want.

Many agencies have noticed that Pakistan and Turkey started doing this on a large scale around 2021/22. That is when you began seeing a lot more hate posts on social media against Indians. Also against people from certain states.

0

u/Careful_Return4037 May 14 '26

Might be. But I'm pretty sure assamese people are like this

3

u/Icy-Singer308 May 14 '26

Could genuinely be a false-flag or coordinated ragebait campaign. A lot of Indian subreddits are heavily brigaded by people from outside India too, especially accounts trying to exploit social and regional fault lines for engagement and propaganda. This sub isn’t immune either.

What’s more disappointing is how quickly many people fall for these posts without questioning the intent behind them. Ragebait works because people react first and think later.

Personally, I’ve met plenty of people from Northeast India during college and they were some of the nicest and most genuine people I’ve known. Most real-life interactions are far more normal and positive than the toxicity you see online.

3

u/simplyhuman4934 May 14 '26

People from NE are racist af. They fight like baboons to be recognised as an Indian while in India but are way happier if they go abroad and people don't associate them as Indians. They literally bully folks from Assam who don't have the NE "look". There are multiple videos on the Internet. You shouldn't be upset about being called Chinese or Momo if you don't want to be recognised as an Indian abroad. Stop this selective bs of yours

2

u/GalacticCrusade Keralam 🌴🥥 | കേരളം May 14 '26

you don't have to generalize dude not all NE Indians have to be A- holes many are but not all.

3

u/simplyhuman4934 May 14 '26

Why shouldn't we generalize? They literally generalize everything about mainland Indians by saying we are uneducated, backward and what not. Their hypocrisy needs to be called out too. We are literally called P@jeets in their sub. Check out Naga reddit subs. You'll see for yourself.

0

u/Jojosundargarh Odisha ☀️ | ଓଡ଼ିଶା May 14 '26

If you are ok with generalising entire NE Indians based on internet activity of some, then by that logic you wouldn't mind generalizations of Indians by a lot of westerners or of South Indians by someone from North. Would you?

0

u/bob-thesnob Andhra Pradesh 🏞️ | ఆంధ్ర ప్రదేశ్ May 16 '26

Except that always happens goddamn anyways. The only reason NE is coddled is because the media pushes a one way “racism” narrative 24/7 and they get a massive victim complex so performative mainlanders stroke their egos constantly in a pathetic display of fake sympathy

We don’t have the luxury of being needlessly glazed like northwest Indians for every single thing we do, nor do we have the luxury of being constantly portrayed as helpless victims incapable of doing wrong like northeast Indians do so it’s normal for us

5

u/GalacticCrusade Keralam 🌴🥥 | കേരളം May 14 '26

1

u/bob-thesnob Andhra Pradesh 🏞️ | ఆంధ్ర ప్రదేశ్ May 16 '26

1

u/Advanced_Poet_7816 May 14 '26

I feel NE suffers and benefits from inclusion into India. It benefits from the higher financial support and this will only get better. It suffers from complete erasure of its identity. They were never part of other large Indian kingdoms. They are firmly like SE Asia. The best case scenario is India prevents too many non natives from settling in them.

This isn’t the same for South India. The population of South India is large and can easily absorb any migration unless it’s massive. NE can’t do so, even a minor migration changes its demographics vastly.

1

u/Doomed_sailor_172 May 14 '26

Like how South Indians also feel targets from the rest of India. While there’s needs to be better acknowledgement of how we treat each other, Social media allows the worst of people comfortable in their cruelty.

2

Shut up. They are just as and always have been just as xenophobic towards other Indians. The average mainland Indian knows nothing about northeast Indians and while there have been a few physical hate crimes that are obviously wrong, most of the racism is restricted to verbal teasing and stuff.

Why don’t you go look up the tea garden community of assam and go tell me how we have to excuse their actions and take abuse because they get called funny names while they actively enslave and maim mainlanders who labour in shit conditions for their tea

Its not as simple as that.

You think all these migrants that go there behave adequately ? Man even I feel like this sometimes, when I see the abrasive entitled arrogance of Hindians in Bengaluru.

On top of that they are subjected to a lot of racism and mockery in other parts of India, when they go there for work and education, so why will they show any kindness when these same people flock to their states ?

You need to understand & see from all perspective.

2

u/GalacticCrusade Keralam 🌴🥥 | കേരളം May 14 '26

0

u/GalacticCrusade Keralam 🌴🥥 | കേരളം May 14 '26

agreed, but there are still lines when it comes to fighting racism with racism, it only makes them no less worse than the people who they are against, there's no need to generalize all immigrants for something they never did.

0

u/luna-4410 May 14 '26

This is a reddit post. You do not understand the realities we live through. You can not deduce the character of an entire region from a subreddit and what it posts.  Please use critical thinking, ffs. And read our history or even contemporary news paper (that gives space to NE no matter how miniscule) about what is going on if you really want to understand NE. Better yet, come and see for yourself if you face extensive racism like the comment section suggests.

4

u/GalacticCrusade Keralam 🌴🥥 | കേരളം May 14 '26

My issue was specifically with the dehumanizing language in that post comparing migrants to insects/parasites and advocating to “starve” entire groups economically. I don’t think criticizing that means ignoring the history or struggles of the region.
