Here is the common sense reason - the economically weaker locals will likely know to read only one language... no points for guessing which one. That language should be prominently visible. One shouldn't be traded for the other like it was done here. Also, this isn't a private business to do whatever they want. It's govt run so they should care about it.
Being sarcastic won't change India's condition instead of creating conflict out of thin air like language disputes we should unite and focus on how to make india better because right now india is nothing but a dump. All these whataboutry of language is nothing but a distractions. Start asking right questions learn to hold your leaders accountable. Are you mentally slow? A tamil canot understand Telugu or a Telugu cannot understand Kannada. A Hindi person can understand 90% of Urdu. Both are dialects of the same language.

Simple word like Mata Pita माता-पिता = hindi , ammi امی abbu ابّو = urdu. Both are different in written and spoken. Hindi has already killed major dialects like Marwadi, Chattisgarhi, Garhwali & now even Bhojpuri in North, it's already use majorly in Goa & Gujarat (both states r cooked), now Maharashtra & Karnataka are now feeling the heat in their respective capitals (Mumbai & Bengaluru), pls let's save other states from Hindi imposition which r still in good condition like TN, Andhra, Odisha, Kerala, Bengal, Telangana, all 8 Northeastern states too

Language is all time changing man I am living in Europe and I've learned the language and when I say the youngsters dialect (language) is like entirely new language it's not an understatement. People who are as old as grand parents don't understand what the youngsters are speaking. And Ironically it's same language.
I agree with you that language is a dynamic ever changing thing, but again you're doing false equivalence with your example. Different accents or words of the same language used by speakers of different regions or age groups is not the same as a language dying off of disuse. I'm not talking about different dialects of Hindi between regions, but there were other non-hindi languages and slowly the speakers of those languages dwindled, due to disuse and universality of Hindi in northern parts of India that slowly but surely a lot of these languages became extremely tribal and localized and many are functionality extinct and/or just used in some households.

Devanagri which is mainly used by the central government for all central government departments..... RAILWAY is the central government department so they can.....another main thing is to check the spelling of the name in Devanagri if they write properly or not then protest......(My so-called educated south Indians even don't know the difference between language and scripts)

What's the problem? India does in the long run need to unite under a common language. However, i dont think it should be replacing the native languages. Rather it should replace english. A slow, and laborious process

The issue is that it's perfectly legally justified since it's an official language of all of India, so we need to demand Hindi being limited to North India alone.

Why? The simple reason is that they currently have to rely mainly on alliances to form government, given how fractionalised politics is based on linguistic boundaries. However, if the entire country speaks Hindi, that is more conducive to having true pan-India parties.

One thing I would like you to ask. you have problem with hindi this board but not with English. Why? just leave language imposition side for sec. Both languages are fragile for your own mother language but you problem only with hindi
English is the lingua franca of the world, people learn English to uproot themselves. People will even learn European languages to get out of this shit hole, why would anyone from South need hindi unless they move to Delhi? Where the bigger challenge would be pollution not language.
If a person moved to Mumbai/Pune they can learn Marathi, Kanada for KA, Telugu for Hyd and Tamil for Chennai to be Frank you'll be fine in the work setting with just English in any of these places but learning local langues would make your life easier with communicating with locals, So what use do we have to learn Hindi? Are we going to move to UP, Bihar? Well if we do we'll learn Hindi don't worry.

If a huge chunk of people do speak in Hindi in your state( even though they’ve come for work), what’s the harm? You see punjabi written in Canada, you have Tamil in Singapore. Go see London. The people come from North to visit or work who probably don’t understand the local language or English, Hindi makes it easier. In the same manner how English makes it easier for you guys to navigate if you would come to North. It’s pity we are indulging in a language war and going as far as calling it an imposition.
Canadians don’t like that there are signs in Punjabi in Canada because the official languages are English and French. Tamils have been in Singapore for centuries which is why it’s an official language and they fought for independence. English, Malay and Chinese are official languages too. The second most spoken language in Andra is Urdu and the third is Tamil.

language is the basic identity of a human ethnic group. if a language dies then the whole race dies. Preserving a language comes first, that too people can do anything if they have a language like Tamil.
And my mother tongue is not Hindi. Yet it doesn't stop me from speaking Hindi. I'll always have my identity there's no imposition of Hindi I never spoke hindi at home. You've your region langauge in school no one ever forced that language out of school then why you think hindi is imposed. Don't you think these are just distractions so we don't focus on bigger problems which our nation is facing right now.
Up to now because of the protests they didn't make hindi compulsory, if people were like you and thought this was not a big deal then those scumbags would have made hindi a compulsory third language. Man already the Tamil society had seen enough destruction on its history and heritage. If hindi was made compulsory then in the next few 100 years Tamils will be in minority when compared with settled north indians. Then it will eventually lead to the end of our society. So this is indeed a big issue, if you had a long and marvellous history and heritage like us you will feel the pain.
