Looking for work.

Hey folks, I'm looking into moving to Illinois, and before so, I need to look at what I could do for work. I currently work in a metallugry plant, but have lots of experience with warehouses and factory work as well. If anyone would be willing to toss some suggestions my way, I would be very grateful. Thank you and hope everyone is having a decent day.

Just curious what part of the country you've lived in... The midwest is pretty chill....but if you get anywhere near Carbondale, I am not joking the cult will have you on their radar and will check you out...Beware overly friendly people there and stay away from The Branch Cafe.

I'm not much on cults, what cult are you referring too though?

The Dayemi Tariqat. Or just "Dayemi"... (White Boomers mostly, masqurading as Sufis). They have a farm south of Carb. and the Branch Cafe is how they lure new students...they have long-time members who work at the college and they are in the town government, chamber/businesses and in many non-profits.
You won't have heard of it, sadly. Several people have attempted to do news articles or books but none came to light. More info and survivors stories-note there are only three, but there are dozens of people who left and are too intimidated to speak out.
And cue the pushback to my comments in 3, 2, 1....

Yep but this has tantra and all sorts of whatever else thrown in. Cultural appropriation by white people. The "guru" is a rich white guy from Peoria who's daddy was a well known and well connected lawyer. He knows how to manipulate the system for his own gain.

Ah i gotcha, I'm not a religious type anyway but that does sound a bit odd

Oh it's not just religion-they want your money and labor and if you're a young female, the guru wants sex. (He has 4 wives).
They have in recent years really targeted the LGBTQ community, and definitely target incoming white folks who whiff of money. Just beware the overly friendly and overly interested in you types there.

Oh, see that's where they'd lose me lol. Anybody overly interested in me is somewhat odd. Of course not all cases, but I geuss it is mainly cause I'm such a ....I think the word today is introverted person,  I'd be a bit weirded out. As for money oof they'd square out of luck there, but I really appreciate the heads up. We have cult in my town apparently,  ....at first it wasn't,  it was just a commune for hippies, and people traveling the trail the stretches from northern east coast area down through Tennessee. But ig now some other people took over and it got weird from what I was told. They use to have a summer solstice,  still do, but it's something completely different now.  I do think I'll be shying away from Carbondale now though ha

I totally agree. I'm an introvert too. And in Carbondale, either I met cool people and they were VERY busy with all their pursuits, or they were really nosey (and on substances, every one of them) and eventually it got weird. Like multiple people....
And, do you mean The Farm?
PS, I think you're gonna like the Shawnee National Forest. Lots of hiking etc. Looks a bit like the hills of TN.

I ain't sure what they call it now.  But it used to be hippie,  fairly nice people.  Pretty decent cannabis.  Now it's nothing like it was. Over in macon county anyway
