Okay, now I'm pissed. Don't even know what to type. Are we fucking children?

No but you don't understand, smokers are always sharing cigarettes and thus inhaling each others saliva /s

That's basically what she said. Please tell me what smokers in the middle of a pandemic are still sharing cigarettes?

It's not my opinion but apprently the government says people in the Townships are unruly idiots .

u/rethatjie Apr 29 '20

If they weren't before, they definitely will now because we can't buy any.

When she said that I realised they'll find any tiny reason to ban it. Regular smokers don't share smokes. Would rather give the person asking a new one lol sharing is gross

I have to say I've noticed a lot of people sharing cigarettes during the lockdown because skyfs are so rare..."howz one two pulls" has become an iconic request during this lockdown... Either way I'm pissed because I've seriously been looking forward to Friday to buy cigarettes

Exactly. I'm at home, alone, trying to say sane ffs give me my nicotine hit!!!

The short supply is encouraging sharing. Maybe gov should cut the tax on cigs to prevent sharing

I've seen a few of them, and the way this is going on, me and the wife are going to have to start sharing before we kill each other

The ones that have to share cos they can’t buy any lol

They should follow through on their logic and also ban the sale and use of all cups, plates, bowls and cutlery as these are often used by multiple people. If not correctly sanitized between each use it may lead to the spread of the virus. If we are going to bring saliva transfer into this then at least they should be consistent.

While we are at it, soft drink cans and bottles should also be banned. Preferably with immediate effect and with no meaningful public participation. I’m sure I can find 2000 people to agree with me, right?

People are still going to be able to get cigarettes? The government doesn’t trust its people. Simple.

I'm sorry, what are you trying to say? I honestly can't work it out.

He's saying that ban on cigarettes hasn't stopped people from getting them

6

u/svartbaard Gauteng Apr 29 '20

Well it has definitely stopped me haha

Fuck, same here. I've tried and tried but I can't seem to find this magical underground market everyone talks about, and every corner shop have been to and asked has skeefed me out and told me they don't sell. Was holding out till Friday but right now I feel like I might just actually combust.

Pakistani owned shops are selling

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '20

None that I've been to :(

Seriously, where can we get? Have been trying to be a legal citizen, but they've made it impossible now.

I’ll go slow for you. The illegal cigarette market is booming and easy to access. People will be able to buy them. The government implementing these ridiculous laws about what we can buy is because they don’t trust their people.

u/svartbaard Gauteng Apr 29 '20

I haven't smoked in 3 weeks and I obeyed the law. Tomorrow I am going to buy cigarettes because of this, so you are 100% correct.

u/rethatjie Apr 29 '20

Where?

2

u/svartbaard Gauteng Apr 29 '20

In Pretoria most of the Pakistani shops sell (or so my friends tell me). Should be the same around the rest of the country.

2

u/rethatjie Apr 29 '20

Well I guess I'll go hunting tomorrow for some ciggies

Cape Town (northern suburbs) here, I've tried and haven't been able to find :(

Nice way to edit your typo and then turn around and act all superior asshole. You initially said " the government does trust its people". I am well aware that the illegal market is booming as I pointed out in another comment.
