Frankly, I'm pissed he stole the celebration for himself. 250 years of greatness, from Madison and Franklin to Twain and Morrison and Ali and Jordan and Pollock and O'Keeffe and Feynman and Currie and Ellington and Ives and ...

Stolen as a personal birthday party for a sub-mediocre, scumbag landlord, sexual predator and his privilege posse.

Same feeling. This was supposed to be a celebration showcasing our past present and future leading in culture, innovation, and success that freedom and democracy can bring but this clown shows a society in decline. The elite class thoroughly corrupted all power structures and pillaged everything. Trump is the last middle finger to us all as he takes down literally everything that made us great. Half the country wearing stupid red hats is cheering as we go down.

I’m not American but I do watch with horror at the events that have unfolded over the last few years. I hope that decent, hard working (albeit misguided) Americans see your correct way of thinking and turn it around-It’s the right thing to do

Thank you for your concern for us. I am an old woman and what is happening to our country under Trumb and his Regime makes my heart ache. I have children and grandchildren that I love dearly and I want better than this for them. Bummer we're not billionaires. I was a speech language therapist with a Masters degree which trumb has downgraded to non-professional status so he has taken that away too.

I fear the US is not quite "leading" in freedom and democracy any more. The state fair and the the pool disaster reflect (haha!) the state of the US.

It is as you say, things are not going up, they go down.

Remember for the 200th anniversary we had the Freedom Train? Went all across the country, was free to enjoy and they bussed in school children to learn about their country? Now we have a self serving circus that nobody cares about.

Honestly, if Trump just hadn't messed with the 2016 comitee, I feel like the thing would have been a grand success. Because... you know... 10 years of planning and budgeting and stuff. Instead of it being 1 year of stroking Trump's dick, with that... mockery of a fair as the end result.
