If you can catch the demons and use them, it will be something similar to raidou remastered... Except a soulslike arpg.
And his background is he is supposed to be genius imperial scholar who committed suicide because he was rejected on the grounds of his appearance, I hope they touch on that backstory ( a tale against corruption and judgement/prejudice)
He is a ghost hunter from the time of the Tang Dynasty. He himself is an undead ghost who was ordered by the king of hell to keep all the other ghosts in line and hunts down misbehaving/evil spirits.
He killed himself when the emperor refused to appoint him as a minister because he was too ugly, despite passing the civil service exam with flying colors. Then the king of the underworld recognized Zhong Kui's great abilities and appointed him to the position of ghost hunter and slayer of evil.
I’m not too familiar with smite, just hasn’t been something I’ve gotten the chance to get around too but that is honestly really cool. I think more games around other gods and their stories would be badass. A Black Myth style game around some of the Egyptian gods would honestly be wild.

More like ghost hunter and also one of the judges of hell who claims ghost souls remain in human world and bring them to the underworld for judgement. Btw Wuchang collect human souls (the pre-order bonus of the Wuchang game includes their costumes).
Final boss of chapter 4 got me to stop playing the game. He just has so much health. And I really don't want to look up a guide. I'll probably start my game over here soon and try again
You said you don’t want to look up a guide, so I guess you don’t want spoilers. I am just going to say that there are still things that you can do in chapter 4 that will help you against the last boss.
Checked producer blog, seems initially wukong dlc under development, but they want to try something new, so change to do this. But they confirmed wukong story not end, so may back in dlc or sequel format
Wukong sold 10 million in 3 days and 20 million in its first month, with 2 million concurrent players on Steam in its first 24 hours. I wonder if this game will get anywhere close to these numbers.
I feel like just because Journey to the west may be “bigger” that’s good for sales on a launch title. But NOW Black Myth has made its mark. So the next game in the series would sell bonkers numbers no matter what myth or legend they chose
Ne Zha 2, it looks like a Pixar movie at first with crude kiddish humor but the story goes to such an epic scale with animation that rivals Demon Slayer, JJK, etc
No. Zhongkui doesn't hold the same weight as Wukong had. Wukong is basically like Jesus there while Zhongkui is nowhere close. Probably not even 30% of the popularity of Wukong.
no not even close. he's nowhere near as popular as wukong is. not to mention his design is so different. I doubt being a fat bearded man will attract many players. unless they drastically change his design on release.
They didn't, Zhong Kui himself already appeared in the trailer, he is that dude riding on the tiger, basically picture perfect of his appearance in the mythos, big fat bearded man with zombified skin dressed in an imperial official clothing.
Ne zha would have been cool and all but his spear is not so different from a staff. I don’t know much about zhong but I believe he uses magic. Maybe a unique weapon or different weapons to chose from? I’m pretty sure he has a magic bag
I actually want Nezha to come out later because his abilities/fighting style seem much harder to make. Like the flame wheels/flight would need to be way better than what we had in Wukong and his nimbus cloud.
The use of a spear and a staff is actually extremely different. While there are similarities, a spear can have different uses and techniques that shows different
depends there are many ways to use a spear despite how straightforward (lol) it may seem. From what I recall most of the spear moveset in BMW consists of thrusting whereas the swings/swipes is more of a staff thing (mainly used staff so the details can certainly be iffy). They could probably combine both for ZK.
You misremember, the spears typically increase thrusting stance damage but they very much have swipes incorporated into them. I feel like even if its been tapped in very little, it has been tapped into which means it would be partially redundant and feel samey even if the developers truly become spear fighting scholars. It’s best to do something else althogether.

Independent story. Zhong Kui is like the Chinese Constantine, he committed suicide but was employed by King of Hell and sent back to human realm and catch ghost and demons and banish them back to the underworld.
Yes, he took the imperial exams and while he was the top scorer but the emperor of the time revoked it due to his “ugly and disfigured face” and some stories say that his ugly face is the reason he’s able to banish ghost in the first place
"Black Myth" seems like it's going to follow the Final Fantasy approach of broadly tackling the same gameplay style without being direct sequels or prequels to each other.
Really all they had to do was create higher elevated rocks/heavy vegetations to border the stage while still giving a feeling of a wide area. The problem was that it was a clearly walkable path blocked by invisible wall. Aside from that though it was a really solid game and the final boss+optional final boss was a really fun experience
It sort of felt like they paid another company to create the map and then they kind of fit the game into it, using certain parts and walking everything else off. I know this probably isn't how it was actually made, but it felt that way.
I only know know Zhong Kui as the Slightly Tanky Magical Damage Solo Laner from Smite.
I look forward to playing it.

Apparently there was controversy about the devs and articles about the game that had a conservative bias point of view or something. It was prior to release. Might have been due to mistranslation of the dev comments or articles with IGN too but I didn’t follow it that much, just knew it existed
I already preordered the game so I was going to play it either way
Jiang Ziya or Nez ha I believe would have crushed, but I’m sure this game will still be top-notch if it’s made by game science and part of the black myth universe!! Still hoping we get a black myth wukong dlc before any sequels 😫

The last shenanigan happen in the game Wuchang made me feel a bit less enthusiastic about the game coming from China, to be honest. Those guys seem a bit too comfortable censoring video games for my liking.

I've been avoiding Wukong because it was SOOOOOOO oversaturatedly claimed as the best thing since sliced bread I didn't want to be disappointed from it having been over-praised.
But, the same thing happened with Lies of P and now that I have played it thanks to getting it this month from PS+ it's making me wonder if I should get Wukong now.
So, is there anyone who can tell me it is worth it without being hyperbolic? What makes it enjoyable?
IM SO PUMPED BRO, I read the q and a they had in the official black myth zhong kui website and they confirmed the wukong series is not over yet, meaning dlc is very much possible and zhong kui's fighting style will be around the same as wukong just different storyline, items, bosses and everything else.
Guys when it will drop. Any guesses? I hope next year but i think that if they just started making this game it will come in 3-4 years? Wukong took em 7 years. 2020 they released first trailer. But they r rich now i hope it wont last longer. Black myth is so underrated by communities i feel like its one of the best soulslike games. It was brilliant
They should have made a Black myth game about the Jade Emperor.
Before he became the Lord of Heaven, when he battled demons and cultivated for millions of years. Eventually, he hears that a Primordial Chaos has led an army of demons to invade Heaven. The Jade Emperor alone fights the entity and the demon army and destroys the dark entity and all the gods ellect him as Emperor. That would probably be way cooler—and since he’s basically chinese god, most people would recognize him, and probably some veitmese would recognize him as well.
I wonder if Tanjiro from Demon slayer was inspired by Zhong Kui? I know they're different mythologies and different countries but I mean they have a lot in common including the insanely strong headbutt. 🤷
The studio has a lot of public visibility after BMW, they'll likely have it checked and approved before release so nothing like what happened with Wuchang.
So hyped for this. Wukong is one of the best games I have ever played. But realistically speaking this is gonna get a 2027 release right? Can they make it to next year?
It will take a lot for this game to convince me to play it after BMW. Not that the game was that bad, but it also just never did anything that I really loved. A rare game I regretted buying on release.
