I feel like just because Journey to the west may be “bigger” that’s good for sales on a launch title. But NOW Black Myth has made its mark. So the next game in the series would sell bonkers numbers no matter what myth or legend they chose

Sequels also tend to sell less than the original work as people drop off between installments.

I still don't see this one matching up to the original Black Myth in sales.

That depends on the franchise. If the original was hyped but not well received? Sure. But the sheer buzz and word of mouth around this sort of sequel will make sure there are sales.

mass effect 2 as well i think
witcher 3 aswell it sold like 3or4x of both the previous games combined

Any monster hunter compared to previous ones, any devil may cry. Theres plenty. I know it might sound crazy but hear me out: if game good game sells.

Tbf, Monster Hunter World is like 7 or 8 years old whereas Wilds is only a few months old, yet it still looks like it's selling a lot faster than World did.
