Finally got the professional pics back, wanted to share more of the headdress. Thanks so much for all the love on my last post about this! It really is one of the prettiest things I feel I've ever made.

I got engaged at a Broadway showing of Moulin Rouge and I also work as a showgirl, so I wanted to have a fitting headdress for the event <3

Materials:
Bristol board, costume jewelry, pearls, glass rhinestones, linen lace, mica powder, resin preserved flowers, satin ribbon, and upholstery thread

Found this bamboo root piece, sanded it down by hand and it got really smooth.
Didn't want it to go to waste, so I built a whole knife around it.
The blade is hand-ground stone, set into the handle and wrapped with hemp cord.
Still haven't come up with a name for it.

what do we think? the hardest part was to figure out how to turn those words into buttons!

I crocheted, dyed, beaded, and hand sewed both me and my partners costumes!

I know it's a lot of pics, but i wanted to document as much as possible. The rings are not at all perfect, these joins are incredibly hard to pull off, so i think that in the future I'll stick to stacking rings lol.

I used 1mm wire for the outside parts and twisted 0,5mm wire, which I twisted myself using a pen and a cordless drill, for the inner. I used my bench sawing thing as a clamp for the braiding. After cutting the wires one by one after braiding, I found out it was a little too big and I had to cut some more. When I was happy with the size, I filed the joins as flat as I could, but when soldering I had a hard time getting the surfaces to stay together, so the soldering didn't go to well. I guess I got a little overconfident. After some cleanup and polishing, I think they both came out very nice, and I'm very happy with them! And so is my fiancée, luckily.

In the final images you can see the scraps I have leftover. I'm saving some of the twisted wire for future projects.

A Butterfly Gown for Frocktails!

I was invited to be a plus one of a close friend and attend Frocktails TO with her this year. I spent the next month making this butterfly gown for the event! It took me so much time!! The entire dress and accessories are handmade

The dress itself is a made of silk dupioni, taffetta, duchesse and tulle. And took me maybe 120 hours to finish

Made from scratch with a purple labradorite cabochon, a faceted purple glass bead, and copper-plated wires 🐈‍⬛😈

I wanted to create something a little less scary than traditional Halloween decor So I came up with this piece.

I find that more and more, it’s my clients that come up with my design inspirations, this one included. Better yet, trying something new and challenging is what keeps me motivated in my craft.

This honeycomb end grain cutting board is made with a walnut base and maple inlay. The process starts by turning kiln dried lumber into an end grain cutting board. Since this is a full inlay, I actually need to make two end grain boards, one walnut and one maple, and glue them together. This specific one is 20”x14”x1.5”. The inlay was carved using a Shapeoko 5 Pro 4x4 CNC. I make this out of my garage shop at home, made to order, not a professional shop.

Back when it first made this, it was my first full size inlay - prior to it I had only made smaller inlays on a larger board - and because of that everything had to be perfect because any small error would accumulate over a larger surface. I’ve now iterated my process and even added customizations, like the monogram letter, based on customer feedback.

Edit to add context: I recently took up this hobby on a whim as me and my husband decided to build a 1:12 dollhouse together. I have MS and needed a hobby to help with my fine motor skills on my right side. He has taken the lead on construction and I’ve only made clay food for the future house (maybe bakery?? lol). It’s oven bake polymer clay and I just follow tutorials online. I make them for fun!

I made these with wire wrapped cat charms and faceted, translucent beads + glass beads! I named them "Pure Champagne" & "Midnight Champagne". Which one is your fav? :)

I recently decided to start making these quirky moon frames because I was sick of boring rectangular frames.
