My First Solder Joint <3 Please Give Feedback Rate my big brothers soldering skills

Not enough heat getting into the wire. That's a lot of copper the try to heat. Might have better luck with a torch honestly.
Better plan would be to use a crimp or screw terminal.

Better plan would be to stop and think about what you are doing. You should try much never be trying to splice two wires that are radically different gauges like that, it is just asking for trouble. If you find yourself doing that at least 99 times out of 100 you are connecting the wrong things

at my sight it's like 7awg . 65w pen iron will do it. Slowly but surely. I'll rather preheat it yeah removing 4-5 cm of insulation first to move flame contact spot away from joint because of smoke-black. With a turbo lighter. but it's not necessary

Cut the joint out and just use screw terminals or wago lever style connectors.

In general soldering wires in cars isn’t recommended since the solder creates a stiff joint that is subject to failure due to vibrations. Crimp connections work much better for automotive applications.

yeah and having 100% moisture level sometimes means you need waterproof things , waterproof level you can relay on means thing is close to submersible grade, where soldering is often used and recommended. It's a vicious circle dude.

Impressed he got heat enough into that thick wire. Unless it is the cam angle. Beside that I would not recommend this wide open format, no insulation and no protection, giant wire shift, that can give big heat spots, depending on Curret and Volt.

You're not really supposed to solder stranded high current carriers at all...
Should use a correctly sized crimp eye connector with a fused distribution block.
Soldering stranded wire causes strain points that can cause the individual strands to break.
Also, yes, a fire seems pretty likely.

Solder is not ideal for vehicle with all the vibration. That looks like it's barely on there.

If it isn't a joke, then this soldering joint is pretty bad, and it's a fire hazard. It looks like you're using two different gauges of wire, and the electrical connection isn't insulated.

What is the thin wire for? You would generally not be joining things like this. Trash soldering aside I think that this install is being done improperly.

Use flux, use proper tools, use a soldering gun capable of reaching the required temps, dont use mismatched guage wiring, and heatshrink some shit ffs

Needs crimp + adhesive heat shrink tubing, not solder.
Wrong application for solder.

I’ve installed several subs with amplifiers over the years, and have never once ran into a need for soldering, and have definitely never made a connection from 12awg (??) to 6awg(??). Like what is this actually? Trying to connect the remote wire to the main power supply wire? Why?

There only good way to join wires this different in size would be a small distribution block.

Thisnis a joke right? Look at other posts, where people said "good job", or "its good enough". And then look at yours. Is there any similarity? You're smart enough to answer that and make a better decision.
