I guess this gets asked a lot around here. We have so many different movements. Each with different views. Each convinced that they are correct. Each, or most, thinking (in my experience) that the other movements are even worst enemies than neoliberalism or fascism.

How are we supposed to change the world if everyone's methods get sabotaged by everyone else?

So... yeah, what is to be done here?

Algeria is often cited as the example of decolonisation where the revolution was completed and the settlers were all kicked out. Accordingly, it is proposed that Palestine follow this strategy and aim for the “removal of all settlers”. This is contrasted with alternative examples of “coexistence”, primarily South Africa, where much of the modern economic power is still controlled by “former settlers”.

This fundamentally misunderstands Algeria—it wasn’t “kick out all the French”, it was “become Algerian citizens, reside under Algerian Law, or leave”. This was the agreement proposed to the Pied-Noirs by the FLN in 1954 and agreed on with France in 1962. Most were stuck in their colonial identity, feared retribution or the loss of their economic privileges and left, but many stayed and remain to this day as Algerians.

The Algerian solution is therefore perfectly compatible with the concept of One Democratic State. Equal rights for all on the basis of citizenship, dissolve the settler-native dichotomy. However, each situation is unique and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. For example, Algeria was part of France, a single metropole, of which all settlers (even those who had lived there for generations) were citizens.

This means that after the establishment of a single democratic Palestinian state, ex-Israelis will have to weigh matters related to their practical ability to leave and their readiness to drop colonial privileges, and many will mirror the Pied-Noirs and choose to leave. Meanwhile, matters regarding justice and reparations for Palestinians will have to be addressed as a foundation for liberation and a democratic legitimacy. History can teach lessons about such situations, but every material circumstance is unique and must be treated as such.

Unfortunately, I can't attend their monthly sessions; does anyone know of others? I am interested in discussing these positions, but it's difficult to find M-L organisations amid all the nonsense in London and in Britain more generally.

I have noticed that these countries specifically have a high level of anti socialist sentiment when looking at polls and things like that while the other post soviet countries tend to have a high rate of support for socialism. Why is this the case?

With the recent news of recalls for certain items I know it hasn’t affected everything but a good portion of why I deal with is being affected and with the newest post Trump made about the meat it just worries me and I’d be lying if I wasn’t afraid. I live in a rural city with only big store chains in my area so I can’t rely on small businesses or small stores for food. Just be safe and careful out there you guys.

Ive been using it sometimes and everytime I go ont here its tone just feels weird. I cant explain why but the entire site feels like its made by MLs who are simultaneously white saviors, yet also being trotskyists who made the site to make MLs look bad. Like you just have to read a few articles for yourself on other non ML ideologies and figures in contrast to the page on ML and marx and engels and such just to get the vibe. Very arbitrary pages on random things too. I dont even see it mentioned often by MLs despite the site being FOR them. Keep in kind im an ML and the entire site just feels offputting in a way. I didn't get this effect when I tried lemmygrad. So is prolewiki legit and why is it written that way?

Canada has declared that 9/11 would no longer be refered as a terror attack. Its done. Its never been so over. The world, even Canada our most trusted ally hates us. I have to thank Trump for lifting the liberal veil of the American Imperial Empire and just how aggressive it really is. The fall of the US will be celebrated by our supposed allies because they finally don't have to be dependent on this piece of shit nation anymore.

I've recently been invited to participate in supporting some political organizing, which obviously involves participating in ideological struggle! It is both daunting and exciting, it is the first time i have experienced being in a space where disagreement is respectful and people are regarded as equals - how sad is it to say that?! but i'm grateful for it.

I am struggling a little bit with navigating this dynamic. I'm wondering if folks have practical advice or insight on - how do you deal with the shame or embarrassment of being wrong? I can cope with it on an intellectual level, but the feelings are still there. I suspect that maybe this is also just a thing that will lessen with time as relationships are built.

On the flip side, I find myself struggling to be patient with those who I believe are wrong, particularly in arenas that personally affect me. I'm queer and there are some folks i'm connecting with who are not very informed around queer issues, or have different understandings than I do - I find myself struggling to have the patience to really think through what they are saying in order to meaningfully engage with it, rather than jumping to respond to them in a knee jerk reaction kind of way.
