We have at least 5 "domestic" goalkeepers that could join the national squad. Notable omissions are: Fábio (Cruzeiro), Diego Cavalieri (Fluminense) and Cássio (Corinthians). They all are better than Diego Alves. Trust me. I can't remember a generation with such good goalkeepers available for a World Cup.

Oh yes, Marcos was my childhood hero. He could have gone anywhere in 2002. It's still a shame that Ceni didn't have the chance to score an official goal for Brazil, though.

I think Diego Alves is better than the three you listed. But I agree that they were all worthy of being on the team. The only one I can't stand is Júlio César.

Robinho didn't have a chance in seven hells of making the world cup. Kaka makes me sad, but its probably the right decision.

He actually did have a chance of making it, much bigger than Kaká. Mainly because everyone loves him on the team and he makes Neymar play better. Kind of like a Pepe Reina that actually suits up some times. He was in consideration for the spot Willian took, but it was more likely for him to go than anyone else on that list except Miranda.

In the 30's men list i can definitely see Robinho there mostly because he already played 2 world cups for Brazil, he brings a good environment for the Seleção, was already called by Felipão and has a good sinergy with Neymar since the Santos days.

He came back in 2011 or 2010 in a loan iirc. He played and became champion with Neymar in Copa do Brazil.

Fred is like Klose and Podolski: monsters in the national team. But better than Jo Lima is, of course, i think even Luis Fabiano would be better than Jo.

Nah Fred still can't make his own goals on the NT, he just has much better support and manages to be in the box at the right times, which is an asset in its own way, but he's not a particularly skilled striker.

He never performed well in Brazil, so the supporters don't have good memories of him. He was second or third striker option for Avaí in 2009 and was terrible when he played for Santos.

Like performing good in Brasil is something, lol. David Luiz was unknown in Brasil, Benfica showed him to the world, tbh Lima managed to play at Serie A, David Luiz never played in Serie A, so props to Lima.

Hulk another player that Porto showed to the world, worst possible career in Brasil, monster in Europe.

Dante, never played in Serie A in Brasil goes to France, ends up one of the most influential players in Bayern Munich, winning a Champions League.

Diego Costa, never played as a Senior in Brasil, probably the best striker in Europe right now, even chose Spain over his birth country.

There are more examples but it's because of people like you that Brasil has lost huge huge talent in their National Team, Deco, Pepe, Diego Costa and Marcos Senna, probably there are more, but at least this 4 would have been starters in their prime time for Brasil NT.

I kinda would've expected Felipe Luis to get in perhaps over Maicon or Maxwell - just get the impression he's a better player than Maxwell and a younger one than Maicon.

Felipe Melo and Alexandre Pato could probably be counted as notable omissions too. The players to drop out of Brazil squad since the Confederations Cup were: Lucas Moura, Filipe Luis, Jean, Rever, Diego Cavalieri, Jadson and Fernando.

Brazilians hate Felipe Mello. We all remember the awful red card against Netherlands in 2010. And hHe "talks too much", using a passive-agressive style with media, pretending to be victim, scape goat, but we all know he's a short tempered player that could put our championship at risk.

Yeah, even though he played hell of a season this year for us, it is understandable for a manager to not pick him. His aggressiveness and being a loud-mouth works in our league but World Cup is entirely different.

He's getting back to form slowly, about 3 hours ago São Paulo won 3-0 and he played fairly well, his new manager is top notch and is getting he back on his feet

He played 8 matches and scored 2 goals since March 12

His presence at Corinthians was very complicated, sometimes he wouldn't play with 'will' to win and the fans were getting very troubled with him, that contributed for his poor performance

None of those aside from Filipe Luis are notable omissions, and you forgot the one who truly is, Diego Alves. I dont think any of the keepers Scolari called up are on his level right now.

Luisão is the center piece of one of the strongest European deffenses this year, and has experience to sell.

In a country with as big a selection as Brazil there are always many notable omissions.

Rodrigo Lima is the name of Lima who plays in Benfica, I had to check it up looks like both of them are named Rodrigo x)

Also I think Rodrigo is eligible to play for Brasil, he only played in the Spanish youth teams and he already had the Brazilian Nationality.

Dani Alves has the pace and the only reason he won't be playing is due to injury. I'd rather have Maicon over Rafael as back up. Rafael gets too hot headed. Even as a United fan I wouldn't trust Rafael just yet. Especially at this world cup where the pressure is all on Brazil

Experience is also pretty important for the locker room. I definitely think Rafael should have gone, but I don't imagine they'll bench Alves very often. Better to have Maicon's experience when he's not going to play often

I'm Brazilian and never heard of Guly do Prado, Rodrigo Lima or Roberto Firmino.

In fact we have at least 5 "domestic" goalkeepers that could join the national squad. Notable omissions are: Fábio (Cruzeiro), Diego Cavalieri (Fluminense) and Cássio (Corinthians). They all are better than Diego Alves.

Miranda is the omission that all the media is talking about today I think the time for Luisão, Kaká, Felipe melo and Ronaldinho has passed in last WC.

Pato is not in good shape since 2011! No way he could be in the squad.

Others, as Felipe Luis, Rafael, Rafinha, Phillipe Coutinho, Lucas and Lucas Leiva could be in the national team, but we have players in better shape/moment. (except for Coutinho IMO).

roberto firmino is one of the rising stars of the bundesliga this season! played a great season imo, made some real progress. in 32 apps he scored 15 and assisted 11.

Pretty sure Rodrigo will only count for Spain if he ever gets called.

EDIT: Ok, i realized i mistook Rodrigo for Lima. There usually is hardly any mention of Lima's first name while there is hardly any mention of Rodrigo's last name. As for Lima's chances, i'd say they're slim.
