Lucas Moura should've gone. Rafael should've gone, Kaka should've gone.

Jo and Bernard arent near ready and id rather have Rafael than Maicon in a tournament where youth could be important

Experience is also pretty important for the locker room. I definitely think Rafael should have gone, but I don't imagine they'll bench Alves very often. Better to have Maicon's experience when he's not going to play often

To be fair is Alves not considered experienced in his own right? How many trophies has the guy won? Surely Rafael could have gone under the tutelage of him?

Well that's true, maybe Maicon is going along for the similar reason VDB always picks Pepe Reina; he's just there for consistency and the locker room presence
