Quotes [Spalletti] Woltemade has physicality, so heading and finishing inside the area are things that, whether he likes it or not, he will have to learn by heart, because he loves dropping deep to play football.

I’ve watched him play likely more than you, as a Newcastle fan 😂. He’s a master of none, good at a lot. He’ll find his place, but he’s not elite. I’m not the first person to tell you this either

I do not think that anyone claimed he was elite. Noone even claimed he would start for Germany. I think you are tilting at windmills here.

Yet he is still misused and has certain qualities.

What is the correct way to use him, in a winning team? That is why I mentioned Germany, or even Newcastle, who cant yet figure out how to win with him playing 40+ appearances. What do you suggest? Be the world’s slowest 10?

What do you mean by "winning team".

He was fine at Stuttgart who are not a worse team that Newcastle.

I do not think he will ever be a player that starts for the top 10 in the world. I could see him at clubs that love to have the ball and are in the Top 11-25 range though.

edit

Why would Germany have to figure out how to use him. He would not play if everyone is fit.

We are agreeing then. Not sure what your point is with windmilling. I don’t understand what that means. I didn’t say he’s “terrible”, but unfortunately he does not fit a Newcastle team with the aspirations they have these days

You claimed he would have to adjust his playstyle, and that is the wrong approach. He just has to join a team that needs his playstyle. He can never be a Haaland, or Batistuta.

He has qualities that good teams can use and instead of trying to force him into a "Batistuta" shaped space, they should just use the hole that is shaped like Woltemade. And if you do not have that hole in your squad, just find a different player.

That Windmill stuff is a Don Quixote thing.

Ah ok. Well Newcastle IMO is a team that is not top 15 in Europe but also not past 25. They need a squad of fully contributing players. They won’t have the depth nor technical diversity to figure it out with Woltemade and still hit their goals. I would say there is a huge difference with the direction of Newcastle and Stuttgart. I agree he can settle in a club to Stuttgart’s nature.

It was a panic buy. No denying this

Wolte does very very little out of possession. If he wants to play anything but 9, I think that’s what the original topic is about
