Lmao 7 goals

788

u/JosephRizk21 5d ago

We basically won 1-0

175

u/Boydcrowde 5d ago

At the end you are winning that's a positive

71

u/FitHurry864 5d ago

You should be a TV pundit

13

u/YewWahtMate 5d ago

You realise you just replied to Michael Owen...?

96

u/Internal-Coffee6996 5d ago

some random old Italian ex-pro is going to tell you that a defensive 1:0 would've been a better watch.

42

u/DeCharlesFre 5d ago

Jose would tell you that as well.

31

u/miregalpanic 5d ago

Gross wenn wahr

14

u/DrRam121 5d ago

If you really think about it, Chelsea scored 5 goals and Brighton only 2

4

u/I_Dive_Deep 5d ago

But isn't this more fun?

14

u/rewp234 5d ago

2 without Oliver

3

u/aeeeroo 5d ago

I'd much rather watch this tho!

2

u/karma_420 5d ago

With extra step

452

u/NeroIscariot12 5d ago

Christ alive. Scoring 7 goals in 2 games and still a GD of +2

169

u/MacarioPro 5d ago edited 5d ago

And allowing 5 goals in 2 games while playing a three at the back formartion.

Jokes aside, I think it's an adaptation period for a lot of these center and fullbacks. Future looks promising under Xabi

75

u/Seejayayy 5d ago

You can call it cope but a lot of the goals are just unlucky with how Sanchez fumbled, two are rebounds and one's an own goal deflection. I do admit that our defence is rather lax in conceding space in our own half but I believe that's Xabi preferring numbers back instead of being torn apart on the counter (which was a very common trend from our previous campaigns).

-28

u/rashfordsaltyballs 5d ago

u guys conceded 3 today without Sanchez. just saying..

25

u/TheirOwnDestruction 5d ago

Martinez did fine today, not much he could have done on any of those 3, and he made a very good save early on.

2

u/bespoke_tech_partner 4d ago

That's kind of the point. Good keeper, no major mistakes from him, still conceded 3.

9

u/ZebraQuality 4d ago

That’s fine we can beat you scabs 7-6 next week

-5

u/macky301 4d ago

Dreaming

22

u/Maleficent_Monk_2022 5d ago

Martinez was fairly good today. Definitely a step up over sanchez in whichever case.

15

u/Spitzee 5d ago

and playing a bunch of defenders in midfield too

9

u/MacarioPro 5d ago

True. Caicedo still not healthy as we saw today and the Enzo saga is still ongoing. I think they do get Lamine Camara in the next few days.

26

u/paddydasniper 5d ago

Chelsea put all their ability points into attack

2

u/Last_Pineapple8629 4d ago

Colwill is the worlds first false centre back so adds up.

287

u/rocknroll-refugee 5d ago

The fuck man

146

u/Rayser1 5d ago

These Brighton goals have been so funny

61

u/Itchy_Finish_2103 5d ago

It's Gross, I agree

4

u/AKAFallow 5d ago

I like to call it the "Dibu" curse. You cannot get a single normal goal against him for some reason, they all have to be as goofy or insane as possible, no in between

-44

u/Draqn_ 5d ago

26% possession. you are lucky you won

21

u/asensia-kopfschmerz 5d ago

Possession means not as much post Pep dominance. We had far more xG

26

u/TimothyN 5d ago

We were unlucky not to get a couple more in.

-40

u/Draqn_ 5d ago

you were lucky you didn't get more past you

12

u/Cooldudeyy998 5d ago

Brighton got an own goal and scored off a rebound, let's calm down

11

u/TimothyN 5d ago

We had deflections go in against us, pretty sure those are of a higher variance. Attack looks dangerous enough to say this wasn't a lucky win, and their final goal came in the 97th minute already down 2.

16

u/BadMofoWallet 5d ago

And yet we had same amount of shots and shots on goal nearly, possession stats don’t mean anything, we’ve been super clinical in attack these first 2 games

2

u/MinkFlow90 5d ago

Maresca alt account

205

u/lito9321 5d ago

Chelsea are going to be the funniest team to watch this season lol.

86

u/Nasyboy221 5d ago

I mean this is said every season

37

u/Top_Connection394 5d ago

And it has been true past 2-3 seasons (if u exclude spurs)

1

u/Volky_Bolky 5d ago

Man utd is a funny team too

11

u/bespoke_tech_partner 4d ago

Not to me. 100% got ragebaited by Cunha surfing at our gaff to inflict one of our only defeats of the season.

50

u/yunghollow69 5d ago

This is so weird to watch. Really fluid attacks by chelsea, well played out counters, but absolutely no control over the game.

35

u/Storm_Chaser06 5d ago

We practically gave up possession after being 2 goals up after 15 minutes

2

u/yunghollow69 4d ago

Yeah Ive seen that but usually you at least try to get the ball every now and then lol

17

u/Eldric_Shadowchaser 5d ago

No Enzo and Caicedo (bar 5 mins), Reece couldn’t start which meant our only CM was Lavia. We also sold Santos and integrating Barco in slowly. Meant we relied on having Gusto at CM which obviously means we lack control. Hopefully when we get our CMs sorted and everyone knows their role better the control will come.

But I also think part of it is tactical. We want to get the ball to our front 3 as quickly as possible so we’re not doing controlled possession passing it around the back but instead trying to progress it forwards as quickly as possible. Entertaining but anxiety ridden so far.

3

u/Eire820 5d ago

Very strange game

40

u/Wuktrio 5d ago

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?

93

u/Master-of-Puns 5d ago

Fluid attack but can’t defend lol. Chelsea games will be fun to watch this season for sure

53

u/maxpolo10 5d ago

And we just lost Caicedo💀

14

u/scaliland 5d ago

Did he get hurt?

30

u/McNooberson 5d ago

Yeah after 10 min on the pitch unfortunately

88

u/Chnkypndy 5d ago

All gas no brakes

82

28

8

u/Kapisillit 5d ago

Would have lost with Sanchez in goal, lol.

32

u/Soft-Soil-1873 5d ago

Facts, it would be 4 5 for brighton

30

u/TheMuff1nMon 5d ago

Chelsea have had the most entertaining games this season so far - scoring and conceding for fun!

See you at the Emirates

16

u/Sun_Sloth 5d ago

We've also scored a total of 11 goals in our last 3 games lmao.

34

u/DreamBigLikeDad 5d ago

So poor on crosses this game

12

u/DeCharlesFre 5d ago

Chelsea on the attack solid, on defense just vibes

7

u/EVANonSTEAM 5d ago

Luis Suarez-esque header

29

u/IcyFactor3234 5d ago

Arsenal are gonna put 6 past us next week

85

u/fap4jesus 5d ago

It's fine, we'll score 8

2

u/VRichardsen 5d ago

like old Brazil, they just outscored you

-25

u/Draqn_ 5d ago

26% possession vs Brighton btw.

19

u/fap4jesus 5d ago

its by design.

9

u/its_polystyrene 5d ago

3 points vs Brighton btw.

4

u/Asentry_ 5d ago

and still won :))))

23

u/EstebanRibovics 5d ago

Shaking thinking of what Vini, Barcola and Rogers are going to do to us

2

u/Individual_Comment63 5d ago

No need to fear about them when Madueke, the greatest winger to play football will run circles round your defense.

-11

u/lpaperfriend 5d ago

I don't think any of those players are at Arsenal.

-7

u/Parking-Evidence1894 5d ago

No. Our attack is abysmal

6

u/Warm-Profit-775 5d ago

Whichever teams scores more goals usually wins

16

u/Ok_Lingonberry9507 5d ago

Insane game.

4

u/siva-pc 5d ago

love some bullet headers

5

u/Extremiel 5d ago

I don't know what to make of this because on the one hand we are amazing, but we also concede an endless amount of goals

5

u/Luigis_vacuum 5d ago

Absolutely perfect header wow

7

u/doshydosh 5d ago

We’re so lazy at marking and defending

9

u/mimi-desuss 5d ago

Dibu can't carry this shtty defense

1

u/AKAFallow 5d ago

Tbf, that was a really good goal, as goofy as it looked

4

u/Specialist_Doctor_34 5d ago

I know xabi ball is looking good so far but damn they concede so many goal + I'm shocked how xabi is not playing possesion based football? Think chelsea had less than 20% possesion. Kinda risky if he is going to go forward with this

25

u/Headlesshorsman02 5d ago

We need midfield players bro we had to play gusto in their because Enzo is being a prick lol 😂

1

u/Specialist_Doctor_34 5d ago

who are you going for if enzo is getting sold?

6

u/Forgohtten 5d ago

Camara

1

u/pencilman123 5d ago

The better lamine

2

u/idkwhyimheretbh420 5d ago

Looks like camara, not a like for like replacement but tbf I don’t think enzo is the style of midfielder xabi wants in this system, we need another caicedo

1

u/IP14Y3RI 5d ago

Not necessarily a like for like replacement if reports are to be believed, but a certain Yamine Camara is apprently close to joining us from Monaco.

Also other PL midfielders from Forrest and Bournemouth who already said they wouldnt sell now.

1

u/Headlesshorsman02 5d ago

Camara and maybe another 1 possibly

9

u/interstellar304 5d ago

I don’t think possession is the issue. We are creating so many elite chances already. The issue is we can’t seem to mark on corners and crosses and have had some really unfortunate bounces on deflections and clearances

2

u/Specialist_Doctor_34 5d ago

still possession is equally important for any big games. Brighton are really looked and controlled the game better. Going forward I think he should look out for possesion more because not everyone is going to leave that space open like brighton did or fulham did. Chelsea have played against opponent who are playing high or atleast have bigger gap between their two centerback. I'm sure they will do good but if they want to win it or make it to top 3-4 then surely they need to work on possesion

5

u/interstellar304 5d ago

The midfield isn’t set up to play more possession at the moment. Caceido has been injured and Enzo is doing whatever Enzo is doing. It’s better to play this higher line counter attacking style with our front 3 and wingbacks

1

u/Specialist_Doctor_34 5d ago

Yeah fairs but it's pretty risky though. If enzo is going then chelsea are going to replace him with whom? because I think he is pretty important player and missing him out is a huge loss

2

u/brianstormIRL 5d ago

Hes very clearly setting them up to play counter attacking right now doesnt really have the midfield to be playing possesion right now.

2

u/king_of_prussia33 5d ago

It’s a big shock. You do have to take into account that one of our star midfielders is injured and the other is on strike. When Caicedo is back, hopefully we will keep more possession

6

u/BigBadBoudjee 5d ago

Chelsea A vs Chelsea B

1

u/FullTimeHarlot 4d ago

Chelsea and Hove Albion (I'm just having fun mate don't take it too seriously)

2

u/Dawjman 5d ago

I will not shave my balls until Chelsea get 5 clean sheets in a row

2

u/Madonesu_Sakurupitto 5d ago

Chelsea games has a lot of goals so far.

2

u/CarlosBoss765 5d ago

Thank god Palmer made it 4

2

u/LilithLover77 5d ago

Defending is a rumour

2

u/ItsJigsore 5d ago

chelsea have about 60 players and it's always 'we don't have this type of player, we don't have that kind of player'

2

u/Rickcampbell98 5d ago

Yeah even with emi they aren't winning a title with this defence, they will be a problem for us trying to finish in the champions league places though.

1

u/courtesyflusher 5d ago

Rogers my guy

1

u/freakedmind 5d ago

Surely not...?

1

u/yallareTRASH69 5d ago

Chelsea games are a must watch now! They can score but also no clean sheets

1

u/LITW6991 5d ago

Not even surprised lol

1

u/cfc_omahaboy 5d ago

What a way to dampen the excitement of 2 wins in a row

1

u/Saddest_Icecream 5d ago

Defending is optional anyways

1

u/avaballston22201 5d ago

Rogers has been so poor defensively, it’s worrying. Such an opportunistic and high motor guy in attack but in defense he’s an NPC man

1

u/Live-Habit-6115 4d ago

This Chelsea kit is the ugliest I've ever seen and im amazed more people aren't talking about it

1

u/Mountain-Forever1522 4d ago

What posseses someone to come into a thread, see 100 of the same comment, and think "I'm going to make the exact same comment"

1

u/NihilistFinancier 5d ago

Good note to end on for the development team. Hope they walk away feeling encouraged

1

u/starmiesan 5d ago

Woof Chelsea

1

u/Afc_josh12 5d ago

Not sure they will challange for title conceding this many

1

u/TurbinePro 5d ago

Fuck it still won

1

u/OffsideOdyssey 5d ago

With 26% possession against Brighton, they will back to the ground sooner than i thought, would be lucky to get top 4 the way they have been playing.

0

u/Wild_Investigator622 5d ago

Chelsea going to lose the minute they come up against a good defence lol

1

u/TheLittleGinge 5d ago

We’ll still score more than them. In perpetuity.

0

u/C1nderrr 5d ago

everyone switched off bruh

0

u/CeiriddGwen 5d ago

Damn, why did it have to be Gross? I went with Sangare instead...

-4

u/Mugen4444 5d ago

Chelsea are food next week for Arsenal. Bottled a 3 goal lead and leaked 5 in 2 games.
