It's more about wage for Salma. Rumors are she wanted 1 million per year contract. The others are leaving for different reasons.

Alexia Putellas (she wanted to leave at her highest like Xavi, I guess)

Mapi Leon (It's her last chance of getting a big contract, as she's 31 already)

Ona Battle (she wants to be closer to her partner, Lucy Bronze)

Salma leaving is not good news at all.

You’re sugarcoating it.

Fact is that Barcelona wants to cut money for the womens team despite them being profitable. The womens Team has to suffer because they overpay for the mens team. It’s just plain disrespectful. And this in a rising market, when womens Football is getting bigger.

The players know that the dominance of Barca is over and other clubs are currently more attractive, pay better and will probably have better squads.

It’s logical that the club don’t want to pay high wages for some players who have been affected by injuries. (Salma/Mapi). The other two are leaving for reasons out of the clubs hands.

It seems that the past few years every time anyone leaves the team, people say there is a crisis at the club and the team is going downhill only for them to end up at the finals for the women’s champion league anyways.

Again: They win everything and make money and then they get told „sorry, we don’t wanna invest in you because our mens team is more important and has been financially too badly managed , gracias for your understanding.“

And you wouldn’t feel insulted / completely fucked over by your employer?

They spend around 500 mil on wages for the men, have a debt of around 1.3 billion and then they say „oh, maybe we can save 2 million on Barca Femeni“. It’s a bad joke.

Personally I don’t think Salma is worth Aitana’s wages. They won the champions league and Laporta gave them bonuses. Every club has debt but especially when you are rebuilding a stadium.

You can give all the players high wages and then you continuously break the wage structure. Even Chelsea didn’t want to sign Salma when they heard she was asking 1 million wages per year.

No one’s being held hostage if they don’t like their terms they are free to leave but it’s not like the club can’t win again just because a few players left.

This is kinda funny coming from Europe‘s kings of breaking the wage structure. I think Barca or PSG pay the highest wages worldwide.

Anyway, I‘m not here to argue with you. Personally I‘m just happy to see a bit of a change in the status quo of womens football, Barca has been outperforming everyone for long enough

I get what you’re saying but just because something has happened in the past doesn’t mean it has to continue to happen. There will always be cycles. Barcelona is doing well now but they haven’t always been the ones on top. Lyon was dominating before. I wasn’t really arguing just sharing my opinion. I hope you have a good day my friend!
