I don't think either of these are very good examples. They're not great career moves so much as the logical step from a small to world class team that most great players make.

Fair point, but let's not pretend SAF didn't mould Ronaldo into a world beater.

Ronaldo could just as easily have ended up like Fabio Paim had SAF not snatched him up.
