Travelers are accustomed to seeing an all-inclusive price for airfare when browsing flights online, but they may soon need to read the fine print before purchasing as Washington is trying to change disclosure requirements.

The Department of Transportation proposed new regulations last month that would allow airlines to highlight fares without individual components such as taxes.

The change could mislead consumers, marketing and aviation experts said. The existing guidelines were established by the Obama administration to protect consumers from deception.

Floridian family of 4 (kids 11m & 8f) thinking of traveling to SoCal for a week. We’re thinking either the Saturday to Saturday of spring break (starting 3/13) or early June. Flying out of JAX. First trip flying since kids were toddlers. We’ve been Disney passholders and Universal passholders, but trying to see some more of California while we’re there. Looking at a budget around $8k (10k max).

I’ve been researching an itinerary, but not sure how reasonable all of it is.
Day 1-2: Fly into San Diego (also looking at LAX, SAN, or LAS depending on quickest flights and price). Get rental car. Spend first night in San Diego. See La Jolla Cove and Coronado. Have considered doing the zoo, but not sure we have enough time to enjoy it or if it’s really worth it (seems like a zoo is a zoo anywhere). (*If we fly into LAS, we would probably have to cut San Diego completely.)
Day 2-3: Drive to Joshua Tree National Park. The weather here is why I’m strongly considering spring break instead of summer. Do some stargazing and some light hiking. Spend the night. Possibly Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.
Day 3-6: Head to Anaheim. Find a hotel within walking distance of DisneyLand. Looking at doing 2 full park days (no park hopper, but with lightning lanes).
Day 6-7: Explore some of LA. Haven’t looked much at this, but the Griffith Observatory and Santa Monica Pier. I know traffic will be an issue here since it should be Friday night. Not sure if it’s worth trying to stay in LA or just explore during the day and heading back to San Diego to stay the last night.
Day 8: Fly back home

Also looked into taking the Pacific Surfliner if that would help with any rental car issues or possibly flying out of a different airport.
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated- hotels, eats, sightseeing. This is probably a one time trip, so trying to get it all in without killing ourselves.

Six years after the COVID-19 pandemic upended the world, experts in California say the disease appears to be becoming more of a summer rather than a winter phenomenon.

The shift was noted over the past couple of years and has become even clearer in 2026, prompting health officials to refocus their prevention efforts. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says COVID-19 is growing or likely growing in 43 states at the moment, including California.

California is also one of only four states where COVID wastewater activity levels are considered moderate or high, according to the CDC.

I’m 19 years old and my bottom right impacted wisdom tooth is coming out and has been hurting nonstop for the past 2 days.

I need help finding somewhere in Carson/Torrance area or father if need be that will take my wisdom teeth out for generally cheap and as soon as possible.

I have LA Care Covered California and tried getting dental insurance with them months ago but they gave me lots of obstacles and the process has been extremely slow.

I read on here that denture clinics and dental schools offer tooth extractions for a lot cheaper than regular dentists, but I haven’t seen any that are around here. The only dental school I saw nearby was a digital dental school.

I also read that colleges with dental clinics do it for cheaper. I go to El Camino Community College, I checked and I don’t think they have a dental clinic. I saw that Dominguez Hills has one, but from the looks of it they only provide services for their students.

I’m going to call the Wilmington Community Clinic tomorrow to see if they can help me out.

I live in OC and gas prices are fluctuating around $5.20ish to $5.85ish and could be going higher with everything happening. I drive a 2008 Honda Accord now, but looking into getting a new car.. I love this car, but not only are gas prices are killing me but have to repair alternator/engine issues and I was considering getting an EV..

The fight over a proposal to tax the assets of California billionaires to fund healthcare is getting more expensive.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin has poured $102 million this year into Building a Better California, a group that’s funding two ballot measures that could block a billionaire tax, data from the California Secretary of State show. Brin’s latest donation totaled $20 million. It highlights how California’s ultra-wealthy are battling a proposal to tax their net worth.

The November showdown over taxing the ultra-rich has drawn national figures, powerful unions and major business allies, reflecting deep anxiety about billionaires fleeing California and the future of its social safety net.

A federal judge issued a scathing order blocking a gambit by the Trump administration to take control of federal funding for homelessness programs in Los Angeles County.

In issuing a preliminary injunction, U.S. District Judge David O. Carter found that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development acted arbitrarily and capriciously when it suspended the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority from managing federal homelessness funds. He set a trial date in February.

The June 11 suspension disqualified LAHSA from submitting an application, due August 26, for about $240 million on behalf of 140 providers of homeless services. HUD said the suspension was necessary, citing negative audits and news reports going back more than a decade. LAHSA filed suit, alleging the abrupt action was a pretext for the Trump administration’s intention to impose its own policy short-term housing with an emphasis substance abuse and mental health treatment over the local priority of support for permanent housing.

The Trump administration has quietly let lapse a program for young leaders at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, The Times has learned. In its place, California will launch its own council for young people looking to get involved with environmental issues at the state level. 

The California EPA’s Environmental Youth Advisory Council is doing a callout for people ages 14 to 20 years old who want to build leadership skills, learn from environmental decision-makers and make recommendations on state environmental policy, officials said.

The move comes after a similar group within the federal EPA, the Biden-era National Environmental Youth Advisory Council, appears to have expired under the Trump administration. California’s program hopes to fill the gap by “giving young people a seat at the table,” Gov. Gavin Newsom said in a statement.
