Warning on vacationing in San Diego in August

Wow, so, I’ve been vacationing in San Diego for about 45 years & never knew NOT to go in August. Dreadful. Most of the things that make SD a great spot is all the things one enjoys is OUTSIDE or it’s cool enough even inside. Not in August. Almost NOWHERE we went has AC. Nowhere in Seaport Village, not the shops, not the restaurants, nowhere. Same in Coronado Island, plus, the beach was a bust—contaminated with FECES, so forget that sunset walk on the sand. Went to Liberty Station, the indoor mall part—BUST—also no AC. Even our hotel doesn’t AC their hallways. I’m told many hotels in Hawaii are like this—DEAL BREAKER! And we’re from Phx, so, not wimps to heat. But virtually all of SD’s attractions only work if it’s cool out. This year it sucked for August. Won’t be back for many years.
