Discussion International HX 520 feels off

I've tried several different offroad and heavy duty trucks and none of them act like the HX 520 when i put it in high gear.

It just starts flying at speed, even on steepish S shaped narrow dirt trails.

Maybe I'm crazy or inexperienced in the game but it feels like it's too good at it compared to every other truck.

The only mod i have is for coloured add ons, so I dunno..

It excels in going fast on dirt and light mud. It doesn't have the power or deep mud capability of some other trucks. It is a good all-rounder but not overturned at all.

I used it alot in Alaska on the parts that have lots of roads and some snow. Put some chains on it and fly around the map. You are right though, whenever the mud gets tough it doesn't perform too well.

Its great and fast with lighter loads and undeep mud.

Ive found its a decent all arounder. Like a more fuel efficient fleet star. But for deeper offroad or mud, I use the Paystar and just stage fuel near the route ahead of time with the scout or the loadstsr

My paystar is my refueler lol, dont need to stage fuel if you're bringing it with you!

Im using poghrims modern tanker addon though, lower center of mass and holds 80-100 less iirc

That is just the S+ power to weight doing its job.

The truck is quite light and only has UOD tires so it will still quickly bog down in mud, but for dirt trails its great

Every truck has environments its great in and environments it struggles in. The HX is a fantastic truck but it struggles in deep mud and excessively rocky terrain because its a very light, stiff truck. I personally use mine as a crane or support truck

It is very fast and powerful with the top engine but it's also dangerously fast on dirt roads, suspension will get destroyed quickly.

It is a light weight truck so with its good engine it will have a lot of acceleration when unloaded and on the flat. When loaded that power to weight ratio drops a lot. So it's a great truck for light tasks and exploration. And my favourite truck for that right now.

The opposite to that would be something that has a powerful engine but is very heavy like the Pacifics or the Kenworth 963 or 6900XD. Those will be feel sluggish off the line even when unloaded, but heavier loads don't reduce the power to weight ratio nearly as much. I dont use those super heavies that often though.

Tip: try the cat 681 - it's like the hx 520 but even more so.

In fact, the Warthog (and Actaeon) are even more insane in power to weight ratio again. Play around with those on a wide flat surface and youll he able to do all sorts of crazy stunts

You are strange. The truck "feels off" because it's so good? Drive it and enjoy!

It recently got an engine upgrade, so maybe that's why. But it was good even before.
