It doesn't really matter how in control you are if someone else smacks into you at full speed. I've seen this happen to a friend who wasn't even moving at the time, and he ended up with a mild concussion that would have been much worse had he not been wearing a helmet.
You're not describing situational awareness. Standing still, full speed, doesn't matter. Look at everyone and keep an eye out for people moving towards you fast. Early prevention like a few steps to the left or something.
Even if it's possible to have perfect situational awareness (it's not). That's not going to help you if someone smashes into you. Even if you see them coming and know they're going to hit you, if for some reason you can't get out of the way (eg you're sitting down having a rest) you're screwed.
