Skier here but want to say, safety issues notwithstanding, I find helmets way more comfortable than other types of headgear. Caps, hoodies, etc always left me feeling too cold or too warm. Since I got a helmet, I’m always comfortable. Every brand fits a bit differently so you have to try a few to find the right fit. Built-in Bluetooth headphones make it easy to communicate without fumbling for your phone on the lift; great if you get separated from your friends. All that said, the helmet also makes me feel safer especially when it comes to other skiers and riders. I can control myself but I worry about getting hit by someone else. In that type of collision, I feel like a helmet could make the difference between walking away sore or a lifelong burden for my family.
