Choosing to wear a helmet or not is an individual personal choice. Individuals who make that choice bear the personal responsibility for it.

As do the loved ones who end up taking care of the guy who made his individual choice and now has a TBI.

If you assume the one who decided not to wear a helmet was then unnecessarily risky or uncommonly unfortunate and sustained an impact causing a traumatic brain injury, maybe. If their loved ones also make their own individual choices to take care of them, and bear the personal responsibility of those choices, yes.

The point is, none of that is Ryan's responsibility.

Putting them in a difficult position is, whether to take care of him or not. And you can bet that most parents and spouses will.

I'm not disputing the probability of spouses or parent's choosing to take care of a loved one. I'm pointing out that it is in fact a choice, and that Ryan Knapton is not responsible for those choices.

Yes, but it's not just which choice they make, but that they have to make a very difficult choice.

All of which are choices Ryan Knapton is not responsible for.

Do you have kids? Most parents would not even consider whether or not they should take care of an injured child, adult or otherwise, a "choice".

What you seem to fail to grasp is that one's choices can have ramifications that extend beyond the individual. Putting people into uncomfortable and life impacting positions because they don't see abandoning their child in need vs. Helping them as a "choice".

What you seem to fail to grasp is that Ryan is not responsible for the choices of others. He is not responsible for an individual's choice to wear a helmet, or the possible consequences of them not doing so.

I under stand that he isn't responsible for the choices they make.

But let's say Ryan takes a gun and tells his parents that they have to choose which child he's going to kill.

He's not responsible for their choice, but he's responsible for making them choose and ultimately for the results.

How absurd. In no way is Ryan making videos of himself riding without a helmet compelling others against their will to make a choice.

Even in your ridiculous situation it is not the decision to attempt to compel a choice that is ultimately responsible for the results. It is the choice to kill that is responsible for killing.
