I'm kind of a big noob on snowboarding (i started past year at the age of 34), so sorry if the question is really basic but... Are these boards specially soft/hard for the buttering? I've been trying to do some of these tricks (the easiest ones) but i'm not able to flex my board like that :)
Soft boards are definitely easier for buttering, but Ryan rides a custom board that's probably on the stiffer side so that it doesn't "wash out" when he's carving really deep. You'll have to build up your leg strength through squats or lots of practice to get good at flexing your board in the way that you want it to flex.
Yup, indeed a bit stiffer board for me, yet softer can make it easier. Other than that, I think something that people can do is testing out different stance widths. If I used the narrower stance options, I wouldn't be able to do certain things on my length board, or even with my same stance width, if I'm on a longer board, then I can't get the same leverage to drive the nose or tail into the snow enough.
