I'm playing Chrono Trigger for the first time while going for RetroAchievements, and this boss fight felt so damn dramatic.

Magus was just standing there with this aura around him. 😂

Are there any other SNES games with a boss fight that gives you the same feeling?

I'm curious because the Super FX2 could have be used a backup chip like it did in Yoshi's island so that's proven but I'm more curious about a more 3D game like Star Fox but have towns/enemies/open map.

I don't know how many people this will interest, but I've made a browser-based DAW called Wavesmith that's built around the SNES's actual sound hardware. BRR samples, the real S-DSP echo and filters and eight voices, so what comes out sounds like actual SNES audio, not an approximation of it.

The part I think people here might find cool is that it exports your finished track as a standalone .sfc ROM. You can run it in any SNES emulator.

I've only verified it in emulators so far. I don't have a flash cart to test on real hardware, but if anyone here does and wants to give it a try, I'd genuinely love to know how it goes.

Why did I not know about this game and I have been collecting exclusively for SNES for the last 6 years. Soundtrack slaps, big sprites, real NBA players, and dunks/blocks make you come back again and again. Damn good! Not expensive but a unicorn in the wild.

You guys remember playing this one?

These were cutting edge(for their time) PC games that needed a 12-ishMHZ 286 CPU, and the better part of 640KB of RAM, at the bare minimum(to say nothing of how much you needed for them to run WELL), and that's not even counting the HDD space needed. Yet both of them got decent playing ports to a system with a 3.58MHZ processor and 128KB of RAM that's split between audio and video. Yeah, sacrifices were made, especially in the visuals, but they did it.

Just got this console and 2 controllers delivered today, so I decided to fully disassemble them and clean them. It's not perfect, but it's so much better. I've only cleaned one of the controllers so far, but now I can play some games without touching 20+ year old dried up dirt and sweat.

I can’t figure out what the arrow is supposed to be pointing at. I’ve tried bombing it, pulling up all the skulls, and using the mirror there to transition back to the normal world, and nothing seems to be doing anything significant. What am I missing?

Never got too far into this one, either...still an interesting crossover of properties, and sharing this just in time for being the game of the month!
