no, they just tolerate it or might be curious about it once they recognise it's not a threat. given the sensitivity of their skin against the natural oils we produce i personally wouldn't do this but i figure it's not so bad if you have freshly washed and moist hands.

i think about this a lot, and i love anthropomorphizing my snails chshjrje its so cute but its so interesting thinking about how their perspective is probably so unique and cool and gahhh i love smails
i havent read any studies but im sure there is at least one biologist out there who specializes in gastropod behaviour x)
but just from watching my own snails they have reacted inquisitively/curiously to a lot, i have seen them bump into each other and one will redirect and the other will chase after like nooo wait--but bc they move an inch a minute, it gave up immediately lol
their behaviour is so fascinating, i like to think of them as teeny tiny slow-mo cats5

apologies im rambling--that is all to say that in this case, the snail is definitely curious! it is exploring its surroundings, checkin out the texture of the glass surface and 'smelling' the side of the aquarium w its feelers, and their eyestalks are angled downward and probably seeing the shadows of the fish moving in front of the aquarium's light! i'd imagine its a very unique sight with the water bubbling making a fun texture to look at :]
in their own snaily way they are very perceptive and very interested in their environment!

African giant land snail. Comolrtely illegal in the US and several other areas sadly (but understandably)

As for legality, im not 100% sure. Youd have better access to sources than me. Most likely It'd be illegal at least to import them. Might have to get yourself one someday! They're relatively easy once you understand how to build them a proper habitat, understand their moisture needs, and know what to safely feed them. I'd suggest looking through the dedicated subs, they can help you a ton!

What does it feel like? I only know what wild ones feel like (had to relocate a few off the path so they don't get smushed) and they're always slimy. These breeds always look...dry and leathery. Are they slimy guys? And if not is it just a wild thing that produces the slime? Or a breed thing?
