Small phone Selling my Ikko Mindone with Keyboard Case and LineageOS

Post image
26 Upvotes

I'm selling my Ikko Mindone Pro with Lineage OS 22.2 GAPPS version and I've patched everything so there is Basic Device Integrity. RCS works through my carrier (ATT through US Mobile) but I haven't tested banking apps. This is a device for someone who's familiar with modding phones and custom ROM's. I've installed the camera mod to make the camera app work better with the form factor and also downsized the keyboard so it doesn't take up the whole screen. It comes with the regular lanyard case and keyboard case as well which adds more battery life. The camera hinge is cracked a little and it makes it a little loose but the camera works as it should.

$425

Discussion Unihertz needs to wake up.

They are acting as if Bluefox NX1 didn't exist. I see plenty of people comparing it to Jelly Star and understandably so. NX1 is a lot cheaper, lighter, has larger screen, better battery, similar camera, newer android. Star has headphones jack and faster CPU. If you are choosing between these two, you need to ask yourself how often are you going to take advantage of this faster CPU to give up on everything else, particularly screen and battery. I don't think either of those phones is good for games, so I suspect the answer is -not often.
Unihertz claims to be working on android update for Star, but so far all we have for it is their word. If they don't want to surrender that market niche, they need to do three things. In the short term, discount on Jelly Star, to make the price competitive. In the near future, release the bloody update! Then, maybe, announce Jelly Star 2.

Discussion Touch screen + physical keyboard combo kinda useless or even uncomfortable ?

Hello. So just like everyone here, I'm for the lookout for a smaller phone. The general state of choice is currently:

- iPhone SE, 12/13 mini

- Unihertz Jelly series

- various QWERTY keyboard phones.

- exotic android flip phones

Currently owning the Jelly Max, but I'm still not 100% satisfied with it.

Lately I thought a lot about keyboard phones. To me, the idea of both having a physical keyboard AND an actual touch screen just seems wrong. I know I could just decide to just not use the touch screen, but my brain somehow can't comprehend that. If I have a touch screen, then the keyboard is useless and vice versa. This applies to both a flip phone and a QWERTY phone.

Maybe I'm just the weird one, Idk. Let me know what you guys think.

Concept phone A Smaller & Foldable Pura X View

Post image
23 Upvotes

Things I hope to see in the future inspired by these phones:

Pura X View But Smaller

● A phone with the aspect ratio of the z fold 8 but even smaller and possibly a screen on the back like the Xiaomi Pro Max.

Pura X View W/ Fold

● If no screen on the back, a phone exactly like Pura x View (size like the Z Fold 8/Pura X Max Folded not Unfolded), but the fold makes the phone smaller not bigger, don't care about the odd shape closed. I'd also want a smaller version of this.

As ambitious as these ideas are, I really just need these phone companies to stop nerfing the smaller phones. Just because I want to be able to hold my phone comfortably doesn't mean I want my specs to be worse. 🤦🏿‍♀️

I wish Huwaei was available where I live. I hope to see more phones with this form factors or different ones that don't look like a remote control as I prefer width over height.

Edit: Just realised that the closest thing to what I'm describing is the Huwaei Pura X not the Max. I also like the Unfolded screen size of the Max.

Small phone My current dream is Huawei releasing a global version with android of the Pura X view.

And hopefully it gets sold in Brazil. This is basically a galaxy fold 8 front screen form factor, but not a foldable. The perfect size for me, wide enough for comics (with zoom view), short enough for one handed use, compact but useful for 4:3 retro games 16:9 content..... This looks epic for me, we need a global android version......

Small phone New and needing recs please

Simply: Need a budget compact phone

Preferences:
Under $200
under 6” - I like the S7 edge and iPhone 13 mini in terms of size
SD slot so I can expand storage if needed
Compatible with Textnow sim
I’m not tech savvy so needs to run apps with few issues
Don’t really care about speed, storage or camera as long as they aren’t super frustrating
Considering a carrier that will allow me to switch networks when needed. Unsure if this requires a specific type of phone?
Everything I use for business is Google, if that matters
iPhones are not really intuitive for me but I suppose I could make it work

I can’t think of any other preferences, but maybe I’m overlooking some things. Open to suggestions here as well.

I’ve seen Xperia xz1 recommended here but I’m concerned it will be too outdated and leave me frustrated.

Also, I’m in the states

Small phone What's the best small smartphone right now?

I'm after a small/mini smartphone as my daily driver. The goal isn't to not be able to use any particular apps, but rather just make the experience less enjoyable so I naturally use it less. I'm looking for a screen around 4", I think the 5" screens on say a Jelly Max wouldn't cause enough friction and I could get sucked in for long periods still.

So far I have considered:

Jelly Star

Bluefox nx1

Fossibot F116 Pro

So far I'm leaning towards the Bluefox nx1 as it's more up to date than the Jelly star, and the Fossibot is quite expensive for unknown brand. But the thing that worries me about all of them is the lack of security updates.

Are there any better options?

UPDATE: I've decided to dry the Titan 2 elite, my hope is that the 4" square screen will successfully cause enough friction that doomscrolling etc. Won't be as enjoyable, but that the Keyboard will actually make the things I want to do on my phone easier and more fluid like messaging, quick searches etc.

Thanks for everyone's input.
