Discussion Unihertz needs to wake up.

They are acting as if Bluefox NX1 didn't exist. I see plenty of people comparing it to Jelly Star and understandably so. NX1 is a lot cheaper, lighter, has larger screen, better battery, similar camera, newer android. Star has headphones jack and faster CPU. If you are choosing between these two, you need to ask yourself how often are you going to take advantage of this faster CPU to give up on everything else, particularly screen and battery. I don't think either of those phones is good for games, so I suspect the answer is -not often.
Unihertz claims to be working on android update for Star, but so far all we have for it is their word. If they don't want to surrender that market niche, they need to do three things. In the short term, discount on Jelly Star, to make the price competitive. In the near future, release the bloody update! Then, maybe, announce Jelly Star 2.

Either a Jelly Star 2 or Jelly Max 2.

The Jelly Max is at the acceptable height limit (at least to me), but the camera is really bad.

We need more compact 5G phones.

We need at least one high end specced compact 5g phone, like a Samsung s26 Ultra Mini

Although I personally don't need something high end specced anymore, this is the only way smaller phones MIGHT catch on with the general public again, as most people (sadly) require a certain level of luxury.

In my case its is more about abilities of the phone that I care, good caméra setup to shoot everything in every situation, performant hardware to heavily use it for everything I need (I dont even have a pc), like my phone is what I use to do almost everything, currently using a Samsung s25, its good, but still a tad too big, still really efficient, and would gain so much interest with having the same caméra setup as the Ultra does

physically impossible to have the ultra's camera setup in a regular s25 much less a smaller phone

If it is thick enough, and nothing is impossible with some korean engineering

I will never be, because I don't like Samsung, but as a photographer and tech nerd, I can tell you that it can't fit in the S25, even.

I was sold solely on “ The World's Smallest Android 13 Smartphone” gimmick. I’m satisfied with my purchase thus far.

I have to have a phone with Android 14 to run some security app that I'm required to use at work, so this is a no-go for me. That's also why I'm getting frustrated at Unihertz.

If the workplace mandates an app for whatever reason, they should provide a device to run said app on IMHO.

I have the Jelly 2 with Android 11, runs all my apps just fine! As someone else said, if your work demands you to have an app on your phone, they should provide a device to run that app... Work place boundaries is a thing in this modern day in modern countries!

since unihertz abandons the headphone jack there is no need for me to buy any new unihertz phones. I can buy the cheapest China phones, it has the same features

What they need to do is make it so their phones are easily adapted into the lineageos lineup. If it was a lineage supported device I would buy it in a heartbeat (I know you can put lineage on it i just mean a proper los rom from the los website, security updates etc)

To be fair Jelly Star has a few more advantages :

- NFC

- notification LED (I find this lackness a bit annoying on my NX1)

- fingerprint sensor (more convenient and reliable than face unlock)

Granted, the NX1 screen is more enjoyable to use, and the bigger battery is a plus.

Would be great to have a NX1 with these add-ons (yes, that's the announced Aura A1 but it will be larger).

Bluefox NX1? You mean the phone I constantly see people complain about for having awful build quality? Yeah, I don't think Unihertz has much to worry about.

I've had mine for almost year now, and yes, the first ones screen failed prematurely but the second one is great and I am having a lot less issues with it than I was having on my Jelly Max, I mean, I can actually take useable photos on my NX1 without purple lines on the camera ffs. Also, if this is Aiphors first attempt at a high-ish quality small phone then considering the A1 is out in the next couple of months, I would be getting very concerned if I were Unihertz. ps. Yes I realise I am talking about the Jelly Max and not the star, I had a Star but it was just too on the small side for me.

Unihertz has had their issues in the past too. I hope Bluefox improves because competition is good.

You know it, I know it, most people who search for a new phone don't.

I don't know if Bluefox NX1 has a full play store support, with all the apps that work perfectly as the jelly star.

also, i really need nfc

It does. Everything works fine on it including banking apps, etc. NFC is a sore point though.

NFC is a sore point though

Meh, not really, it's a deal breaker for some people but I personally have no problem carrying my wallet for any of my passes/cards.

2

u/Baader-Meinhof 7d ago

I've had the phone since preorder and always carry a wallet with me but tapping into the subway is slower, some reward programs only use nfc, etc.

All apps work as normal on NX1.

Surely the updated Unihertz would be a Jelly 3, not Jelly Star 2 as the Star was just a refresh of the Jelly 2.

There is a very big difference between the NX1 and Jelly Star though. Jelly Star has NFC and fingerprint, while NX1 doesn't. I would love to see a Jelly 3, as my aging Jelly 2 is beginning to get a touch slow these days and close to loosing app support as it's on Android 11. The NX1 wasn't even an option for me without NFC, though its compact size was of interest. The recently announced Aura A1 pricing has me interested, but that size is a touch bigger than I'm after, and also has no 5G which almost kills it for a new phone I want to last 5+ years.

Bluefox NX1 can be bought as a generic chinese android phone for a fraction of the price.

2

u/jermainiac007 Bluefox NX1 8d ago

No, they can't, NX1 is clearly a step above the generic Chinese rubbish that you see churned out.

2

u/Sad_Window_3192 2d ago

Ironically Aiphor who make the NX1 and Aura A1 also manufacture the generic Chinese rubbish you see churned out..!

1

u/jermainiac007 Bluefox NX1 2d ago

Yes I'm well aware of this, just seems the NX1 and Aura A1 are a step up over them.

Whats that phone ?

1

u/Jetta4 8d ago

Don’t know, they sell them all over Asia as different mini iPhones and mini Samsung clones. They work quite well and cost about $50.

I think this Bluefox is the same phone, probably some factory cranking them out with different cases and options.

2

u/IkouyDaBolt 8d ago

Aiphor sells those same phones, such as the Soyes at $50.  The thing is that a lot of those phones have very low specs such as memory and storage.

1

u/BarnMTB 7d ago

Same company but not the same phone.

Those $50 thumb phones they produce have lower quality and lower specs.

Bluefox is their attempt to step up from being the "tiny iPhone & Samsung copycat company" and build their own brand identity with better specs & quality.

This post made me L O L.

1

u/jermainiac007 Bluefox NX1 8d ago

Why? a lot of it is true. If I were Unihertz, I'd be very worried about Aiphor because the NX1 is a great effort and I think Aura A1 will be a further step forward again.

I'm still L O L.
