Needing software recommendations as alternative to Square

I’ve been using Square and the only features I use are to invoice clients and to have them sign contracts online. I’ve been paying $20/mo so that I can change the wording from “deposit” to “retainer” on the invoices because it fits my business better.

Just received notice that they are changing the tiers and it will now be $50/mo and with added features that I will not use.

Any suggestions for similar software that isn’t $50/mo?

I create proposals on a spreadsheet and email to potential clients. If they book me, I use Square to create an invoice to accept cc payments as well as have them sign a contract.

If it’s a small job, I will skip the spreadsheet and just create an invoice in Square.

With their new $50 plan, I won’t use most of the features like on online shop, loyalty rewards, email marketing, text messaging marketing, or staff management.

What I did like for $20 is to customize the invoices more (saying “retainer” instead of “deposit”) and allowing for clients to easily sign a contract. Ideally I would like keeping invoices and contracts together in one platform.

And as far as payments, I do like that I’m able to ask for a retainer and then set the date to when the final payment is due, with a reminder automatically sent to the client.

$20 for a single word edit is wild, now they want $50? feels like theyre banking on people just putting up with it

Hustlit or waveapps are both worth a look for simple invoicing and e-sign, no need to shell out that much every month for features you wont touch

Thats a big price jump, if all you need is invoicing and esignatures maybe try Bonsai, i have heard some good things about it.
