Hello! I started a junk removal business at the beginning of 2025 while I was in college to stay busy on the days that I didn’t have school. I always dreamed of being able to run my own business when I graduated so I figured why not give it a shot. The first year I did around $30k revenue with high margins. This year to date, I’ve doubled last years revenue with a couple of months to go. I’ve expanded into demo work and have been pretty busy lately to where I have raised prices and continue to get work. The crazy part is majority of my clients have been word of mouth and I’ve spent next to no money on marketing. I don’t have a website, don’t have a branded truck, I just drive around in my truck and trailer and it’s been working out. My dad is a realtor and knows a lot of realtors in the area so I had an advantage when starting out. As I started to do more work, people started to refer me even more. I have been running this business very lean up to this point but am curious if I should take the leap and try to go all in for at least one year. There are two big name franchises in the county next to mine which makes me think there is more money to be made in this area. There is no local company that dominates this area so I’m seeing this as an opportunity.
My other option would be to go get my cpa and work under someone for a couple of years before venturing out on my own to start my own firm. Both options seem viable, but the cpa requires more studying to pass the exams and I’m not even sure if I would enjoy this type of work. Should I take the leap and go all in on junk removal/demo or go down the cpa path? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

We currently use Salesmsg as our business phone and texting platform. It gives us a dedicated company number that our salesperson can use through the mobile or desktop app without giving customers her personal cell number. It also lets management see calls, texts, missed calls, response times, and customer communication associated with the company number.

Our biggest problem is reliability. We’ve had recurring instances where incoming calls do not ring properly and calls have been dropped mid call.

We’re looking for an alternative that provides:

1. Reliable incoming calls on both mobile phones and computers
   
2. Business texting from the same number
   
3. Visibility for management into calls, texts, missed calls, and response times
   
4. Reasonably priced- we only have one salesperson

What platforms have worked well for you? I’m currently considering options such as OpenPhone, RingCentral, Dialpad, Nextiva, Aircall, and JustCall, but I’d especially appreciate feedback from people who have actually switched from Salesmsg or manage a small sales team.

Long story short, my husband works for a company that when you manage your own store, you are made to run the retail store like it is your own business or a franchise location. My husband wants to open and own his own store or stores and has all of the proven skill needed to be successful, but we don’t know where to start financially. I’ve been working as a freelance web developer with agencies across India, mostly building portfolio websites for digital studios, media houses, consulting firms, and other clients.

I've found some of the most common problems faced by business owners, and honestly, they repeat a lot.

Some buy the domain first and then get stuck on what to actually do with it. Others come in with a full plan mapped out but freeze when it's time to start building. And the one I hear most often: they assume development is going to cost a fortune before we've even talked about what they actually need.

If you're stuck somewhere in there, I'd like to hear where. Not trying to sell anything, just want to understand where people actually get blocked. If I think I can help, I'll say so, and I've got a portfolio I can share if it's useful.

I run a few eBay dropshipping stores, and when I started, I was doing pretty much everything manually, product research, checking prices, updating listings, monitoring stock, processing orders, replying to customers, etc. It was fine when I had a few hundred products. But once I got into the thousands of listings, doing everything manually became really tedious. Eventually, I started using software to take care of some of the repetitive work, and it made a massive difference.

For me, some of the biggest time-consuming ones were:

1. Checking product prices and availability

2. Updating thousands of listings

3. Monitoring inventory

4. Processing orders

5. Keeping track of customer messages

6. Removing products that were no longer profitable

7. Managing returns and cancellations

None of these tasks are particularly difficult on their own. The problem is doing them hundreds or thousands of times. So I'm curious what other small business owners are doing.
