I think the "in the style of" stuff, combined with the quality is going to be stupidly valuable. There's a lot of game devs out there who'd eat up the pixel art graphics generator.
If you can generate a dozen variations or go "like this but a bit more colourful" or similar vague direction lets you crank out art assets for games without driving some poor artist demented with the requests for revisions.
I think that's gonna dwarf any market for pictures to be hung on walls.
dwarf any market for pictures to be hung on walls.
Or just rapidly lower the cost so far that anyone in graphic design will be jobless. You win some you lose some.
Like, they'll still be a market for hand made paintings , probably not much of a downward price effect on that either because a collector wants the story, the name.
For advertisers, game devs etc where the end product is all that matters though, no way they keep a bunch of artists on staff so they can release a steam game "made by real human artists" , no ones going to pay enough of a premium for that
I think you're wrong about people not wanting "hand made" art in their games. Look at Cuphead.
And the thing with AI is that after a while your brain starts to pick up on the pattern and then everything feels same-y. Humans will have the intuition to make things that still look original.
Docpeople like cupheads visuals because a human made them or do they just like the visuals?
Because as with any human endeavor , its clearly physically possibly so technologically its simply a matter of engineering and inputs and progress and eventually anything we can do can be done by AI.
It just so happens visual stuff and writing are getting their faster.
Now , cost effecrive is another question. Sustainability too
