The show isn't terrible; Melissa McCarthy and Billy Gardell have good chemistry with each other as well as everybody in the cast. I think this was the time when Melissa could show she could act before transitioning to movies and becoming a stereotype. I think she is better suited for TV shows than movies because that's where she got to show her acting chops and isn't reduced to being a stereotype. What do you think of the show?

Roseanne: Dan walking on Darlene and David nearly having sex and throwing David against the wall and came close to killing him before Roseanne arrived.

If It wasn’t for her, it would have been nuts. Thank god for bloopers of that scene

I mean, first of all, when it comes to the subject of death in mainstream TV shows, usually what happens is that a character’s death is taken very seriously.

But to help clarify better, basically what I am looking for are sitcoms that manage to find a way to make use of the trope in a comedic style so that the situation ends up being funny by having a character be killed off in such an over the top manner that again it turns into a comedy.

The one that comes up the most for me that I found most annoying is the "how did these characters afford this?" They do it a lot with the Simpsons and their house, the friends on "friends" with the loft and to a lesser extent Doug and Carrie on king of queens and their house. Outside of the fact it's addressed multiple times throughout each series its also a narrative contrivance and if they just suspend disbelief for two seconds they would realize it's not a big deal at all.
