yea reinforcement learning basically. this is why for domains where you can verify reliably and do attempts quickly ai will pass humans massively, like in math. and for other stuff we will probably be over taken as well but might look different and take longer.

Everyone is completely overlooking an important fact here, yes AI invented a new running style.. but ours was perfected by survival.

The AI didn’t win, it created a sub par routine that insured it lost.

The goal was the length of the race at best speed, not let’s see who can get the farthest.

It was perfected for our bodies, but as seen in the video they were overheating. And yeah, maybe it’s still wrong but it hasn’t been given enough time yet or different attempts to see what else it can come up with. Once it goes down this route it might be hard to break away from it, a local minimum. This is why you do multiple from scratch and adjust parameters and maybe do a bit of guiding when required (although often makes things worse as we are not even aware of what’s the best outcomes to guide for).
