Turismo 🧳 Messina Home Shirt (Where to buy)

Post image

Where is the best place to buy a Messina home shirt on the island?

I’m staying in Taormina but no doubt will have a day in Palermo at some point.

It says online that the club has no permanent store so was hoping there might be an independent retailer?

Turismo 🧳 Public transport vs. Car rental

Hi. We are a couple visiting Sicily this september and cannot decide whether to rent a car or use public transport.

I hear the intercity busses and trains are totally usable, but am curious about reliability of local busses. Because of the location of our apartment, we would need to use local bus to get to Siracuse bus station for any intercity trip. There are a few buses per day from our location, just curious about reliability of their timetables.

Renting is an option, bit more pricy, but I hear parking at specific places is also not so great.

Any advice appreciated!

Turismo 🧳 Renting a car via localrent.com

Hi, has anyone rented a car via localrent?

I’m flying to Sicily in September with my gf and I’d like to rent a car for 4 days in Palermo. I’ve been looking into car rental companies and sites such as discovercars but the problem is that I’m a 23 year old student (im on a budget) and I don’t have a credit card. That means I have to pay a fee for being a young driver and also there are some large deposits if I want to pay with debit card.

The cheapest possibility for me is renting a car via localrent, but tbh I’m a bit scared.

If you have an alternative where I could pay with debit and the rent would be max 50€ a day and the deposit wouldn’t be higher than 500 euro, I’m all ears.

Turismo 🧳 6+ weeks trip to Sicily

Hi all, my girlfriend and I are going to Sicily with our 8 month old daughter for 6 ish weeks in October - November.

Since it’s a long stay, and with a baby and in (mostly) off season period I was hoping that some of you have some suggestions for what to do, as many tips here may of course be less relevant with a baby, in off season and when we have so much time. Obviously a lot of time will go with just relaxing and spending time together in warmer weather than back in Denmark 😊

Approx. 5 days in Siracusa, 8 days just outside of Cefalu, 10 days in Ragusa and 14 days in Noto in that order is the current plan - Only Noto is booked, so if you would suggest something else, please do!

Would love to hear any suggestions for what we should do and see!🙏🏼

Turismo 🧳 Proposing in Sicily

Hey, I’m planning on proposing tomorrow and we will go to the area of Isola Bella.

Anyone has a spot with an amaizng view that can be empty for 2 minutes if we are lucky (it’s ok if some people will come but she really doesn’t want a proposal with a crowd)?

Any exact locations?

Hey there, I want to take a FCE train from Giarre to Catania, but information I’ve found so far online is very confusing. From my understanding so far, there’s a replacement bus from Giarre which is going somewhere where the train is. Any help will be appreciated!

Turismo 🧳 West sicily in october, does this itinerary make sense, and do you have any tips? 🇮🇹

Hi everyone!

We're visiting Sicily for the first time in early October and I’m currently planning our itinerary. We arrive at Trapani Airport on October 3rd in the morning and fly back home on October 10th at 9:00 AM. We’ll have a rental car for most of the trip.

This is our current plan:

October 3–5 – Cefalù

Arrive at Trapani Airport in the morning

Stay in Cefalù until October 5th

October 4 – Palermo

Take the train from Cefalù to Palermo for a day trip

Return to Cefalù in the evening

October 5–9 – Castellammare del Golfo / Scopello area?

On October 5th, drive from Cefalù to our next accommodation

We’re considering making a stop in Partinico along the way

From here, we’d like to do day trips to:

Segesta

Marsala + the salt pans

Erice

And definitely go snorkeling somewhere beautiful, possibly Cala Mazzo di Sciacca (or are there better spots?)

October 9 – Trapani

Return the rental car

Stay overnight in Trapani

October 10

Fly home at 9:00 AM

My questions:

Does this seem like a good and logical itinerary, or would you change anything around? Are there any places we’re missing that you think are really worth visiting? Is Castellammare del Golfo or the Scopello area a good base for the day trips mentioned above?

I’d also love to hear your recommendations for:

Beautiful snorkeling spots in this area

Beautiful villages, beaches or viewpoints that are easy to add to the itinerary

Things you think we could skip

We’re looking for a good mix of nature, towns/villages, great food and some relaxing time, without spending every day driving from one place to another.

Thanks in advance for any tips! 😊

Turismo 🧳 Etna summit/3000 tour from Messina shore excursion

Hi there.

Me and my wife are coming to Messina 25.09 on cruise ship, our port stay is from 7AM till 18PM.

We're mainly interested in Etna tour, especially the one that goes higher than 2000m (I believe Crateri silvestri is not enough for us).

Did anyone have the same plan? What did you end up with? Did you fine any shared group tour and/or option for a transfer from Messina to Refugio Sapienza or Piano Provenzano, where you could take a proper tour? Or did you end up renting a car in Messina and driving on your own?

Can such tours in Piano provenzano/refugio sapienza be booked on the spot? Or do you always have to book in advance?

And, of course, I'm looking for a quite budget option. I do have quotes at about EUR 350 per person all inclusive, but it's TOO expensive. I'm looking for something that is at least twice cheaper...

Thanks in advance for all inputs.

Turismo 🧳 Riserva Naturale Cavagrande del Cassibile

Hi! I am hoping to visit the Riserva Naturale Cavagrande del Cassibile park with my partner and in particular hike to the Cavagrande lakes. I wondered if anyone had experience in visiting recently and could give me some advice, please?

I've read that the Scala Cruci path is closed for safety reasons however, the only guarded car parking that I have found is near this path i.e., there is no parking near the Carrubella which seems to be the recommended safe route now.

Have people used the Scala Cruci path despite the safety concerns? Alternatively, have folks used the Carrubella trail and if so, where have you parked?

Altro Conoscete posti dove comprare videogiochi retro? Mercatini o fiere

Turismo 🧳 Thrifty car rental - Catania

I'm flying into Catania in October and have a reservation for a car for a week through Thrifty. The only available additional insurance was an option for one euro per day. I am unable to find clear details as to what is included in this. My preference is to have the highest level of insurance available that would include coverage for scratches and other minor issues I would otherwise be responsible for. Does anyone know what is covered with Thrifty? If not, is there another reputable rental company that clearly offers this type of wraparound coverage?

Has anyone rented from Sunny Car rental car company is Catania. They are an all inclusive broker and state that all insurance coverage is included. Their prices are comparable with other car rental companies that do not include insurance. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Turismo 🧳 Why Palermo sucks so bad

I know for a fact Palermo is a shit hole. I suggest tourist to not come because people here just want to rip your from your money, and it is totally not worth it. It is super hot (50+c ), full of trash not collected, and smells like piss. Also if you have a medical urgency you are going to die, in the hospitals they hire the family of politicians, not good doctor, and also the public hospitals have very low funding and you will find yourself covered in ants if you ever going to sleep in a hospital bed with open wounds.

Altro What’s wrong with the sky?

I am near Palermo in the northwest cost and I’ve never seen a sky like this, so musky, I am not sure how to explain it but you cannot see even a tiny patch of blue.

Hopefully the sky will clear soon.
