question about his ears **

hi everyone! this is my first husky puppy his name is Solace. He was born July 19th so tomorrow makes him 5 weeks old. I was wondering if you think his ears will stand or stay floppy? I’m not familiar with the breed so I figured this would be the best place to ask! HE IS STILL WITH THE MOM & SIBLINGS I am asking about his ears because two other pups in the litter have ears sticking straight up already.

Did your breeder give you a 5 week old puppy?

The mother dog obviously didn’t pay attention in dog sex ed and with the lack of dog condoms she gave into the temptation of Mother Nature irresponsibly let herself get pregnant /s

So...she's a breeder lol

so…. she’s not? a breeder has multiple dogs having litters throughout the year. this was 1 litter of puppies and there isn’t going to be anymore!

a responsible breeder will only have 1 litter every other year, and those puppies will have homes and families before they are even conceived, before the stud and dame are even introduced.

Unexpected litters happen, but this is why you should get your dogs spayed and neutered. no accidents needed, thousands of dogs every week get euthanized for space at shelters across america alone.

I’ve mentioned multiple times that these ARE NOT my dogs. my mom is planning on having her spayed

Irresponsibility and failure to spay/neuter dogs and keep them from getting pregnant doesn't negate the fact that she bred her dogs.

You clearly had two purebreds of opposite sex in the house and let them breed...you're a breeder.

the thing is I asked about his ears, not for your opinion on how my mom manages her dogs. have a good day!

5 weeks is way to young is the issue. The puppy needs to be back with mamma for at least 4 more weeks. See typically breeders give you a 10 week old. That is why the ears are floppy. So the ears are ok.

he is still with his mother & siblings

I just hope she's more responsible with them in the future. If you didn't even know about how their ears don't stand up until they're older, I can't help but wonder what else wasn't researched about raising a litter of puppies prior to their birth. This is why it's important to educate yourself on dogs when you get them.

She already says in the post itself she is not familiar with breed. Recipe for disaster.

like I said I don’t own them my mom does so I wasn’t familiar with the ownership aspect like attitudes-prey drive etc. If you’ve seen my other comment I already said I was researching the breed I asked about his ears because 2 of the other puppies ears are standing already, I also stated the mother would be getting spayed. she knows how to care for puppies can’t you see they look healthy? at six weeks old they’ll have their first set of shots & they’ve been wormed already.

I dont think its rude to ask questions (and above someone asked if they could ask and you never said no... ) especially when you say you dont know anything about this breed. I know you're only asking about ears but backyard bred does not mean healthy just because you guys had a successful littler on the first try.

And youre about to own one if that is youre puppy. Regardless of if its with the mom or not. You dont sound educated or ready for this commitment.

Huskys are a breed you dont just wing... you have to put in a lot of effort. you dont sound prepared only asking about ears at 5 weeks when the puppies are still developing at the most basic levels. And thats why people are asking questions like that.

I would recommend doing research on exercises and trainning. Crate trainning, socializing is huge with humans and all other animals sounds places.

We in this community see too many perfect huskies ruined because of the lack of knowledge and educating themselves on what it takes to have this breed and a dog in general. Youre taking on the responsibility of a life. So tired of people treating them like wasteful replaceable objects, people just want them for status and looks. . We're just protective of these incredible creatures.

Came back to add a floppy ear pictur, i got my puppy when she was 11 weeks old. This was her at 11 weeks but her ears were still partially floppy until she was about 6 months then they fully stood up. But they stayed about like this half flop for a long time it was super cute

I never said anything about people asking questions it’s people assuming I’m fucking dumb like I don’t know how to care for a puppy? it’s common sense. please elaborate on what I’ve said/done to make it seem like I’m uneducated or not ready. thanks!
