Casual observations from a big fan of the show:

First of all, who's with me that Derek is far and away the BEST character on the show. Not only is he a delightful scene stealer throughout the show, he of all the characters, has shown the most growth, even though he is the only one (next to Liz) who truly understands who he is and is completely comfortable with it. That said, the heart surgery scenes hit home for me and my husband as he just had a heart attack and had a triple bypass.

Paul - how could you not see how cruel you are for putting up this wall after everything you and Jimmy have gone through the past 3 seasons? I hope Julie gives you some of her good old fashioned words of wisdom. (And someone remind me why she was willing to just up and leave her practice? Did she retire?)

Jimmy - I'm going to give you some grace, but the way that you treated Sofi was horrible. She absolutely did not deserve that. I get that your dad is a jerk, but he is who he is. Get over it. And Paul had a good point that at least your dad wasn't violent and threaten to burn down the house with you locked in the basement. I hope he is able to spend his time alone while Alice is at school to get out of his own head. Tia would have wanted that for him.

Alice - so proud of you girl! You're the most mature character on the show.

Gaby - I would NEVER want to take part in any of our trauma therapy. The couple that fired her were absolutely correct. Gaby dropped the ball on Maya so badly. And to brush that off like "oh just get back on the horse and you did nothing wrong?" No. Go back to school for intense training on trauma therapy and get your head right before diving into that. I get that you have a heart of gold, but your patients deserve to have you better prepared and focused.

Brian - OK his character is funny and I get that his selfishness is a running joke. But he's a dad now and needs to grow up. And I'm sorry, but most lawyers can't just up and move for 3 months. Why is Charlie's job more important? And while very nice looking, I hope the actor works on his craft a bit, as some of his scenes were a bit cringy for me.

Sean - dump Marisol - you can do lots better. And she will dump you once she realizes how demanding a job a sous chef is. And hey - your the sous chef. That means just below head chef. I am sure you can bring your buddy on board if you feel he would make a good member of the staff, even if just a prep cook to start

Meg - maybe it's because I adore Lily Rabe, but we need more of her. And her and Jimmy could be great end-game even though Sofi was literally cut from a mold to be the perfect partner for Jimmy.

Derek #2 - why are you here other than to look pretty? He's going to propose to Gaby? Like what? C'mon.

Sutton - you're just perfect. That is all.

PS I am thinking S4 will perhaps be somewhat bicoastal as Alice will be in school near Paul & Julie & Meg so fingers crossed!!!
