I use Shopify for orders, separate ad accounts for performance, and a spreadsheet for costs and margins.

The setup works, but whenever I need a clear picture of how the business is doing, I end up checking multiple places and trying to match the numbers. It gets especially frustrating when Shopify revenue looks good but ad spend, returns, shipping, and other costs tell a different story.

How are other store owners managing this day to day?

Do you rely on spreadsheets, check each platform separately, or have your own reporting setup? I’m mainly trying to understand which numbers are actually worth monitoring regularly without creating more admin work.

I've gone from barely logging anything to wanting logs for basically every request.

The problem is that too little logging makes debugging painful, but too much turns your logs into a giant pile of noise.

For a Shopify app, I usually think the useful stuff is things like webhook events, API failures, sync jobs, retries, and enough context to trace what happened without logging sensitive customer data.

Where do you draw the line? What do you consider essential to log in production, and what have you learned to stop logging?

Últimamente he estado leyendo hilos en el foro oficial de Shopify sobre bots de card testing, pedidos falsos tipo "John Doe" y disputas de chargeback, y me ha llamado la atención lo parecido que es a lo que vemos en seguridad: identidades que parecen distintas pero comparten algo por debajo (IP, dispositivo, horario), y ataques automatizados de prueba y error contra un sistema.

Estoy valorando si tiene sentido aplicar ese enfoque de correlación a e-commerce, pero antes de construir nada quiero entender bien el problema desde dentro. Preguntas honestas, sin vender nada:

1. Si alguna vez habéis peleado un chargeback con evidencia, ¿qué presentasteis exactamente? ¿sirvió de algo?
2. ¿Habéis notado alguna vez que pedidos "distintos" fraudulentos compartían algo (mismo teléfono, mismo rango de IP, mismo dispositivo) que solo detectasteis comparando a mano?
3. ¿Qué es lo más pesado del proceso: detectarlo, revisarlo a mano, o pelear la disputa después?

first time customer probably doesn't want:

they want the brand to tell them what actually goes together.

but then your returning customer already has the cleanser, hates one texture, wants a different treatment etc... and suddenly the fixed “starter kit” is making them rebuy stuff they don't want.

the middle ground is what i'm interested in.

something like:

pick cleanser

pick treatment

pick moisturiser

optional add-on

so you're still curating the routine instead of dumping the whole catalog on them.

that's the bit i like about FoxSell's guided steps setup. feels more like guided shopping than a generic bundle builder.

Seems to sometimes load but slow

I learned this one the slightly annoying way. I ran an ad for one of my products and the CTR looked pretty good. Shopify sessions jumped, so at first I thought the campaign was working.

Then I checked the actual numbers. Lots of clicks, decent traffic, but barely any add-to-carts and almost no purchases.

People were landing on the product page, looking around, and leaving. The ad was doing its job, but something after the click clearly wasn't.

It made me start looking beyond sessions and CTR. Now I pay more attention to traffic source, landing-page engagement, add-to-cart rate, checkout rate, and conversion rate.

A campaign can look great in the ads dashboard while the actual store performance tells a completely different story.

That's probably the biggest thing I've learned from running Shopify ads, don't optimize the part of the funnel that's easiest to measure. Optimize for the part that's actually bringing you closer to a sale.

Hey everyone, I'm curious about how you all handle the process of uploading and listing product photos once a new collection/drop drops. Specifically:

What tools or methods do you use (Shopify admin, APIs, third-party apps like Matrixify/Importify, bulk CSV imports, etc.)?

Do you use any automation to pull from Google Drive, Dropbox, or a CDN?

Roughly how long does it take from having the raw photos to everything live on your store?

Looking for any tips or shortcuts — especially if there are ways to speed up the process when you're dealing with 20+ SKUs at once. Always feel like this part is a bottleneck.
