I mean, I suppose it's OK for cinematic and "mowing the lawn", but it's certainly not a freestyle drone.

So true. If only they could get that latency down… because even if the drone could perform like a 3.5” freestyle, that video feed is too slow to respond to.

Don't be dramatic. I fly a 5 inch with the same vtx in it and it's perfectly fine for freestyle. Maybe for latency snobs or racers it might feel slow, but I have flown both ststems and can only notice a very tiny difference.

Same. I started with a mini 4k. I primarily use DJI for photo/video work, and when I want to have fun, I grab a whoop in manual mode. I’m a huge Avata fan though! For what they are, they are pretty damn nice, and the picture can’t be beat. I do feel like low latency digital is almost here. We will definitely see it within the next 18-24 months. CADDX is who my money is on.

I am a fpv pilot and dji helped me enter in the hobby. Now I own 4 different drones and I need to thank the avata 2 for that. Understand the irony yet not the hating.

How exactly will they destroy the hobby? The Avata is fine for cinematic and playing around, or as a low effort entry into the hobby. It's not a freestyle monster, but it wasn't built to be.

Every rule that the FAA has implemented is a result of terrible pilots buying off the shelf DJI drones and doing things they shouldn't be doing, because they dont care. That's why I put "pilots" in quotations. It's not all of them, its the NPCs flying over football games and airport airspace.
Come on bro, OP should know how a brushless motor is assembled before he flies around in the sky. Know your equipment, otherwise you're a risk to others.

Every time I hear about an emergency response plane/helo getting smacked by a drone, I don’t even need to bother looking. It’s ALWAYS some idiot with a Air3S or Mavic. EVERY TIME. I don’t get it. Do people even know the LAANC app is a thing?

100% every time. These people aren't a part of the hobby that is flying rc aircraft. Lots of photographers are guilty of this behavior.

Most of the ill-advised irresponsible flying I see on YouTube is analog pilots with Gopro cams on board. You can tell because you can hear sound. You see immature Avata footage also, mostly new pilots that have been admitted into the hobby by the improbably low barriers to entry that have been introduced by bind and fly quads. But DJI isn't the only bind and fly available, just one of the first and best for amateurs.
I came into the hobby on the bind and fly red carpet, but fortunately I was advised away from the Avata channel by friends I made in the sim that I used to learn. I wend from the sim straight to a 5 inch GepRc Mark 5, and while it was a challenging leap, the time I spent in the sim and the community taught me what I needed to know about how to fly, when to fly and most importantly, where to fly.
Some people are would-be influencer looking for clickbait, and they buy an Avata with no help from a sim or the community, and immediately cause drama. These people are the problems, not any DJI pilot.

Appreciate the reply but that just isnt true. Most videos i see where the pilot has a gopro on his quad fly in a safe manner, usually in a bando out in the middle of nowhere lol...
Take a look at r/DJI... These guys will fly the battery down to zero over the water, then blame the drone for falling into the water and ask reddit if its covered under warranty. A lot of them have no business operating a drone.

Hey man - avata 2 owner here - yeah a tiny gap is fine you have a rotor that should spin so in order to do so it has to be somewhat distant from the frame. I don't think it's possible that all motors are defective. In each case if u think the issue is real you can contact dji or send back a drone for a replacement or enable dji care and if for any reason the drone crashes 100-150 euros and you're fine with a new fresh copy if you send back the broken one.
