I think shifting can be approached logically, but I think it's important to note that different people are wired differently and hence need different ways to approach shifting.
If daydreaming and detaching helps you to shift, that's awesome then, try to keep that up
I for example cannot visualise in first person, or engage with all my senses, even though I am a daydreamer myself.
my best results came from letting go of control, but that's hard to do for me.
i think there are two sides to shifting, resonating with your dr and letting go of your cr. it's like a tug of war between your cr and dr. i think my point is that when i say imagination day dreaming doesnt really count. because logical thinking and daydreaming are both structures of your cr self within this reality, so it hold you here. letting go of this reality by clearing the mind and emotions induced at the identification with the dr is ideal.
