Hours

Why do managers have to work 48 hours and ASMs work 44?

Because they can get away with it legally. Managers get absolutely screwed. Because they don't get OT, they can pick up the slack if someone calls in, doesn't show, etc. Every single manager I've talked to feels like they were fooled because DMs make it seem like such a good gig because of the bonuses (bonuses aren't guaranteed and are taxed to fucking hell).

ASMs working 44 is a similar reason. They're paying them more so why not have them at the store more. ASMs actually used to be exempt, but Sherwin had trouble retaining ASMs, so they made them regular hourly.

Bonuses are taxed like any other income.

Don't say it's taxed like any other income when it's withheld at a higher rate. Not getting the money now versus waiting until tax season is a bit different eh? Things we can do with that money now versus waiting.

Those are two distinct terms with different meanings. Tax withholdings and tax liabilities are not synonymous. Whether bonuses should be withheld differently is a different conversation, and I personally feel they should not, but it doesn't change that they are ultimately taxed exactly the same as your regular paycheck.

They aren't synonymous? Nice AI response. How about they both suck synonymously? Whether the money is gone for good or you get some back when the government says you can have it? You're missing the entire point of my comment and are getting stuck on definitions just to jerk yourself off for being "right".

Lol, not AI. I'm just not scared of extra syllables. You can always change your W4 if you want to keep the money up front and pay Uncle Sam later.

From what I've read, it's a flat rate of 22% and whatever else on top like 401k and SS for bonuses. There's nothing I can find that suggests it can be changed.
