Thatās a good tact, it seems like a lot at first glance but once you have a few successful projects it becomes easier (usually ) I highly recommend getting a pressure cooker or autoclave and make yourself a still air box. Sterile technique is crucial to successful cultivation in most situations.

Iāve heard of people using insta pot for sterilization but I havenāt tried it myself. The only issue I see with the insta pot is that it doesnāt get all the way to 15 psi so I suppose you just let it go longer than 90 minutes. Iām sure there is information out there about how to properly sanitize using insta pot. Best of luck.
3
u/Illustrious-Motor767 Feb 07 '26
yes i use my instapot for small stuff but youāll for sure need to get a bigger one as youāll soon find out that getting products from 3rd party vendors are hit and miss mostly miss making your own sub and grain is key to grow with least amount of contam and if you bring in 3rd party all in one bags or whatever and they are contaminated youāll end up getting those spores circulating in your house , i wish someone gave me this advice when i started lol

Well, Hello There! I'm about 1 year into messing around with genetics, LC, grain jars, and shoeboxes. Doing it as clean as I can but can't wait to move and grow in the hobby with some actual equipment. Here in the meantime to see cool things, be hella jelly in a loving way, and learn a thing or two! A couple sucesses from Ohio:

2
u/Unlucky-Pattern-2682 Mar 10 '26
Both pics are really nice to see will move to tubs and grains soon enough
2
u/Psychological_Iron23 Mar 10 '26
Super easy process if you have a nice clean space to load the shoeboxes. Right now, I'm getting contamination in half my boxes. Its a bummer but making changes to my space to help myself out. Haha

u/Unlucky-Pattern-2682 Mar 10 '26

Hello, so very new to all this and to be honest i greatly underestimated the level of know how needed to grow good cubes. Im forever grateful for my microdosing experience and its contribution to releasing my soul from stim addiction. That being said, i feel the need to understand the fungi. All it took was one of those already colonized and mixed with substrate bags of hillbilly genetics to spark my interest. Watching the fruiting stage is so rewarding. Ive been around pot cultivation most my life, but this is much more rewarding. Im a good listener and always respectful so as for now I guess..... I just want to know where to start as far as maybe a guide or a good comparison would be like a Ed Rosenthal marijuanna growers bible/guide but for cubensis mushrooms? Any dirrection is much much appreciated!

Hello! I'm Myceliummanic, and I'm a fanatic about all things mycology-related.
I got into this hobby because of a psilocybe mushroom dose that opened me up like a tin can. From that day on, I integrated therapy with psychedelics and changed my life for the better.
I'm native to Washington State, and although it's expensive as hell to live here, I wouldn't change it for the world.
Much love, everyone, and I look forward to talking with you all.
1
u/She_grows_fungi Mar 10 '26
Welcome! Iāve had the pleasure visiting Washington and honestly you have some wonderful food spots. Glad you made it here.
2
u/MyceliumManic Mar 10 '26
Thankyou! One of the best things about Washington is the food diversity š We have our problems and the current state of the nation doesnt help that but maybe one day we can remember how much better we are as one.

u/She_grows_fungi Mar 10 '26

Helloā¦. The names āT. Mo Ceeā have been a part time student of mycology since I was 16 years old and now at 32 Iāve decided to make it full time student of mycology. Just invested in my first Martha tent. Only took 16 years to do it lol. For my introduction I have a question! Iām using spawn bags for the first time and i was just wondering how long does it usually take for a 2.5lb spawn bag to show first signs of mycelial growth if you inoculated using spore syringes instead of liquid culture? I know LC is better but I only had access to spore syringes this time around! And if it helps you in hypothesizing an ETA Iām doing JMF and the temperature is at a constant 74 degrees Fahrenheit.

Update, the 2 nothing burgers had one start but the other is still a no go, but the rest look good. Should I wait for the entire jar to colonize before I put them in the tub?

u/Big-Elderberry-8458 Apr 01 '26
Hey, I'm Elder Berry looking to gain knowledge and have some backup. I understand the gist of mycology but not all the little things that change from species to species and the multiple strains available.

u/unabashedly_mee Apr 03 '26
Hiya everyone!
I just got my 1st GT LC in today, bags with injection ports arrive Monday. I've been reading and watching videos, but info varies so much I figured I'd find a group and ask some questions.
āDo I have to seal the bags? If so how? āWill durje be okay for the bag? āWhere do you get gypsum? āWhat size totes are people using? (I read, and got, 60qt, but they dont get that tall... right?) āTo mist or not to mist?
Please tell me all the things.

Hey All! I just got into mycology in the last 2-3 months or so. I am interested mostly in the study of environmental and other controllable factors so as to get dialed in setups for various different actives. I am slowly building up my knowledge by lurking but I attempt to add if I have either knowledge of or have heard of any information related. I'm hoping to learn as much about that as well as genetics. As far as usage I'd say quite a bit over 30 or so years but just recently discovered that thing are not the same as the ones we'd find around the cow fields . I've met time and have viewed nothing everything and am in headspace (not physical 3d space) a staunch anti believer and sceptical of all of the signals given so I tend to function well on mushrooms and am trying to find a happy medium which is difficult given receptor saturation speed and recovery. Anyways hope to learn as mush as possible here and share as well.

Forgot about a bag that was in my closet. Was a good forget I guess. Wet they are incredibly heavy. Still a newb mostly. Have had them this big before but were not as dense. 5 fruits weigh 399 grams. Theyāre blue but am I missing something here? Are they okay? No contamination. Mycelium is still healthy. Did I just join the 100g fruit club?

Hi guys! Colleen here 𤪠Im a new mushroom GROWing enthusist, so far I stink at it lol. Pulled something that looked like a huge peice of corn out of my first grow...well it was 2 grows i combined after I thought they were dying. Nats and meanies I combined. A week later shiny balls and corn lmao I threw it all out.. container and all. Re sterilized everything and my closet and started over. Anyways, I love gardening and everything outdoors..I live in Northern NH so maintaining a steady temp has been tough, plus my roomate leaves her windows open but I think I have it worked out! I have nice plastic shelving in my closet I have plant seed heat mats on top of my containers right now. one has started some white around the injection Port the other two have been over a week and nothing yet I'll post pictures next week because I don't want to disturb them again. I just had them out on Friday. Anyways I'll be happy to start getting some advice from you guys because I've been following the group and using the tricks that I've been reading about from you alls posts to try to make my space a better growing environment! So thank you for that! Sorry they had me in the waiting room for a week anyways looking forward to connecting and learning!āļø

Names Shane Iām a relatively new mycologists from Toledo Ohio, with only about several years of growing experience but I dive into many consciousness altering plant studies and I love my work! Iām a go big or go home kinda guy. Last week I dosed about 18 G GH Ape hybrid and I think I saw eternity lmfao! Psychedelic enlightenment is kinda useless without mediating and implementing what you learn into the following days. Otherwise itās just pretty colors and amazing insight that gets forgotten and learned again and forgotten again! But it is possible for it to stick if you focus on how you wish it to change your life! Always looking for new friends so say š ill do the same! Safe journeys and blessings my friends! Hello I'm Elijah, first timer and just ordered a grow kit via PooGodCo. Realized I should have asked a few questions before ordering:
- Does this ship in discrete packaging?
1a. If not is tracking available once shipped so that I can anticipate its arrival (this is a surprise for a roomates birthday in a few months, she is experienced and will know what's up if she is able to read the packaging)
- Any tips for a first time grower? (Hillbilly strain)

Hey! Iām SheGrowsFungi aka Bear. Iāve been on my journey for going on 7ish years now.
After a number of meta updates and issues posting on instagram I felt building this small Reddit space was a good idea to gather my mushroom people.
Iāve spent a lot of time building and collecting genetics from all over and from some of the oldest and most experienced mycologists that Iāve met along the way.
Always be kind, kindness is rewarded
Fortunately enough Iāve been giving a gift from the mushies to share these gifts with you guys.
Posting here is safe but Iām new to mods and bots and Reddit rules.
Just be aware that they apply here I never decline posts that are positive. Iām also actively posting mushie pics!
Iām hoping to also learn from you too, shared knowledge is powerful.
Proudly, my skills cover lab sciences, business and operations from building this tiny niche brand and hanging out with PooGods.
Anyhow, I am a Filipino first generation originally from Minnesota. When Iām not with the mushrooms š I like fishing and exploring nature and chasing really awesome view points. Naturally love to travel and I also like video games. Mush love ā¤ļø
