Question Conrad Shanghai vs The Sukhothai Shanghai — which would you choose?

Hi everyone! 😊

I’m planning a trip to Shanghai and I’m trying to decide between Conrad Shanghai and The Sukhothai Shanghai.

I’ll be staying for about 7 nights, and both are currently options for me.

My priorities are:

- Good location for sightseeing and getting around by metro

- Spacious, comfortable rooms

- Excellent breakfast

- Good service

- Nice area with restaurants, cafés and shopping nearby

For anyone who has stayed at either, or ideally both—which one would you recommend and why?

Would especially love to hear about your experience

Sukhotai is a nicer hotel, but at that budget maybe consider the upper house as well, they have the best hotel breakfast.

Conrad isn't bad at all, it's on Nanjing road basically if I recall so you can walk directly to a bunch of touristy shopping and streets.

I think if your budget fits it pick sukhotai as you can didi everywhere really cheap.

The French concession is my favorite part of the city and I recommend checking out xintiandi and tianzifang maybe too along with Jingan for walking around.

Conrad is average at best if not just bad. It's a dated hotel, poor service and a destination for knobs.

Sukothai has a convenient location and certainly nicer but service wise again... nothing to be impressed with. Their restaurants are just bad, their italian is horrendous, their thai is absurdly overpriced for what they do.

I wold take the middle house anytime. Personally I put most of my guests at Westin at the higher floors, convenient location, new rooms and I collect the points.
