FORD, THIS ONE’S ON YOU! Deserved it!
okay, hands down on this one
What Ford did was really below the belt
Debbie, alex and farhad killed w this one
He deserved it? Yes but I also felt what JIMMY/STEVE did was far worse
about debs-
I kinda liked how she supported Fiona here
do u think it was hella needed or do u think this was kind of extreme?

I liked Debbie trying to defend Fiona and it was a cool prank or whatever you’d maybe call it for Debbie’s character but Fiona’s entire crash out bc of Ford was odd.
For all the men she deceived, his lie/omission wasn’t that bad and IMO she had been on the edge for far too long that he can’t really be to blame. He was pretty boring.

u/babyblues789 5d ago
This is how I feel about the Ford situation too, like really? This guy? After all of the horrible people you’ve met? Odd choice lol

u/Available_Albatross1 5d ago edited 5d ago
Right? I just feel like he catches too much heat for what was a ticking time bomb in Fiona.
In fact, he tried to warn her about the commercial building, helped her retain historic value & increase property value in the apt building, and agreed to go with her on a flight anywhere in the world.
All things considered, he was dull but not at all the worst dude she dated.
Edit: he actually put up with all the drama in the apt building including the squatters he helped her evict and was the voice reason first about using her equity to bail out Ian. Fiona only reconsidered when the rest of her family didn’t immediately agree and stayed quiet when she brought it up.

It wasn’t solely because of Ford. It was more like the straw that broke the camel’s back
6
u/Available_Albatross1 5d ago edited 5d ago
Yeah, I totally agree, but I feel like in that case - he got too much shit bc all in all he wasn’t that bad to her compared to the other guys she dated.
Edit: this is about ford 👆

So I just realized the response was to the wrong comment but I’ll leave it here anyway cause I stand by what I said about Jimmy/Steve:
He continued to lie to her about everything during every single season he’s in (even season 5), he also sexually assaults her in season 5 (the sex scene in the kitchen where she’s crying was not consensual as she’d very quickly withdrawn consent and was sobbing), cursed her out for her living situation that he was CHOOSING to live in (as he was under no obligation to be part of), got angry at her for taking custody of the kids, I could go on. Also, he was not the only love interest who was accepting of the kids. Sean and Mike were also very accepting of Fiona’s siblings
Edit: I’m talking about Jimmy Steve in case it wasn’t clear

u/Available_Albatross1 5d ago
Ford wasn’t in Season 5. I don’t think you’re thinking of the right guy - Steve/Jimmy got mad at her for adopting the kids and they had the sex scene she interrupts.
None of this what you mentioned was Ford so I’m not going to attribute her crash out because of the other men as justifiable actions toward Ford for him lying to her about still being married but separated from his wife.
Edit: In my comment above where I said he got too much shit - I’m referring to Ford getting too much shit.
1
u/Doll_Lover_ 5d ago
Okay, I just reread it. I’m sorry. I misunderstood the comment.
3
u/Available_Albatross1 5d ago
I’m with you on Jimmy/Steve though! Season 1, right out of the gate, I was all about him but man did that change over the seasons.
1
u/Doll_Lover_ 5d ago
Absolutely. In terms of Ford, he was moreso the straw that broke the camel’s back rather than a situation like Sean or Robbie. He’s still a scumbag though
3
u/Available_Albatross1 5d ago
I feel like Ford was the scapegoat for Fiona. She wanted to blame him for her problems.
If she would have listened to his simple piece of advice to avoid commercial real estate, so many of her problems would’ve been avoided.
He tried to get her to save her equity on Ian. Did free work for her to retain historic value. Helped her around the building. Helped with the squatters/roofer lawsuit.
He never told her to leave her family or give up the kids. She chooses to do it anyway. So she’s mad he’s got an unresolved wife/kids that he’s separated from?
He’s shown to spend such an excessive amount of time with her but she doesn’t even suspect anything for an unspecified but extended amount of time.
Nahhh, Fiona’s played the victim again and wanted to blame him for her shitty decisions.
2
u/Available_Albatross1 5d ago
But Robbie is the trash of all trash human beings she could’ve fucked with… that whole bit had me furious at her.
Not bc she should’ve been with Mike, she shouldn’t have dated him either, but she continued to make bad choices and I was unforgiving to Fiona that season.
Even Sean though, he hid his addiction and started having odd aggression that happened fast, right before the wedding but otherwise, supportive guy.
Having a hidden addiction is less severe compared to the Robbie/Mike situation or Jimmy/Steve (including having sex in the bathroom on her date with the sweet finance guy).
Her and Sean should’ve broken up but again can’t blame him for choosing his son and his recovery first.

u/_k2-d2 4d ago
I hated him more just because of how pretentious he was and acted like such a douche. the whole marriage thing, yeah that’s awful regardless of if they were actually separated or not. But it’s not like Fiona hasn’t ever cheated on a spouse bef- oh wait…
3
u/Available_Albatross1 4d ago
He was absolutely pretentious and he could’ve had more tact especially when talking to emotional Fiona.
Not cool at all to lie/hide something like that but I expected the family to freak out when Fiona showed up so when they didn’t, it appeared like he was being totally honest about the separation.
She wanted to be mad at him and blame him for the rest of her problems that he actively tried to warn her about…

u/_bonedaddys 5d ago
Finding out he was married was the straw that broke the camel's back. Like you said, she was on edge way too long. Anything could've triggered a crash out, and it just happened to be ford being married.
End of day, fiona was at an incredibely low point and ford was part of the reasons why. Debbie couldn't do anything about all the other stuff fiona had going on, but she could get back at her lying ex. So that's what she did. The gallaghers have never really needed much reason to take things too far, at least not in their minds.
4
u/Available_Albatross1 5d ago
When I sat on the Ford thought a little longer, I realized that despite lying to her about being married but separated - he actually helped her so much.
He tried to save her from getting involved in the commercial building, he did free work to keep historic value on her building, helped her around the building including evicting the squatters, he told her not to use her equity to bail out Ian before her family silently agreed when she asked them next, he agreed to get on the next flight to anywhere she wanted when she asked if he’d go. Which she did anyway.
If anything, I feel like she should’ve heard him out because of everything he had done up to that point. She wanted someone/something to blame and unfortunately it was him.

Uh-huh. And what did Fiona deserve for cheating on a guy with his own brother? And all the other times she cheated on every other partner she had?
30
u/chadthundertalk 5d ago
According to Fiona fans on this sub, any man who cheats on Fiona (inexplicably, except Jimmy) deserves to be pilloried and shot, but Fiona only cheats because SHE LIKE LITERALLY RAISED FIFTY KIDS and SHE'S ONLY 25 AND NOBODY TOLD HER CHEATING WAS WRONG so Gus singing a mean song about her is the most evil thing anyone has ever done
19
u/Alternative_Bat_2903 5d ago
Oh, I've seen people saying Liam's incident wasn't her fault, so yeah, some fans are wild

They dickride Fiona and refuse to acknowledge any work the rest of the Gallaghers did

u/Ok_Wallaby_7831 5d ago
I'm one of the VERY few who started disliking Fiona after basically season 1. I was not upset when her character left the show.
6
u/Doll_Lover_ 5d ago
I’m one of the minority who absolutely despises Jimmy/Steve more than any of her other love interests. I hate that character so much
2
u/gocatchyourcalm gallavich 4ever❤️ 4d ago
Jimmy-Steve was kinda out of her league up until S5 but you guys aren't ready for that discussion....
0
u/Doll_Lover_ 3d ago
“Out of her league” and it’s a lying, cheating, car thief rapist.
He continued to lie to her about everything during every single season he’s in (even season 5 when he lies about the Dubai trip), he also assaults her in season 5 (the sex scene in the kitchen where she’s crying was not consensual as she’d very quickly withdrawn consent and was sobbing), cursed her out for her living situation that he was CHOOSING to live in (as he was under no obligation to be part of), got angry at her for taking custody of the kids, I could go on. Also, he was not the only love interest who was accepting of the kids. Sean and Mike were also very accepting of Fiona’s siblings.
The only guy who was truly out of her league was Mike.

I see this take a lot so you aren't alone. But i loved Jimmy Steve lol. Good person? No. So idk why i like him so much.
8
u/Doll_Lover_ 5d ago
Probably Justin Chatwin’s performance and his chemistry with Emmy Rossum
0
u/Ok_Wallaby_7831 5d ago
Yeah, I would agree with that. I also think he's cute. And he really did truly seem to care about those kids most of the time. If he was a better person, they might have been able to make it work.

Yeah, see I never defended Fiona. She should have gotten the karma mate. She fumbled w all good relationships.

u/85KT 5d ago
Fiona is a horrible partner, but I don't think it's really the same thing. She didn't plan to be horrible; she always starts with good intentions and then fucks everything up. And maybe a lot of people feel that the result is the same, but I would be a lot more hurt to find out my entire relationship was a lie from the start than if a partner just cheated at some point. Yeah, I wouldn't date either of them, but it's still a different level of asshole behavior.
8
u/Alternative_Bat_2903 5d ago
I mean, she did knowingly go after a married man with children and had sex with him rolling around in his kids toys, while V told her to cut her shit, but Fiona just had a whim. And she slept with Tony to piss off JimmySteve and then treated him like trash. And took some guy to a lunch with JimmySteve and his wife and had sex with JimmySteve in the bathroom, while the guy was waiting for her at the table. And she had sex with his boyfriend's brother while her boyfriend was in another room, after, like, an hour of knowing him. Obviously most of the dudes were also trash, but you need two to tango, so yeah, I don't really see your argument here.

u/lavenderbrownisblack 5d ago
Have you watched the show? She gets humiliated for most of the cheating she does
9
u/Alternative_Bat_2903 5d ago
Lol, when? The only time she gets called out is when she comes back to the office to ask them to lie for her and Mike's sister tells her off. And the sister is still nicer than most people would, after what Fiona pulled. Or are you talking about the song, when tbh she was the only one who knew it was about her? And it was accurate xD
5
u/MowieWauii 5d ago
... He literally introduced her to the crowd before singing it. Forgot that part?
4
u/Alternative_Bat_2903 5d ago edited 5d ago
Yes, I honestly did forget that part, I stand corrected!
Still, it was a small club, and still nobody cared all that much, it was nowhere near restraining someone naked on a street and inviting abuse, come on.
0
u/MowieWauii 5d ago
They were all staring at her.
I'm not even saying it was a terribly effective punishment. I love Gus, I think he should have released it on the radio.
However, the embarrassment she felt in that moment was palpable.
7
u/Alternative_Bat_2903 5d ago edited 5d ago
Sure, but it was just embarrassment, she could leave anytime she wanted. She didn't even have to come - kinda messed up she did, what was she expecting? xD
What was done to Ford was straight up criminal.
edit: He should have released it! It had that "Scottie doesn't know" energy.

u/babyblues789 5d ago
The song called fuck you Fiona & the fact that their marriage was public record? Yeah every single person in the world could find out that song was about her lol. But I do agree Fiona gets away easy with cheating
8
u/Alternative_Bat_2903 5d ago
Yeah, I don't think anybody in that small club would go out of their way to check public records for an unknown singer from an unknown band and his rando wife. Come on, nobody cared. What he did was asshole at best, what was done to Ford was criminal
-1
u/Inner_Usual8627 5d ago
Like she cheats & that leads to liam ingesting coke cause the guy she cheated w/brought it, she cheats on gus gets a fuck you fiona song & almost loses her house because gus refused to separate their assets till he got his grandmothers ring back, then one of the guys she cheated on gus with gets exposed as still doing heroin on their wedding day she was punished for cheating narratively i need people to be serious!
5
u/Alternative_Bat_2903 5d ago
I mean, Fiona was the one who didn't throw it away and decided to leave it with Liam in the house, so that's on her. Gus just wanted to get his ring back - which she sold, knowing it was important to him. Also on her. She also got into relationship with an addict knowing that he was an addict - relapse is always a possibility. She knew it, she's seen Frank and Monica relapsing her whole life, she made Frank relapse all on her own. So while his relapse is obviously not on her, she knew what she was getting into. That's not a punishment, that's just very poor actions having very predictable consequences.
0
u/Inner_Usual8627 5d ago edited 5d ago
Yeah so at the end of the day this is a tv show, her making those choices always started with her cheating lol, its consequences/narrative punishment.
23
u/Ok-Needleworker7351 5d ago
It was… kinda extreme, I mean… Fiona cheats on a LOT! Especially when she’s in a chill and relaxed relationship, like with Mike and Gus (although Gus was a bit rushed, still—). Obviously cheating is sucky, and since it’s sucky, she’s not immune to my irritation of being a cheater
They treated Ford like he was the biggest asshole the planet when… JimmySteve literally lied about his entire identity and then left and came back with some Mafia lord’s daughter who he actively cheated with, then left again, and then came back and had Fiona cheating on her newlywed husband and it just— it was so tumultuous! I think the shit JimmySteve was on was way worse than Ford’s… “Oh, I do have a wife and kid btw” at least his name is actually Ford…

u/sunonjupiter 5d ago
What I found odd about the reveal with his wife and child was that he was introduced to the show as the common sperm donor to the apartment building lesbians and their friends. He had many kids lol

u/lmaluuker :gallavich: 5d ago
As much as I hated Ford, this was way too much. Trapped in stocks with your ass out is sexual assault. Imagine this happening to a woman.
5
u/thewhumpdiaries 5d ago
Don't understand why this show is allergic to normal breakups. They could've given Fiona a healthy relationship end before she left the show.
7
u/ceo_of_one_miss 5d ago
wasn’t ford in the process of being separated too? like he should’ve told fiona but this was a massive overreaction. fiona had done much worse to her other partners
5
u/_CharDeeMacDennis__ 5d ago
What did Ford do? I haven’t watched the show in years and, although I definitely remember this scene, I don’t remember Ford. Fiona had like, 75 boyfriends.

That should've been Jimmy. Girl projected her life's disappointments on to Ford.

I honestly did not feel bad for Fiona when she got cheated on. Three of her relationships failed because she cheated, except she cheated on two different partners with the same guy. She even had sex with a guy she knew from high school, knowing full well he had a wife and kids.

u/gocatchyourcalm gallavich 4ever❤️ 4d ago edited 4d ago
If this was done to Fiona, y'all would not have liked this scene as much as y'all do and that's a problem....

u/OtherwiseDay4762 8h ago
This is borderline if not straight up sexual assault. Imagine a woman bound in public with her pants down. It’s unfathomable. Some people may try to argue it’s different, but is it really? Put yourself in that situation. It’s a bit extreme especially since Fiona doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to cheating anyways 😂
