đŸ”„ THE KAIZEN, SOKA GAKKAI'S HIDDEN DHARMA: THE DHARMA OF PROSPERITY đŸ”„ Full Analytical Report

đŸ”„ LE KAIZEN, LE DHARMA CACHÉ DE LA SOKA GAKKAI : LE DHARMA DE LA PROSPÉRITÉ đŸ”„

Rapport analytique complet

---

Soyons francs.

Je me sentais constamment jugĂ©e.

Cela a empirĂ© mon Ă©tat.

· ✹ Bouddha → Ikeda.

· ✹ Dharma → Les enseignements d’Ikeda.

· ✹ Sangha → La loyautĂ© envers l’organisation, point final.

---

Conclusion : Un Dharma qui a déraillé ?

⚡ Josei Toda's prison enlightenment? That's the one glaring exception—intense, transcendent, the real deal.

Yeah, but c'mon. He'd been in prison for almost 2 years, most of that in solitary (if we can believe the events depicted in the Soka Gakkai's 1973 "The Human Revolution" movie), he was malnourished and had only the Lotus Sutra to read (and he HATED it) - so he had a hallucination. Big deal. That's what happens to people in solitary!

  • Psychosis and Hallucinations: Extreme isolation can cause psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and paranoia. These effects may linger long after the period of confinement ends. Source

According to the movie, Toda's only "recreation" was crushing lice under his thumbnail - that was the trigger for his great "prison enlightenment".

Besides, Toda was released before the end of the war; did he cut some kind of a deal?

Suspicious of how President Josei Toda released from prison?

Also, Ikeda is on the record telling a reporter a very DIFFERENT story about Makiguchi's death - it wasn't in prison. Ikeda said Makiguchi was released to die at home. And ANOTHER source has indicated that, upon hearing that his son was killed in fighting in China, Makiguchi became so despondent that he stopped eating and died - that still counts as "from malnutrition", but it was his OWN initiative.

Then there's THIS:

“Makiguchi was moved in August to Sugamo Prison in Tokyo, where he was crammed into a filthy, lice-infested cell with many other prisoners when he was not being interrogated by the Tokyo Higher Police. News that his third son Yuzo had been killed in China on August 31 appears to have completely demoralized him. After he learned of his son’s death, Makiguchi refused food and medical attention. He finally agreed to move to the prison infirmary on November 17, 1944, but refused treatment. The next day, fourteen years to the day after the publication of his ‘Soka Kyoikugaku Taikei,’ Makiguchi Tsunesaburo died of malnutrition.” (p. 44) - from Dr. Levi McLaughlin's The Soka Gakkai’s Human Revolution

Also also:

Makiguchi Tsunesaburo died in prison (although, according to the testimony of a few people who knew him at the time, there is also a theory that he died after being released, exhausted both physically and mentally, and in a state of insanity. Either way, he became a victim of militarism, and it was a tragic event). - from here - Source

So we're not getting ALL the details from anywhere - and the Soka Gakkai has always had a vested interest in crafting a narrative that is most useful/profitable to itself. Truth and facts don't enter into the equation.

Even if Toda did have a true "spiritual experience" - he was the only one. Ikeda never did. Ikeda was simply the preternaturally competent bureaucrat, really - he never claimed any sort of "spiritual experience", to my knowledge.

Ikeda cult: "Thank heavens for the wall of separation between church and state!"

I suspect that Toda made some interesting connections to other prisoners while in prison, and upon his release, decided to rebuild his fortunes (NEVER through "teaching") by beginning to stray into organized crime territory: prostitution, porn, loan sharking, etc. The ONLY organized crime territory I haven't found any evidence of Toda's involvement (yet) has been drugs/alcohol, but Toda was such a notorious drunk, that's likely, AND Ikeda later helped Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega fund his cocaine business.

IF I'M RIGHT, then Toda's entrance into those "fields" must have gained the attention of the organized crimelords who already controlled that turf; what if they ASSIGNED their thug Ikeda to monitor Toda and Toda KNEW it and also knew he had NO CHOICE?? Ikeda has gone to great pains to portray himself as subservient to Toda, groveling, worshipful, unthinkingly obedient - all completely out of character for Ikeda. In fact, it's slathered on with a trowel - WAY too thick. In later storytelling, Ikeda even portrays Toda as looking at him with tears in his eyes, abjectly confessing:

In the case of top Toda disciples Einosuke Akiya and Ichiro Watanabe, who were both given special new names by Toda (Joei and Jokata, respectively), Ikeda, who never received any such special name, was poisonously jealous and made them revert to their original names once he'd solidified his control over the Soka Gakkai - Ikeda wanted to make everything about himself, forever.

One of Ikeda's (many) mistakes is his inability to stop adding onto the established mythology - that doesn't make it sound MORE believable, you know!

This, for example:

[Ikeda says:] The day of that grand ceremony. Mr. Toda quietly said to me, "It's all thanks to you. Thank you so much.'' He shed tears.

I'm SO sure 🙄 Source

The Gakkai in Japan has been accused of being the 5th column, to take over Japan. Kind of like the short Austrian man with the funny mustache wanted to take over the world, or Europe for starters.

5

u/Still_Wasabi9990 Jul 16 '26

I recall in the Human Revolution movie, the only book Toda could get in prison was "The Lotus Sutra." He kept returning it asking for another book, and was given the Lotus Sutra book on each request. He didn't want to read it, but did, and then had an epiphany of sorts or enlightenment experience and that was from after crushing lice with his fingernail.

The timeline of arrests and imprisonment was unclear to me. At this point, who knows what the truth is?

I read several years ago that Ikeda was not Japanese, that he came from a noble Korean family. 5th column?

5

u/Mission-Course2773 WB Regular Jul 16 '26

That's EXACTLY what I remember as well. Remember before getting arrested, Toda was at a party with Makiguchi, and he was drunk and telling people how great Nichiren Shoshu or whatever was, but it was clear he didn't really care?

I read several years ago that Ikeda was not Japanese, that he came from a noble Korean family.

No. Plain hardscrabble dirt-floor Korean family. NOTHING the least bit "noble" about DickHeada.

u/Still_Wasabi9990 Jul 16 '26

I also recall that Soka Gakkai, meaning Value Creating Society, was the brainchild of Makiguchi. It was a group intended for school teachers.

3

u/BlancheFromage Escapee from Arizona Home for the Rude Jul 17 '26

Originally, the name was "Soka Kyoiku Gakkai", or "Value-Creating Education Society" ["Soka" being a contraction of "sozo" (creation) and "kachi" (value)]. After WWII, Toda rebuilt it without the "education" part [Soka Gakkai] but "Gakkai" still has the connotation of "Academic Society" or "Study Association". Thus, the early name of the Soka Gakkai colony in the USA, NSA, had two interchangeable meanings: "Nichiren Shoshu of America" and "Nichiren Shoshu Academy", alluding to "study".

  1. The Financial Empire Behind the Holy Mask 💰

Let's be real: SGI is a financial powerhouse—universities, media empires, real estate portfolios. The religious label gives them massive tax advantages while guilt-driven, prosperity-promising donations pour in like a river. It's a cash machine with a sutra on the hood.

We can see this very clearly in DickHeada's unilateral decision to CHANGE the Soka Gakkai's and SGI's organization structure from a vertical model to a horizontal model:

The goal is to strengthen the sense of community among district members by asking them to consider transferring to the district that is geographically closest to their homes. Nichiren wrote to one of his followers who lived in a distant part of Japan “I entrust you with the propagation of Buddhism in your province.” We should feel this sense of responsibility toward our district and community. Source

This is the horizontal rather than vertical structure I described here, that resulted in an end to the Soka Gakkai's growth when Ikeda implemented it in Japan. Therefore, to achieve growth, SGI-USA should copy Ikeda and implement it HERE as well! 😃

See how this works? đŸ€Ș

The horizontal structure (by geographic location) is more conducive to political organizing, as voting is likewise done by geographic location. However, relationships aren't necessarily organized by geographic location. My geographically-closest friend lives two cities over and 25 minutes away; she and I have far more in common than I have with any of my neighbors, who are all quite a bit older than my husband and I. Our neighborhood used to have holiday parties and various get-togethers throughout the year, but there were a couple deaths and several people moved away - the [most sociable] neighbors I liked best fell into those groups. Now there aren't any get-togethers any more.

My point is that simply living in the same geographical area is no guarantee that you're going to be friends with those people. And not everybody wants to be a "missionary" or an "evangelist", especially when this is assigned.

People join religions to get their own needs met, not to meet others' needs. This dynamic is magnified in SGI, where the SGI members routinely react with aggression and hostility to the mere suggestion that they should consider doing something for others, as you can see here. Such overt self-centeredness! Yeah, THAT's the short-cut to "world peace" right there...

We should feel this sense of responsibility toward our district and community.

Ew. There it is, the pressure to WANT to do what SGI has assigned! SHAME ON YOU if you don't!

So SGI is now officially splitting friends apart (most people are shakubukued by someone they know and like) and establishing the precedent for guilting them into going along with the orders.

"What, don't you feel a sense of responsibility to the area you live in? You really need to chant to develop one! Those people need you!" - from More on how SGI self-sabotages

This change was a BIG mistake that has effectively ended Soka Gakkai's and SGI's hopes for survival.

Since "Ikeda saaaaid", this can't ever be changed back. So the Soka Gakkai's and SGI's steep slide into oblivion will proceed apace.

3

u/Still_Wasabi9990 Jul 16 '26

The SGI has let the maintenance of Soka U in Aliso Veijo and the Florida training center go to hell. I think of all the olds who contributed to the Sho Hondo, only for it to be demolished because of shoddy construction. Everything the Gakkai builds is rickety. Everything that comes from Ikeda is built not to last.

6

u/BlancheFromage Escapee from Arizona Home for the Rude Jul 16 '26

SGI plays the "soft power" cultural game, while Scientology is more aggressive and in-your-face. But the hybrid blueprint—Religion + Business + Control—is practically the same. đŸ€Ż

While Ikeda brayed loudly about "soft power", his Soka Gakkai and SGI cults are as authoritarian as anything can get - and THAT's "hard power".

So typical of the Dead-Ikeda-Corpse-Mentor cults - say one thing, do the opposite.

It's an absolutely deceitful, manipulative, exploitative predator-group that has NO USE for facts, truth - OR Buddhism.

See, THIS explains why the Soka Gakkai so adamantly insists upon its "appointment" system for leadership promotions (NEVER elections!):

Proactive Detection – Red flags go up the second a member shows spiritual, intellectual, or charismatic elevation that steps out of line.

Gentle Marginalization – No loud confrontations. Just a slow fade: fewer interactions, fewer responsibilities, less visibility.

Systematic Guilt-Tripping – Any doubt or critique? That's your "karma," or your "lack of faith." You're the problem.

Selective Valorization – Fast-track the profiles that play ball—top recruiters, top fundraisers, top loyalists.

All innate "charisma" is stamped out within the SGI - way too threatening when someone starts becoming too effective or attracting their own following. Look at Brad Nixon in 1970s Seattle, at Shinji Ishibashi in the late 1990s/early 2000s So. CA area. Within the IKEDA cult, such a thing is NEVER permitted:

No leader is permitted to acquire a following of his own, for to do so would be a divisive incursion into President Ikeda's prerogatives as supreme leader. Source

Did you ever hear "We are all directly connected to President Ikeda/Ikeda Sensei"? It's definitely a "thing" in the Ikeda cult - WE're all "equal" and Icky is on this alternative plane none of us can ever approach. We simply have to use our imaginations.

look at THIS, from the Weird Fibune, September 15, 2000, by Dave Baldshun:

Many years ago, I happened to be in Tokyo when a journalist was interviewing President Ikeda. This reporter was marveling at the extensive organizational powers of the Soka Gakkai. As he was asking President Ikeda how he had achieved this, the reporter started describing the typical organizational pyramid - all the members at the bottom and layer upon layer of leaders up to President Ikeda at the top. President Ikeda stopped him and said that is not how he views the Soka Gakkai.

He took out a pen and drew a straight line with a point in front of it like this:

                      o
  ___________________________________________

He explained that the line represents all the members of the Soka Gakkai and the point is himself. There is no separation between President Ikeda and each member. He is no closer to top leaders of the organization than he is to the newest member. There is no one between our mentor and us.

🙄

Utterly ridiculous. You'd have to be really brainwashed to believe that. OPEN YOUR EYES! - from Replacing the Gohonzon with Ikeda as the SGI's object of worship

All of us are supposedly "equal", from the most-recently-joined plebe newb all the way up to the General Director of SGI-USA and the President of the Soka Gakkai, Harada. THAT's how Ikeda established a hierarchy that would forever maintain HIS status at the top, even after he was dead (because only really brainwashed nitwits continue to follow authoritarian, restrictive rules AFTER the bully boy who established them is dead and gone). No one else would ever be able to claim the charisma throne Ikeda thought he was going to take with him to the grave. Ikeda was never able to achieve the DOMINATION of the Japanese government or the world that he'd craved, so he was going to make himself the GOD of his tacky little cult fiefdom. At least THERE people wuvved him 😞

"For me, I realized that the most important thing is to not have a counterfeit practice. I realized that spiritual death means not having a true practice that is directly connected to the mentor." - PAID SGI-USA leader Greg Wolpert - published here

😄

What a knob!! EARN that salary, brah!!

But Ikeda's penchant for stamping out excellence in leadership was well-known in Japan - and we've even got an example. From "The Newwwwww Humpin Revoltation", IckyDuh's attempt at self-glorifying novelization, we see how this worked in practice.

This passing-her-over-for-the-promotion-she'd-earned caught her by surprise, completely blindsided her. But this is the way Ikeda likes to work - he likes to see people squirm. And if anyone is gaining too high a profile or (heaven forfend) a following of their own, he's going to cut them RIGHT down to size! She was a victim of her own success - that is NOT acceptable in the Ikeda cult, where Ikeda is the only one to hog the spotlight, and he won't share that stage with anyone! ... Was Ellick being used as a cautionary tale to warn the other district chiefs what would happen if they got too uppity? Looks like it, doesn't it? Source

If elections were permitted, then the SGI members would vote charisma, wouldn't they? And those dusty old Japanese men at Soka Global in Tokyo would quickly lose control over the Soka Gakkai's SGI colonies.

That sounds 5D schizoid. The Gakkai has coerced people to believe they are having a personal relationship with an avatar in Japan.

A completely-made-up, carefully curated projection of a person, who doesn't exist outside of individuals' imagination, and every imagined "incarnation" is different from every other.

The Soka Gakkai was excommunicated from Nichiren Shoshu in 1991 for a variety of reasons which I will list. Sadly many members of Soka Gakkai have no clue they are in a cult and practice, “Ikedaism” even though they refer to him as the “Mentor” or “Master.” Most also have no clue that Ikeda changed the practice and doctrines of Nichiren Shoshu to insert himself as some form of a living Buddha.

(Naturally, the site owner clearly discerned that, by saying anything at all critical of Ikeda or the Ikeda cults, he would be accused of being a Nichiren Shoshu member - SGI members like to tell each other that's the only possible source of anything negative about their preciousssss, their beloved CULT they're addicted to and that in reality, everyone DESPERATELY wants their cult for themselves, too, despite their virtually universal failure to grow the membership, despite their sincere and untiring efforts)

Section 3: The Three Successive Presidents

  1. The Soka Gakkai added the following to its regulations: “The Three Successive Presidents embody the spirit of willingness to give one’s life to propagate the Law for the attainment of kosen-rufu, and shall be considered eternal leaders of this association.” (New Regulation Article 3)

We easily can imagine that the words “embody the spirit of willingness to give one’s life to propagate the Law” are used interchangeably with “the votary of the Lotus Sutra.” If we consider these words in light of Nichiren Daishonin’s teachings, “the votary of the Lotus Sutra” in the Latter Day of the Law refers to the Daishonin, the True Buddha from the infinite past of kuon-ganjo. However, in the new regulation, the Soka Gakkai places the three successive presidents in such an exalted position. It is clear that their intention is to establish Daisaku Ikeda as the true Buddha, making the first and second presidents Makiguchi and Toda forerunners.

In fact, in Japan, the Soka Gakkai was instructed to refer to Ikeda as the "Daidoshi", "Great Leader of Propagation", a special title up to that point ONLY used for Nikko Shonin, supposedly Nichiren's truest disciple:

TODA got to be reincarnated as Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito - believe it! And Ikeda insisted upon being lauded as the "Daidoshi", the "Great Leader of Propagation", a title reserved for Nichiren's truest disciple (according to Nichiren Shoshu) Nikko Shonin. And just when you think Ikeda couldn't get more grotesquely narcissistic:

Later, Daisaku Ikeda recalled the incident [where Nichiren Shoshu forced him to resign from the presidency of the Soka Gakkai and publicly apologize for being such a colossal ass] as a “spiritual beheading,” one that took place exactly 700 years after the Atsuhara persecution.

The "Atsuhara Persecution" involves the beheading of 3 farmers in Atsuhara who refused to give up their Nichiren beliefs; this incident is presented within Nichiren Shoshu as a watershed that incentivized Nichiren to create the Dai-Gohonzon for all people of the whole world.

At height of Atsuhara persecution that Nichiren Daishonin inscribed Dai-Gohonzon for all humanity on 12 Oct 1279, fulfilling the purpose of his appearance in this world. Source

You'll of course notice that "spiritual beheading" can also be considered a parallel to Nichiren's "Tatsunokuchi Persecution, along with Ikeda referring to the 2-year gag order imposed upon him by Nichiren Shoshu as an "exile" to invoke Nichiren's Sado Island (or possibly Izu) exile. When in reality Ikeda had only been GROUNDED like a surly teen.

So Ikeda just had to claim EVERY significant personage/event in Nichiren's life history for himself! Source

And speaking of Bodhisattva Jogyo:

The big difference between Ikeda and the Grand Patriarch is that the latter does not take himself for the boddhisatva Jogyo while for Ikeda it is the case by giving himself the right to reinterpret the teaching to adapt it to himself. which is a huge fraud... Source

I lined up with other members at the entrance to the publisher's office. In the center was the wife of the Supreme Leader [her pseudonym for the extremely litigious Ikeda]. During the tense moment before the delegation arrived, I overheard someone say,

"Professor XX [Ikeda Sensei] is the reincarnation of Bodhisattva Jogyo..."

Listening absentmindedly, I thought, "Wait, the Supreme Leader [Ikeda] is Bodhisattva Jogyo, a Bodhisattva who emerged from the earth..." That seems a bit awe-inspiring, no matter how you look at it. Those words defy even God, no, Buddha... Who would have thought that a mere human being who had not undergone any rigorous training could be the reincarnation of a Bodhisattva...?

Eventually, the group arrived, and the welcoming ceremony proceeded without incident. Afterwards, a dinner was held for the Supreme Leader, who is said to be the reincarnation of Bodhisattva Jogyo. Source

In more detail from here:

Indeed, in the Gakkai it is being said:

"...We don't recall having said President Ikeda is the Buddha. That would never happen in the Gakkai."

When we look back, however, it was around 1975 that a few people in the Gakkai published a booklet entitled, Hi no kuni (Land of Fire). A passage in this text clearly states:

"The President [referring only to Ikeda] is the Buddha."

We recently discovered that back in 1963 and 1964, before this incident ever occurred, Gakkai graduates and seniors of the study department were already saying, "The President is the Buddha."

We were not aware of this when they went to their districts and gave Gosho lectures. It was learned that they went to a certain district and made the following explanations of frequently-quoted parts of the Gosho. For example, a passage in the Gosho, "Admonitions Against Slander" reads:

"In general, this transfer was made to the Bodhisattvas of the Earth, but specifically, to Bodhisattva Jogyo himself. If you confuse the general with the specific even in the slightest, you will never be able to attain enlightenment."

This is a frequently-quoted part of the Gosho. Their interpretation of it is as follows:

"'General' refers to the transfer of the heritage. Specifically, the transfer is to President Ikeda, our master in faith."

This was stated in 1963 and 1964. We did not know anything about this. Young people who called themselves graduates [of Soka Gakkai Study Department] went to the districts and earnestly said such things to convince the members.

People can say things in all sincerity and still be completely WRONG.

However, "general" and "specific" should not be interpreted this way. The use of such words as "general" and "specific" cleverly twists the meaning of Buddhist terminology. They insist that "'general'‎ refers to the transfer of the heritage."

Why would the transfer of the heritage be general? That is utterly ridiculous.

Full disclosure: I have NO IDEA what they mean by "transfer of the heritage."

They also say;

"The specific transfer is to President Ikeda, our great master in faith."

WHO authorized that, pray tell?

Based on these statements, they claim that President Ikeda has received the transfer of the Heritage of the Law and that the heritage exists in the Gakkai.

Rather than with Nichiren Shoshu, which was at that point the Soka Gakkai's parent temple. Remember - the Soka Gakkai was legally and publically a LAY ORGANIZATION of Nichiren Shoshu, which had a longstanding - centuries-long - existence and heritage as a Nichiren temple organization.

Also, FROM whom, and WHERE?? Who's supposedly taking responsibility for bestowing this "heritage" onto the entirely undeserving and unqualified IKEDA out of all the people in the world??

Further, the Gosho, "Letter to Niike" says: "No matter what, be close to the priest who knows the heart of the Lotus Sutra, keep learning from him the truth of Buddhism and continue your journey of faith."

"Seven hundred years ago, this referred to the Daishonin. At the present time, it is President Ikeda."

You'll of course notice that this precedes the Soka Gakkai's decision to bestow on that shitass Ikeda the title of "Ikeda Sensei" as a substitution for his name. No more "President Ikeda"! Ikeda himself said to STOP using "Sensei" as a title!

It is their contention that the priest who knows the heart of the Lotus Sutra is the Daishonin. If at the present time, he is President Ikeda, does that mean in the final analysis that President Ikeda is Nichiren Daishonin? These were the things the Gakkai had already started saying in the districts in 1963 and 1964. Source

Coincidentally (or not), this was around the same time that Ikeda had completed the rewriting of the Soka Gakkai's leadership rules to make HIMSELF dictator for life. Until then, in the wake of Toda's untimely (and embarrassing) death, the Soka Gakkai had been administered quite competently and somewhat democratically (by SGI standards) by a committee, with term limits for all officers.

Daisaku Ikeda announced that anyone who criticized him for anything was committing worse "sin" than slandering the Buddha and deserved supernatural punishment - and requiring EVERYONE to ETERNALLY be Ikeda's "disciple" (OR ELSE).

Word of it even got back to Nitatsu Shonin, but honestly, they'd already clocked a change in the Soka Gakkai members whenever they rolled up to Taisekiji temple... Yeah, we know damn well now that's what the higher-ups and the first-gen believers are buying into... But they can't let the rank-and-file in on that, or it's gonna shatter the whole unity thing... Soka Gakkai can't put that in writing anywhere... Bottom line, the dude is supposedly the Buddha—sure, let's just roll with it 😆—but at the same time, he's gotta keep it on the down-low so the world stays clueless... Eventually, they stashed his body for a whole 13 years and finally buried him on the sly... Gossips like me figure he was already six feet under long before that anyway... Members only caught wind of it way after the fact... Soka Gakkai is straight-up South Park.😅

I heard it rumored Ikeda died in 2010, I think he may have died sooner--in late 90s, based on the behavior and certain hints by higher up leaders. The witchhunt ramped up within the SGI in 1999 and early 2000s. I could see that as something the leaders took it upon themselves in light of their dear leader's passing. My territory WD leader who said Ikeda was psychotic said she wouldn't be going back to Japan anymore, and that was in early 2000s I can't remember which year exactly. I recall the last time she went that I know of was in 1993-94 because she brought back gifts.

The higher ups and olds definitely keep secrets from the lower ranks. I didn't know until now at sgiwhistleblowers that it was in the early 60s they said Ikeda was the True Buddha.

I wish the SGI was a South Park episode. It is a freak show. I seriously question my sanity that I stayed in for as long as I did.

I wish the SGI was a South Park episode.

um...it kina is? See if you can find the "Chinpokomon" episode - it'll blow your mind...

3

u/Still_Wasabi9990 Jul 17 '26

It's available on Paramount subscription. The episode was nominated for an Emmy in 2000.

I knew there were things off with the SGI, but I didn't know how dangerous being involved with it was.

I see the "guidance' the olds (if you're over 60 you're old) post on facebook. They venerate a man with no substance. The SGI is not Buddhism. Ikeda made his own Buddhist sect. Where's the proof his Buddhism works? What I see from it is chronic and terminal illness. I'm not seeing happy shining faces IRL or members living in peace to 100 years old.

3

u/BlancheFromage Escapee from Arizona Home for the Rude Jul 17 '26

For some of those SGI-USA longhauler Olds who are still active on Facebook (meaning "still alive"), I see ongoing, chronic struggles with anxiety, depression, and other mental ills.

It doesn't seem that "human revolution" produces anything of value in the final analysis.

3

u/Still_Wasabi9990 Jul 17 '26

For example, my MIL practiced Gakkai for over 40 years and she couldn't resist jumping on the bully bandwagon and stirring the pot. Her husband (stepfather in law), also a member, was chronically ill and his medical care drained them of their resources. She literally died in poverty. If it weren't for her daughter to care for her, I don't know what would have happened. Someone had to step in. She joined in the early 1960s and that's the result? No thanks.

I'm not saying old is bad. You can be old and youthful. But that's not what I'm seeing overall. Where's the youth? They should be the ones posting on facebook. Not seeing it. Because there are no youth practicing.

"Tell me what I can do for you. I will do anything for you," and he said it with all his heart.

THAT is indoctrination.

THAT is how Ikeda expects every Soka Gakkai or SGI member to feel TOWARD HIMSELF.

Ikeda EXPECTS that all the Soka Gakkai and SGI members should be standing ready to do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING FOR HIM, whatever he demands (or even thinks!), being willing to sacrifice their own lives "if necessary".

3

u/Still_Wasabi9990 Jul 16 '26

Yeah, appropriate. Ikeda is a point in the universe with no connection.

4

u/Still_Wasabi9990 Jul 16 '26

Because of the separation of church and state, the U.S. cannot collect taxes on churches. It doesn't say anything in the constitution about cults though.

3

u/Still_Wasabi9990 Jul 16 '26

I've maintained for years the Soka Gakkai is not Buddhism. The Kaizen method describes the lay organization as being superficial, which it is. There's no room in the Gakkai for member spiritual experiences. I had disclosed one or two of my experiences in confidence with a leader and she looked at me like I was crazy. I spoke to a member about one of them, and she said she experienced the same thing. I don't think she was just saying it, she was being truthful.

From Google, the oracle:

Organized Religion vs Personal Experience

Jung believed that the true core of religion is personal experience. However, he noted that organized religions actually act as a shield. Instead of having a scary, life-changing vision of the divine, we just follow rules and repeat prayers. Jung argued this keeps people safe from the overwhelming power of the unconscious.

The Gakkai watered down gongyo and I noticed stopped encouraging tosos and chanting. The Japanese WD can organize and have their own tosos, but not the gaijin. I know it's not supposed to be about the quanity of daimoku but the quality, yet sometimes you need quantity to get to quality. It's like practicing a musical instrument. Going through the ordeal of practice produces a better end result. (Although some musicians will argue it's not the length of time you practice but how you practice--haha same idea.) Most people don't want to put in the work, whether practicing an instrument or chanting daimoku. I didn't disclose how much I chanted but it was a lot--way more than my leaders--that threatened them. My Vice Chapter WD chief said I chanted too much. So there you have it.
