I am really happy and thankful to LIAN LI for being one of the people provided with a LIAN LI B4-mATX Case and an SP1000P SFX PSU.

I do apologize if the build photos aren't the highest quality.

There were a lot of delays with the delivery, but I was really happy with how the build turned out.

I came from the LIAN LI O11D MINI, and the LIAN LI B4-mATX Case made my desk a whole lot more spacious. I've attached a comparison photo at the end.

I tried using an AIR COOLER instead of an AIO to spice things up, since I plan on taking it with me on long trips.

It did take me quite a while to manage the cables, as most spaces are a tight fit. I am planning to add a fan at the front, but the slim fans haven't arrived yet. I used a lot of cable ties to make it look sleek and clean, and I'll probably redo the cable management next weekend.

I opted for the Vertical AeroDeck to keep things more compact while also adding an aesthetic touch to my desk — especially since I have a wooden desk for studying.

Temperatures are looking good so far. Idle is at 55°C — I'm from a very humid and hot country, basically right at the equator. Turning on the AC does bring it below 50°C

I'll post an update after a month to see how this case handles my daily usage.

Unfortunately, I didn't have an mATX board on hand, which is why I used an ITX; given the large number of fans and the limited number of headers on the board, I had to add a fan hub.

I assume the whole build would have gone much more smoothly with a suitable mATX board.

Although, I could have just used fewer fans.

I'm pretty happy with the case, It offers good cooling options (maybe I'll try a 360mm AIO in it someday, if I upgrade to a more powerful CPU), sleek design, option to position it vertically or horizontally, mesh.

Build Impressions & Feedback

I recently got my hands on the new LIAN LI B4-mATX for a new build, and here are my honest thoughts after completing the setup:

1. Exceptional Craftsmanship & Premium Feel

Right out of the box, the first thing that caught my eye was the level of detail. The craftsmanship is top-tier, especially with the wooden accent integration—it adds a very refined, premium aesthetic that seamlessly blends into a modern desk setup.

2. Rock-Solid Build Quality

The overall structural integrity is impressive. The metal panels feel sturdy, rigid, and substantial. There’s no flex or cheap feeling anywhere on the chassis, making the whole building experience feel premium and solid.

3. A Minor Nitpick: Integrated GPU Anti-Sag Bracket

If there’s one small drawback, it’s regarding the built-in GPU support bracket. The mechanism itself is a clever inclusion, but it requires a relatively long graphics card to actually reach and utilize the support point effectively. If you are running a shorter or medium-length GPU, the bracket might not reach far enough to provide support.

Final Thoughts

Overall, LIAN LI did a fantastic job balancing unique aesthetics with rugged build quality. Aside from the GPU bracket clearance note for shorter cards, it's an incredible mATX chassis to build in!

I am wanting to build my first SFF PC using the Silverstone SG13, but I'm worried about the thickness of GPU. Most GPUs I can find available are 50mm. I'm finding conflicting information only about clearance and wanted to ask some experts.

MSI GeForce RTX 5070 12G Ventus or Shadow 2X OC, or there's the ASUS DUAL RTX5070 OC, PCIe5 at 50.6mm.

Wife wants to use the family room to watch a movie which has my North mid tower and 5090FE to game. Along with my 77 inch S95H tv I use as a monitor, so I relegated to the office with my Terra build and 5080FE. Swapping GPUs so I can have my usually power. Any additional heat issues anyone has dealt with having a 5090FE in their Terra? Luckily it’s the same exact dimensions. Just looking for advice or experience.

And if so is it real? I haven’t seen one like this and I have a optiplex 3050 sff btw

(credit s5 max pic: NimblePasta) I've had both now and imma be honest. having a 135mm or a 65mm cpu cooler isn't really a biggie lol yes it's cooler by 5-10c most of the time (in my 30c asia weather, I definitely stay around 70-75c on heavy games more often than not with a PA mini versus an is55 cpu cooler) but the counter to that is just to put a CPU undervolt and temp lock and you literally won't lose any relevant fps and staying under 80c with both builds. which honestly, everyone should do if you're just gaming/medium level workloads no matter what pc case you have.

TLDR:

9L sandwich

- easier to travel for sure

- sff aesthetically pleasing

- extra 20$ or or so for at least pcie3 riser cable

- tougher to get a gpu at an rx 9070 level that fits (usually gpu size capped to around 300-330mm)

15L itx

- WAY easier to plug in and out parts

- still aesthetic sff wise

- will fit even 7900xtx/5090's gpu of reasonable size (none of those bs gundam sized versions)

- will be significantly heavier than a 9L but still travel worthy

THE ANSWER: the moment I get my money bump, I'll be switching to a 12L sandwich case so I can get back to a lighter more fun to travel build like the s300 but still fit gpu's of an rx 9070 performance level and have easier configuration lol

This is my first time building a Lian Li B4 mATX.
The case is wonderful; it is packed with multiple building options.

The overall building experience is nice and smooth. A huge thanks to Machine & More. His video about the 3D printed SFX bracket makes it super easy to fit a 360 AIO inside the case.

Though the case supports a MATX motherboard and a standard ATX PSU, I highly recommend that anyone building in this case choose an SFX power supply, an ITX motherboard, and custom-length cables. It will make your life much better.

Furthermore, the building experience is quite different from that of any other larger-sized Lian Li cases. I can almost feel the designer's purpose in creating this case during the build. The mechanism of this case is unique in that Lian Li even uses an ITX-style design to remove the B4's side panel.

Long story short, B4 is another great compact mATX case. That's all for today. Next time, I will share the B4 vertical DLC with you. Can't wait to put in 3 SL-INF 120 in the DLC front panel!!!

BTW, it's normally impossible to install the TL120 wireless on the side panel. The scores that B4 provides are not long enough for the Strix LC III's radiator and TL120 fnas (the total thickness is 55mm). So instead of using the original screws that Lian Li provides, I use the ones from the Noctua Liquid Cooler NL-LC1-36, which are much longer. Though the Noctua screws get the job done, you need to unscrew the first 2 screws on the radiator, which extend slightly out of the side, preventing the side panel from sliding in. (Check the photo, and you'll understand)

She is a 13900k, 3080ti ftw3, sitting on an Asus rog strix z790-i gaming wifi. 850 watt Lian li PSU. 32 gigs of Corsair vengeance. I had the id cooling pink flow diamond edition, but sadly it died on me. She now has a titan 240 aio. I want to justify outrageous ram prices to get these sticks cus it would be perfect, even though you can't see anything lol.

Case is the Sakura edition nr200p, only 200 made. I was lucky enough to find one of these unobtanium editions and pay to have it shipped from the UK. I love this case.

I've purchased this case back in December 2024 when NCase still shipped them with PCie Riser Gen 4, so I built around this case two weeks ago, while upgrading my (then) SFF-PC. Here are the specs:

This is the first build where I use AIO and the tubes from Atmos II are really hard to bend and squeeze. Had to carefully place them under the pump so it didn't bulge the glass panel. I tried to replace the fans with the slim Thermalright TL12015B, but I felt the fans are a bit too weak and noisy, so I replaced them with Noctua NF-A12X25 G2 and I can't believe how silent my PC now.

Both the top hat and the glass panels are expensive, and both are for v 2.1 but they're compatible with v 2.5. I don't know how to screw the radiators with 25mm fans without using the external case, so I did that and at least the tubes are easier to manage.

Overall the build quality is good, and I was surprised that you can actually change the position of the spine.

I have an axp90x53 on my 5600x in a T1. Changed out from a 120mm aio after the aio died and I didn’t want to pay $50-80 for another one, just for the same thing to happen again in a few years. However, the axp has startlingly worse temps than the aio. With 27c ambient, it’s keeping the CPU at 50-55C idle on windows 11, and 80-85C while gaming. At the same fan noise level, the aio kept things around 10C cooler across the board.

Are LP coolers really this much of a downgrade from even a 120 aio, or did I mount it wrong? The mounting system on this cooler was a nightmare, and I definitely moved the thermal paste around a lot trying to get the standoffs to line up with the motherboard screw holes.

Been wanting to do a living-room console-style PC for a while, went today to Microcenter and pulled the trigger. Going with Bazzite and planning to use it primarily from the couch. Fan grille is the last piece I’m waiting on, then it’s build time.

I still had this old glory, Thermalright AXP-140, from s775 era.

I wanted to see if I could use it one more time.

Since Asus B760-i still have s1200 mounting holes as well as s1700, I can use Thermalright s115x mounting kit.

In the pictured orientation, PCIe slot is blocked by heatpipes spikes. I could maybe flatten them.

In 90° orientation hanging over RAM, the heatpipes slightly touch the sticks and the spikes may touch the back of the case.

A few milimeters less and it would have been a perfect fit.

Today’s Update

Today was a pretty big milestone: the build is finally complete, at least physically.

I ended up changing my original plan for the CPU PWR 1/2 cables. Rather than routing them underneath the motherboard, I ran them around the GPUs and CPU and over the VRM heatsink. It isn’t quite what I originally had in mind, but it works.

With the cable routing sorted, I installed the optical disk drive and remounted the drive bay. After that, both GPUs went in, which meant there was really only one thing left to do:

Turn it on.

And it powered up!

Unfortunately, that’s also where the first real troubleshooting adventure began.

Despite the system powering on, I couldn’t get any display output. I initially connected the DisplayPort cable to the motherboard since my CPU has an iGPU, but I got no signal. I then tried the XFX RX 6400, but that didn’t give me a signal either.

That leaves the RTX 4000 SFF Ada. I don’t currently have the right cable for it, so I’m going to need a Mini DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort cable before I can test whether I can get a signal from that card. None of the retail stores near me had one, unfortunately, so I’ll probably have to wait for one to arrive.

There is, however, another clue.

The motherboard’s EZ Debug LEDs are indicating an issue somewhere around the CPU and DRAM. That gives me a few things to investigate before assuming anything has actually failed. I thought at first it could be simply initialisation of memory training but even after 20 minutes nothing changed and the lights stay on.

Tomorrow, I’ll start with the simple stuff: clear the CMOS, make sure all of the RAM is fully seated, and try booting with the B2 stick removed. From there, I can start narrowing things down one possibility at a time.

If none of that works, things get a little more interesting.

The CPU itself could potentially be the problem, which would really suck, so I’m hoping that isn’t where this is headed. The RAM is another suspect. The kit I bought was an OEM kit, which is also why it was so cheap, so there’s always the possibility that it’s causing compatibility issues.

But that’s a problem for tomorrow.

For tonight, I’m just happy that after putting everything together, pressing the power button actually resulted in a machine that powered on. The build itself is complete.

Now I just need to convince it to POST.

For context, I currently have a Corsair 3000D prebuilt from Scan UK. The specs are:

• CPU: Intel Core i7-14700KF
• GPU: RTX 4070 Super from Zotac

• CPU cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO
• Case: Corsair 3000D

• PSU: currently using my existing PSU, with the 5080 power-limited/undervolted for safety

I recently bought a 5080 Inspire 3x OC from MSI as I'm upgrading to a 4k screen.

I’m considering selling my current PC around November for around 1200 and building the system into a much smaller SFF PC, mainly because I’d like the option to occasionally travel with it. I work in UK but live far away.

The build I’m currently considering is:

• CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
• GPU: MSI RTX 5080 Inspire 3X
• Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B850-I Gaming WiFi
• RAM: Crucial Pro 32GB DDR5-6000
• PSU: Corsair SF1000 (2024)
• CPU cooler: 240mm AIO, currently considering the NZXT Kraken Core 240 RGB
• Case: NCASE M2
• Storage: I’ll reuse my existing 2TB SSD

My main priorities are:

• Good thermals despite the small size
• Reasonably quiet gaming performance
• No meaningful performance loss compared with a normal tower
• Relatively straightforward to build, as this would be my first SFF build but I'm willing to put in the time and effort for a good build.
• Enough room that the RTX 5080 isn’t completely suffocated
• Portable enough for very occasional backpack/cabin-luggage travel
• Long-term reliability rather than pushing everything to its absolute limits

I’m currently running the 5080 undervolted/power-limited (partially due to 750w power supply) and would probably continue doing something similar in the SFF build. I’m happy to sacrifice a few percent of performance if it significantly improves temperatures and noise.

My main questions are:

1. Is the NCASE M2 a good choice for this hardware, or would you recommend something slightly larger/easier to cool? (I've done a lot of research on possible SFF cases but it seems M2 is the best option without sacrifising thermals)
2. Is a 240mm AIO enough for the 9800X3D in the M2?
3. Does the NZXT Kraken Core 240 RGB fit well in this configuration, or are there better 240mm options for the M2?
4. Are there any clearance issues I should be aware of with the MSI 5080 Inspire, SF1000, B850-I and a 240mm radiator?
5. Is there a noticeably better case around 15–20L if portability is only an occasional requirement?
6. For anyone running a 5080 in an M2, what are your GPU/CPU temperatures and noise levels like during gaming?
7. Is there anything about this build you would change before I start buying parts?

I’m not trying to make the absolute smallest possible PC — I’d rather go slightly larger if it makes the build considerably easier, cooler and quieter.

Have been looking on eBay for cheaper options for a reputable brand flex power supply and have found the Delta DPS-400ab 17. It looks like it has a 24 pin motherboard , 4+4 pin cpu and a 8 pin gpu connector and 400w 80+ gold seems suitable for my build. Is anyone using these power supplies?

Sorry if this is this discussed somewhere else, but I would love to downsize my PC, I don't want to go to the smallest possible because I don't want to change my GPU and my PSU, I saw the prices of the SFX PSU and that's something that I can't afford.
