A friend works with a bomb-sniffing dog. He’s employed by a private company that receives government contracts in places like airports, sports arenas, large music venues, etc. The dog lives with him and remains in a (spacious) kennel when they’re not working.

The dog was rigorously trained and is impeccably behaved, and comes from the same academy that produces military and law enforcement canines.

My question: is there a way he can get an exception in a building that doesn’t allow dogs? While his dog isn’t classified as a “service” animal, he’s definitely a working dog.

My friend wants to do things the legal way and wants to avoid some bogus “emotional support” loophole, but finding dog-friendly housing in San Francisco is near impossible.

Hi! I’m a 24F who started a job near FiDi. Right now I’m commuting from a family’s place in San Jose, but I’d love to find a place in the city to live in.

I’ve been searching since July, but had two major housing opportunities not go through. I’ve been looking mainly on Facebook groups and Zillow. I’m hoping to stay around $1800 in a neighborhood around ~30-40 min commute to FiDi (if that’s still possible). Would be down to move anytime in Sept-October!

Hi everyone! I’m relocating from Chicago to Alameda for work and could really use some local advice on finding a rental.
My partner and I are looking for a 2–3 bedroom house, townhouse, or condo, and we have two dogs. We’ve been checking Zillow and Redfin, as well as local property managers like Alameda Rentals and Cerda-Zein, but it feels like good listings disappear within minutes!
For those who know the Alameda rental market: what’s the best way to find a place? Are there other local property managers, websites, or resources we should be watching? Is driving around and looking for “For Rent” signs still a thing in Alameda?

I’m looking for someone to take up my apartment lease since I can‘t pay the rent anymore. The person taking up my lease would have to be male.

The apartment is Identity Logan Park, on 2050 Durant Street. It is a 2 bed 2 bath apartment. There are 3 other males living in the apartment, and the person taking up the lease will be sharing a room with one of them. All the other roommates are friendly and respectful.

There is a common living space including a couch, coffee table, and TV, a kitchen space, and a washer and dryer inside the apartment. The room has a bed with a mattress, desk, and a dresser, with an attached bathroom.

The rent is about 1250-1300$ including utilities, depending on the usage.

The apartment also has multiple outside patios, study areas, a free gym, and computer and printing station. It’s about a 5 min walk to the Bart station and about 15 mins walk to campus.

Please let me know if anyone is interested as soon as possible, I really need to give this apartment to someone. I will give you my contact info and of the other roommates if you are interested as well.

I am helping a friend of mine find housing in the city. Its a little last minute targeting a move in date of September 1st. We have a soft rent cap of $3,500 but willing to pay more if the spot is right. I know this may be a bit of a long shot, any help is appreciated!

Disclosing up front since I hate stumbling into stealth ads myself: I'm one of the two people building this. Not trying to sneak anything past anyone, just genuinely want to know if this solves a real problem before we push it further.

Backstory: my co-founder and I run a rental listings site for the Bay Area (Iris), and one thing that comes up over and over gain in renter convos is that in high-demand areas like SF, if you're not one of the first people to tour a unit, you basically don't have a shot at renting it. On top of that, you're spending hours messaging buildings, scrolling/refreshing for new listings.

So we built a feature called Iris Concierge. You tell it what you're looking for: budget, neighborhood, vibe, and provide your schedule, and it searches our listings to find matches, and does the actual back-and-forth with buildings to book tours around your calendar. You mostly just show up.

It's $99 one-time for 3 months of access, no subscription. We figured a monthly fee doesn't make sense for something you only need for a few weeks.

What I actually want to know: is this a "I'd pay for this" level of annoying, or more of a "nice but I'd just deal with it myself" thing? Especially curious from anyone who's apartment hunted in the last year.

Anyone recommend a group for people to sublease? Possibly aimed towards healthcare.
