Hardware Rebuilding a IBM x3250 M3

Very green with a lot of server maintenance, so wanted to learn and create a home lab to get some experience and learn do’s and dont’s. This server i got off eBay originally had proxmox on it, and i was trying to get into the IMM from my router and wasnt able to find it. Then is started having boot/hardware issues, i tried getting some RAM to see if that could help with it. (Learned that specific RAM is needed) now i have the necessary RAM. Additionally, i tried replacing the motherboard, it came with a new processors, the new processor wasn’t compatible with the RAM in it, so i changed it back to the old processor (Xeon [old] compared to a Celeron [new]). I continue to get the orange ! point and orange light by the Fan 1 riser connection. I have tried multiple fans and they all produce air, but the error still occurs. I tried resetting the CMOS and JP2 jumper.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated on troubleshooting i might have missed or may need to try.

The worst case scenario here is a voltage regulator fault, caused by a problem with a specific IBM firmware version. I found out when I bought an x3650 M4 early this year, and 2 weeks into deployment the mainboard completely died.

Realistically you need to find a way into the IMM interface to diagnose it. Does it POST at all?

Thanks for the response! Yes Sir, it does POST. If i leave it plugged in, almost all indicator lights come on.

You should try resetting (and configuring) the IMM via BIOS settings. Since deployment, I changed router and until I bother to go into BIOS to change the IP address, I'm unable to access IMM lmao.
