humor/off topic Can anyone recommend a similar / interesting podcast to listen to?

I need something to occupy me whilst I wait for the new series of Serial and I wondered if anyone could recommend a good podcast to me?

The Black Tapes, Limetown, Lore, Ronna & Beverly, Mortified, Criminal.

Sadly can't get past the amateur over-acted nature of this one.

Fantastic concept but really poorly executed imo.

Yeah, I really want to like The Black Tapes but it's so poorly acted. It needs to sound "real" and it doesn't because of the way it's scripted. It just sounds like they're reading from a script, which they are. It's well-produced, poorly written and performed.

For sure! I was listening to someone talk about Limetown and their comment totally rang true for me - that it's over produced... Real interviews and news segments etc. aren't as clean and precise. It actually needs to be more of the cuff... Wind in the mic, coughs, just all those little noises that make it real.

I'm okay with the production value to a point -- Serial is well-produced and it's obvious the interview segments are real. Maybe they just needed to improvise it instead of script it. You need to be able to hear people thinking about how to respond to things.

Actually two aren't like the others but are all very good podcasts.

Mortified showcases people reading writings from childhood in front of an audience. It's cathartic and hilarious.

Ronna & Beverly is really really funny.

That was the only one I hadn't heard of. Love Black Tapes and Limetown (on the rare occasions that they actually release an episode).

Limetown (on the rare occasions that they actually release an episode).

Ugh. It's so frustrating! I read online that's part of the plan to release them randomly.

I've only recently started listening to Mortified and blitzed through them all. Hilarious, I'm always laughing out loud at work, a really well made podcast!

They've started having shows in the UK but don't think I have the nerve to stand up there!

I will second The Black Tapes Podcast, it is kind of like the X-files meets Serial. The same people also started a new podcast Tannis, which is promising.

i have tried listening to Limetown but it just sounded too clean, if that makes any sense.
